The dark green stone houses in the village are nestled among the branches and leaves of various trees, truly like a dream. A shallow stream flows out from the mountains, meandering through the middle of the village, but disappears not far from the village.
The stream disappeared among the cultivated fields, and Wang Yao was surprised to find that the fields were also planted with inferior demon plants. However, compared to the inferior demons in the wilderness, the varieties of inferior demons planted in the fields seemed to be very limited.
A field often contains only one kind of demon, and only the fields near the village are tended. The fields further away look barren, as if there are no demon plants in the wild, leaving only dry sand exposed to the sun.
Plots of barren land stretched out, lying forlornly on the earth. Looking down from the air, Wang Yao felt there were at least several thousand acres of such land.
Could this really be a half-abandoned demon farm? Wang Yao wondered. Just then, he saw two people, one tall and one short, run out of the village and frantically wave their arms at him in the sky.
Wang Yao immediately suppressed the dragon head of "Immortal's Sorrow" and, following the instructions of the two on the ground, slowly descended to the edge of the village, under an apricot-yellow demon tree.
"Rise!" As soon as Wang Yao landed, he heard the sharp cries of the two demons beside him. Then he saw a large black net suddenly rise up behind him, along the edge of the village, and the inferior demons that were still chasing him crashed into the net.
"Quick, pick it up!" The two demons waving at him were a dark-skinned middle-aged witch and a child who looked only seven or eight years old. They had no time to pay attention to Wang Yao. As soon as the black net was raised, they immediately threw themselves into the busy work.
The child was carrying a basket almost as tall as himself on his back. He was using two orange-yellow branches, like chopsticks, to cleanly and quickly pick up the evil demons that had escaped the net.
The middle-aged witch used an orange wooden stick to continuously strike the black net, knocking down all the inferior demons trapped inside. Wang Yao then noticed that the orange-yellow branches of the demon trees outside the black net had also begun to move, and some roots had even sprouted from the ground.
It was as if hundreds of hands had instantly sprung up, grabbing the lesser demons that were offered to them. Whether it was a branch in the demon child's hand, or a twig or root from the demon tree, as soon as it touched a lesser demon, the lesser demon would immediately stiffen and stop moving, as if it had encountered its natural enemy.
A single branch could methodically carry away a dozen or so lesser demons, while the roots dragged away even more. In no time, the demon child had filled a whole basket with lesser demons. Wang Yao discovered that the basket was also woven from branches of the apricot-yellow demon tree. No wonder the lesser demons inside the basket behaved themselves and didn't make a sound.
"I told you there were demon summoners, didn't I? You didn't believe me!" The demon child, carrying a basket brimming with fruit, looked at the middle-aged witch and laughed.
"You have a good eye!" The middle-aged witch praised the demon child affectionately, then turned to look at Wang Yao with a slightly cautious expression. "You... where did you come from, demon summoner?"
"Um... what does 'demon summoner' mean?"
Wang Yao saw that the lesser demons who had chased him into the village area but hadn't been caught in the black net were instantly wiped out. Those lesser demons that hadn't been picked up yet had already hurriedly burrowed underground. However, the demon child and the witch didn't seem to care about them anymore.
He couldn't help but feel a little strange. When the witch asked him a question, he immediately tried to ask her one in return.
"You've never eaten a Primal Demon, so the Primal Demons aren't afraid of you. They chase after you whenever they see you. Of course, you're the Demon Summoner. And you're very powerful. I've never seen a Demon Summoner as powerful as you before, attracting so many Primal Demons here," the Demon Child shouted in a loud voice.
"Uh..." Upon hearing the Demon Child's words, Wang Yao suddenly realized what was going on, but couldn't help feeling a little ashamed.
Not only had he never eaten a lesser demon, but he had also been eaten by one. No wonder those lesser demons chased after him like he was a delicacy. Those lesser demons that ate him must have all died by now. Could it be that lesser demons can share information about food?
"This...can the original demon eat it?" Wang Yao looked at the basket on the demon child's back and asked curiously.
“Of course, but the nobles in the city rarely eat this kind of thing anymore. There are more and more demon summoners, but they all seem to be no match for you. Look, the net was almost knocked down.” The witch said from the side. “You…are you also a noble in the city?”
The witch looked at Wang Yao with some confusion. It was because Wang Yao was vastly different from the demons of the demon realm in appearance. He not only had no demonic aura, but he also had no trace of the tattoos that were unique to demons' faces.
Of course, she wouldn't mistake Wang Yao for a god. After all, the gods and demons had been at war for many years, and the hatred between them was hard to erase. As long as they saw each other, they would have a feeling. Moreover, this place was deep in the demon realm, and no god could have come here alive.
Therefore, Wang Yao's identity made the witch quite suspicious. The demon realm was not a peaceful place. She shouldn't bring disaster upon herself and her child for the sake of some lowly demons.
"Um... I'm an immortal, here for tourism," Wang Yao replied after thinking for a moment.
"Immortal... Immortal? Aren't you from our realm?" Upon hearing Wang Yao's words, the witch's hesitation faded, replaced by a curious expression.
This rural witch is quite knowledgeable; she knows that immortals and she are from different realms. Wang Yao smiled and nodded at her.
"Hurry...hurry up and get into the village, Xiao Qi. Take some of these Primal Demons to every household in the village, just keep five for yourself. There are still many on the ground, enough for us to eat for half a year. These wild Primal Demons taste good, let everyone have a taste." The witch instructed the demon boy.
