If risking one's life to break the Eight Gates Killing Formation could do so, that would be fine. But I fear even risking one's life would be futile. Lu Bu's words earlier were absolutely true...
"Silver armor? The kid is quite knowledgeable, knowing that I have a set of silver armor. Don't worry, we don't need silver armor here, ordinary equipment is fine. Right now, there's no one in the Six Realms who can make me wear silver armor. Hurry up, there's no time to spare. Let's take down the Demon City first and then come back to chat."
The Queen Mother of the West blinked her eyes, and with a swift movement, Wang Yao felt himself being led out of the tent and straight towards the Decapitation Demon City.
"Hey! Slow down, slow down..." Wang Yao was truly startled and broke out in a cold sweat.
As he watched the surrounding scenery flicker, Wang Yao realized that the Queen Mother of the West was not using "teleportation." She was simply walking normally, but at an extremely fast speed, and soon disappeared into the forest.
"Thank goodness, the old woman knew how to take a roundabout approach and didn't head straight for the death trap." Wang Yao kept muttering to himself, but then he heard shouts coming from behind him.
It turned out that when Swift Wind Ghost King, Zhang Liang, and Lü Bu saw Wang Yao being dragged away by the Queen Mother of the West, supposedly to attack the Demon City, they thought it was incredibly reckless and hasty. Hundreds of thousands of troops hadn't even been mobilized yet; how could they possibly fight? So, they all assumed that their commander had been kidnapped by the Queen Mother of the West.
This is a huge problem. With Wang Yao gone, who will lead the reinforcements from the Three Realms? Moreover, the loss of their commanders on the battlefield means they cannot escape responsibility under military law. Although the military laws of the Underworld and the Demon Realm are far less severe than those of the Demon Realm, they still cannot explain why they lost their commanders.
Fortunately, the Queen Mother of the West simply carried Wang Yao around the Decapitation Demon City at high speed, without using "teleportation" or fleeing far away. They were still able to track the two of them, but no one dared to go up and directly rescue the commander-in-chief, not to mention that they couldn't keep up with their speed.
So these ghosts and demons could only mobilize their subordinates to chase and shout behind the Queen Mother of the West and Wang Yao. In a short time, eight or nine out of ten ghosts and demons came out of the tent, and they followed the Queen Mother of the West like wolves, howling incessantly.
But they kept a great distance, for fear that if the old woman turned around and changed her attitude, those who were close by might not even have a chance to escape.
Because the God of Reclaiming the Sea was in charge, the gods were relatively calm. The God of Reclaiming the Sea knew his great-aunt's temperament and was certain that she would not kidnap or kill Wang Yao. The old lady was a bit old, but she was far from being insane.
But the Goddess of Filling the Sea never expected that the two immortals would go to attack the Decapitation Demon City like this. She casually instructed the divine soldiers beside her and hurriedly chased after them, her speed much faster than that of the screaming underworld ghosts and demons.
As for her divine soldiers and generals, most of them sensed something was wrong and left their tents. However, since they had not received instructions from the God of Filling the Sea, they simply stood at a distance outside the tents to watch the excitement. Some of the more curious ones followed a group of ghosts and demons, making a fuss.
"Female benefactor! Quickly put down my parents!" Wang Yao felt that he had just stood up and his legs were still weak when he heard a crisp voice. He looked in the direction of the voice and saw Hui Shuo riding the Cloud-Ascending Beast and circling above his and the Queen Mother of the West's heads, with the wooden fish already in his hand.
"Little monk, your mount is quite interesting. Let this old woman take a look."
The Queen Mother of the West chuckled and beckoned to the Cloud-Ascending Beast. The beast disobeyed Hui Shuo's command and fell straight down. Its body quickly transformed into that of a kitten, running to the Queen Mother of the West's side and rubbing its head against her repeatedly, acting as if it had met its master and acting coquettishly.
"Ouch!" Hui Shuo suddenly lost his mount in mid-air and was about to fall. Fortunately, Wang Yao had been watching closely and knew that Hui Shuo was seriously injured and could not withstand such a fall. He hurriedly ran forward and caught him in his arms.
Just as Wang Yao caught Hui Shuo and hadn't put him down yet, Wu Ying and Qin Su emerged panting from the forest. They were visibly relieved to see Wang Yao unharmed, and then stared at the Queen Mother of the West with tense expressions.
Not long after, Lu Ban arrived with his twin puppets. He must have heard the cries of the ghosts and fairies, so he immediately stood in front of Wang Yao as soon as he appeared. The twin puppets stood quietly to one side, assuming a protective stance for Wang Yao.
"Grandma, what are you doing?" The Goddess of Filling the Sea arrived shortly after. As soon as she appeared, she rushed in front of the Queen Mother of the West and shouted, half complaining and half coquettishly.
"Hehe, my little darling, are you hungry? No rush, no rush..." The Queen Mother of the West squatted down and stroked the Cloud-Ascending Beast, taking out some food from her bosom and feeding it to its mouth. The Cloud-Ascending Beast slurped and ate with great relish.
Since Wang Yao obtained the Cloud Ascension Beast in the Underworld, he has never fed it. Hui Shuo is even less aware of this, since they don't even know what the Cloud Ascension Beast's diet is. This celestial beast is indeed able to endure hunger, and it usually doesn't show any abnormalities.
But at this moment, they encountered the Queen Mother of the West, who carried its food with her. Wang Yao and Hui Shuo were completely forgotten. It simply followed the old woman. The Queen Mother of the West seemed to be overflowing with maternal instincts, feeding and teasing the Cloud-Ascending Beast while completely forgetting the reason why she had kidnapped Wang Yao.
Wang Yao put down Hui Shuo and looked around. He saw that this place was just like the north gate of the Execution Demon City. It was a wide road, but the roadside had not been cleared by Jingwei. There were still neat wooden stakes standing on both sides, with the severed heads of gods hanging on them.
Although the heads had long since turned into grotesque skulls, the remaining long, tangled hair of varying colors on some of them suggested that most of these heads likely belonged to goddesses. The degree of decay in the heads also allowed for a rough estimate of when they were killed.
