Chapter 41 Difficult to Distinguish

"What's going on?" asked the young man, a bespectacled man who looked like a university professor.

"This guy's been lurking around here suspiciously. He just scared a little kid away. I asked him what he was doing, but he wouldn't say. He probably isn't a good person," the young man said confidently to the man who looked like a professor.

"Zhang Ziqiang, professor at Changsheng University, majoring in sociology. Personality: gentle, meticulous, and enjoys reasoning with people. Hobbies: antiques, playing Go, and Western food. Dream: that his academic achievements will be recognized by the international community."

"Young man, who are you looking for? This is the residential area for professors at Changsheng University. If you don't have anything to do, leave now and don't disturb everyone's work and life." The man who looked like a professor nodded to the young man, then turned to Wang Yao and said in a friendly tone.

Wang Yao noticed that the professor's identity information was initially quite clear, but then it started shaking like a child. He turned his head and found that the information next to the young man's head was also shaking so much that it was completely illegible. Could it be that there's something wrong with my system?

"Yes, you'd better hurry up and leave, or the security guards will be here soon. If they arrest you and send you to the police station, it will be troublesome." Wang Yao was standing there at a loss when suddenly an old lady who was watching the commotion also advised him.

“We can’t let him go! There are a lot of thieves in society these days. Who knows what he stole? I think that green thing in his hand looks like the paperweight on Professor Fang’s desk. That’s an antique that’s hundreds of years old. He’s probably robbed Professor Fang’s house.”

The young man pointed at the Awakening Token in Wang Yao's hand and shouted. This shout immediately made Wang Yao certain that the young man was probably the professor in disguise, and he was after the Awakening Token in his hand. He glanced at the young man's messy identity information and pondered how to deal with it.

"Oh? I know Professor Fang well. I often play Go with him when I have nothing to do. I've noticed that the paperweight on his table is unusual. Young man, let me see it. If it's not, you'd better leave. This is a residential area, not a park, not a place for you to wander around."

The guy who looked like a professor blinked and reached out to Wang Yao for the Awakening Token.

This... could this professor be the real beast? Wang Yao looked at the young man and the professor, their identity information trembling, and was immediately unsure of what to do. However, he still held the Awakening Token tightly in his hand, not daring to let go for a moment.

"Oh dear, young man, just take a look. If it's not stolen, hurry up and show it to Professor Zhang. He's a famous professor at Changsheng University. Would he covet a paperweight from you? If he doesn't dare to take it out, then he must have something to hide." The old woman chimed in from the side.

"Yeah, yeah, what kind of treasure is it? What wouldn't you dare to show it off?"

"If he doesn't dare to take it out, he must have something to hide. Quickly call security and arrest this kid."

"You can tell this kid's no good. A couple of days ago, my wife brought some chickens from her hometown, planning to kill them and make soup when it got a little cooler. But one night, the chickens just disappeared..."

Several onlookers chimed in with their own opinions.

Seeing that something was wrong, Wang Yao glanced at the identity information of the people around him and found that they were all in the same situation as the young man and the professor, trembling. He was immediately confused, not knowing whether his system was malfunctioning or the professor was using some kind of trick.

Seeing that he was likely to be mistaken for a thief, the professor, who was trying to take advantage of the chaos in the crowd, realized that the danger was increasing. He hurriedly looked at Caixia beside him, wanting to ask her how things were going.

If he wasn't mistaken, the professor had been barking around them the whole time, and Caixia had probably gotten by enough to understand the professor's cultivation level and how dangerous he was. It would be best to leave quickly once he was done; staying any longer might only make things worse.

Unexpectedly, when he turned around, he was immediately covered in sweat. He saw that Caixia's spirit was standing there with empty eyes, as if it had wandered off to some unknown place, leaving only an empty shell behind.

"Oh no! Could it be that Caixia has been bewitched by the professor?" Wang Yao was shocked and felt deeply ashamed. Caixia had been telling him to pay attention to her changes in expression, but he had been chatting with the child and then observing and guessing who the professor was, completely ignoring Caixia.

He raised the Awakening Token and tapped it several times on Caixia. Caixia's spirit was shaken by the Awakening Token, but her dazed appearance remained unchanged.

"Oh no, I have to get out of here right now!" Wang Yao was terrified. Caixia was the wife he had chosen, and they hadn't even consummated their marriage yet, and she had already been seduced by that professor? He could bear to remain a bachelor for the rest of his life, but now he was getting himself into the arms of that beast, that professor? How could Wang Yao accept this?

Wang Yao grabbed Caixia's spirit body and turned to leave.

"Don't go! You haven't handed over what you have yet!" The young man lunged forward, trying to snatch Wang Yao's Awakening Token. Wang Yao dodged, only to find that the professor had somehow appeared in front of him, his hand outstretched.

"Let me see what you have in your hand." The professor's eyes flashed with a chilling light.

"Don't go, don't go!..." An elderly woman who had come to watch the commotion grabbed Wang Yao's clothes from behind.

"The thief is trying to escape! Security guards, come quick!" Several idlers shouted and rushed forward.

Wang Yao twisted his body and quickly shielded Caixia's spirit in his arms. Ordinary people couldn't see spirits, but the professor could. Now that these people were swarming towards them, if the professor were to join in the underground boxing match, Caixia, in her current state, wouldn't be able to withstand it.
