Chapter 424 Land Reclamation

Wang Yao discovered that the number of magical weapons fired from the puppet ship far exceeded the number of inferior demons. He guessed the reason for this: the mixed loading of magical weapons and inferior demons was to make the inferior demons serve as both food and cannonballs. The reason why there were fewer inferior demons was that most of them had already been eaten!

The Protoss suffered heavy losses quickly. Several warships from three directions were destroyed in succession by a hail of demonic cannonballs. The divine generals on board were forced to take to the sky, but many low-level divine soldiers remained floating in the sea, where they were attacked by demonic warriors, inferior demons, and war demons that were also floating in the sea.

Most of the low-level divine weapons that fell into the sea were only at the level of Primal God or War God. Their combat power was already relatively weak, and their numbers were much smaller than those of Magic Warriors, Inferior Demons, and War Demons. In their panic and helplessness, they were then besieged by groups of sea monsters, and their casualties increased rapidly.

Hearing the shrill screams of the fallen divine soldiers rising and falling, the divine generals in the air flew close to the sea to rescue them, while the surrounding divine warships also tried their best to salvage the fallen divine soldiers, and at the same time, they turned some of their divine power cannons to kill the sea monsters.

The Protoss fleet's originally orderly battle formation and rhythm were immediately thrown into chaos.

The puppet fleet completely ignored all of this, maintaining a steady pace of attack and advance, constantly closing in on the Protoss warships. Judging from their posture, they seemed to want to collide directly with the Protoss warships.

"Boom boom boom..." The war drums of the Protoss fleet sounded again. The divine generals who had been flying close to the sea returned to the sky one after another. The rescue ships also abandoned their comrades who were struggling for their lives in the sea. The entire Protoss fleet began to move backward, trying to widen the distance between itself and the puppet fleet.

The two outstretched wings also abandoned the several destroyed warships and quickly retreated. Wang Yao saw that on the ocean surface after the fleet left, the corpses of the divine soldiers were being torn apart by sea monsters and soon disappeared in the undulating waves.

At this point, it was clear that the Protoss warships were still very well-equipped. Once they retreated, they quickly increased the distance between themselves and the puppet ships, escaping the attack range of the demonic flesh cannonballs.

After the withdrawn warships rejoined Wang Yao's fleet, the war drums sounded again, and the Protoss warships once more formed a goose-wing formation, focusing their fire on the pursuing puppet warships.

Liang Shuai clearly had a full understanding of the puppet ships' attack methods, speed, and range. After firing several volleys of divine cannon fire, before they could even enter the puppet warships' firing range, the Protoss fleet sounded its drums again and retreated while maintaining its formation.

As they fought and retreated, the three parts of the Protoss fleet gradually converged into one place. After destroying hundreds of puppet ships, land gradually appeared, and the high sea walls of Thousand Sails Harbor became clearly visible against the backdrop of the coastal cliffs.

Once again, a loud horn sounded from the Protoss fleet. Wang Yao noticed that the entire fleet's course was gradually deviating from Thousand Sails Harbor and heading towards the vast ocean to the north.

It seems that Commander Liang has abandoned the plan to fight from the sea wall and intends to continue flying kites on the Ocean of No Return, slowly wearing down the enemy's strength.

As the Protoss fleet sailed away, the puppet fleet surprisingly did not spare any strength to attack the sea wall. They were like a swarm of flies that had smelled rotting flesh, relentlessly pursuing the Protoss fleet, while the Protoss fleet responded with alternating attacks and retreats, maintaining perfect order.

Before they knew it, the battle had gone from day to night. The stars began to twinkle in the sky above the Ocean of No Return. After a day of fierce fighting, the Protoss fleet was still in good formation, and the divine soldiers and generals on the warships were equally spirited. The sounds of drums and horns continued to ring out in an orderly manner from time to time.

Wang Yao had already put away "Immortal's Sorrow" and returned to the deck of the warship. After looking around, he found nothing new. He felt that Hu Mei seemed to have run out of ideas. She had already lost nearly a thousand puppet ships by kiting the Divine Race warships, but she seemed to have no effective countermeasures at all.

Groups of magical warriors drifted over from time to time on the sea. These products of the city sacrifice could actually swim and could not drown in the Ocean of No Return. Wang Yao could see through the ship's side that some magical warriors were catching inferior demons in the sea and eating them while bobbing up and down around the god's warship with the waves.

Occasionally, war demons would stand on their bodies, indicating that war demons cannot stay in the sea for long. Those war demons treaded on the magic weapons, constantly shaking off the seawater, their scarlet eyes coldly staring at the god warships.

Suddenly, horns sounded again from the fleet. Wang Yao realized that the ship beneath his feet was rapidly turning. After flying the kite, the Protoss fleet had returned to its orderly formation of the vanguard, middle force, and rear force, which were interdependent yet relatively independent, and had only allowed one side of the fleet to maintain contact with the puppet fleet.

However, during this turn, most of the central army, including Wang Yao's, broke away from the vanguard and rearguard and sailed alone towards Qianfan Port.

"What's going on?" Wang Yao was stunned. He hurriedly rode back onto "Immortal's Sorrow" and ascended into the air. Only then did he realize that, at some point, the rear of the Divine Clan fleet had been blocked by the puppet fleet. Puppet ships were slowly pressing towards the Divine Clan fleet in a crescent shape in the ocean.

Clearly, while the Protoss fleet was flying kites, Hu Mei and her team didn't rest either. Instead, they mobilized a portion of the puppet fleet to make a large detour, and then appeared from the north, south, and west at this moment, completely blocking the Protoss fleet's ability to maneuver and roam the ocean.

If it weren't for the fact that one side of the Protoss fleet was always close to the coast, they might have been secretly surrounded and wiped out by the puppet fleet.

In this situation, the Protoss fleet would be forced to retreat to Thousand Sails Harbor. In order to maintain the formation, the central force would need to retreat first, leaving room for the vanguard and rearguard to move.

Otherwise, once the entire fleet is surrounded by the puppet fleet, the Protoss fleet will lose all its advantages in range and mobility. At that point, kiting will become a war of attrition, a situation that the Protoss fleet must try its best to avoid.
