"You brat, don't be ungrateful! Without me, you'd still be circling outside the Execution Demon City!" the Queen Mother of the West roared.
"I like going in circles, I love going in circles, so what? I'm even planning to withdraw my troops and not attack the Decapitation Demon City, so what? What heavenly law have I broken?" Wang Yao was also displeased upon hearing this.
"You brat..." The Queen Mother of the West pointed at Wang Yao, her expression one of extreme anger.
"Huh? Who said this little fellow is quite intelligent, good-looking, respectful to elders, calm and composed in critical moments, and has the talent of an immortal?" Laozi interrupted Xi Wangmu and asked her in surprise.
"That was just something I made up on the spot, and you actually believed it?" The Queen Mother of the West rolled her eyes at Laozi.
"Oh, Grandma, you've praised me like that before?" Wang Yao was delighted to hear the Queen Mother of the West say he was good-looking, and asked with a smile.
"Hmph, I personally investigate all the newly famous juniors in the Heavenly Court. It's quite impressive that you were able to help me break the Eight Gates Killing Formation of the Decapitation Demon City without any prior preparation," the Queen Mother of the West said with a gloomy face.
"Oh, so you tricked me to test me?" Wang Yao suddenly realized.
"Who tricked you? You completed your trial mission by conquering the Decapitation Demon City, didn't you?" the Queen Mother of the West said angrily.
“That’s true. Now I finally understand why the girl who was filling in the sea was crying so sadly. You older folks, why do you always turn good things into bad things? This habit is really bad, you have to change it.” Wang Yao scratched his head and said with dissatisfaction.
"Who are you calling your sister?" the Sea-Reclamation God roared from the side.
“She’s your great-aunt. I called her great-aunt and she responded. Doesn’t that make us siblings? I think I have a son who called you aunt, right?” Wang Yao pointed at the Queen Mother of the West in a serious manner and turned to explain to the God of Filling the Sea.
"What? My grandson is here too? Where is he? Where is he?" Ao Guang glared at him with his big eyes and came forward, making a lot of noise.
"You're taking advantage of me! I'm actually thousands of years older than you..." The Lord of Reclaiming the Sea was truly enraged.
"Oh dear, isn't it better for a girl to be young? Forever eighteen, forever a little sister, how beautiful!" Wang Yao teased her with a smile.
"Yes, yes, what's so good about being old and decrepit like us? Do you want to have a face full of wrinkles like this old lady?" The Queen Mother of the West chimed in, adding fuel to the fire.
"Grandma, whose grandma are you anyway?" The Sea-Reclamation God stamped his foot in anger.
"Since you're so willful, I think it's more reliable for me to be this child's great-aunt. After all, we're all immortals, and we can see each other anytime we want," said the Queen Mother of the West.
"Grandma...!" The God of Land Reclamation stomped his feet and screamed in exasperation.
"Alright, alright, you'll have plenty of time to make up your kinship later. I, the old man, still have a big gift to give to the Old Man of the Moon." Laozi interrupted Wang Yao and the other two's quarrel with a smile.
"Who claimed to be related to him?" The God of Land Reclamation glared at Wang Yao angrily.
When Wang Yao heard that Laozi had a gift for him, his heart tightened. He had no connection with Laozi whatsoever. Laozi had only remembered Zheng, the chief god of Golden Horn Bay, when he complained about cleaning up his mess. And now Laozi was saying he had a big gift for him…
"Damn it, there's no such thing as a free lunch. The old man probably wants me to clean up his mess at Golden Horn Bay. Why should I?" Wang Yao had suffered enough losses, so he was more surprised than pleased by Laozi's words. He stared wide-eyed, waiting for Laozi to continue.
"Boy, being enfeoffed as a god or beheaded is a matter of abandoning one's body to become an immortal. To the gods and demons, they are all going to die." But then, Laozi focused his voice and sent a message that made Wang Yao almost jump out of his skin to his ears.
"However, let's put the grand gift aside for now. You led the reinforcements to attack the Demon Realm of Decapitation, but you delayed all the way, fearing the enemy and failing to advance, causing huge losses to the God and Demon Realm and even Golden Horn Bay. The culprit also escaped. So we have to punish you first." Unexpectedly, Laozi then said loudly.
"Uh..." If it weren't for what Laozi had whispered earlier, Wang Yao would have already exploded. But now that those words had served as a warning, Wang Yao felt he should give the old man some face and not piss him off. Otherwise, he might be beheaded, deified, or made an immortal. That would be utterly terrible.
"What? You're still not convinced?" Laozi glanced at Wang Yao, but was actually trying to wink at him.
"Um... what exactly happened? Even if you're going to punish me, you have to make me do it willingly, right? Why is the Demon Realm not guarding the Sea-Reclaiming Divine Realm and the Beheading Demon Realm?" Wang Yao hesitated for a moment before finally asking the question that had been bothering him for a long time.
From the moment he set out to gather reinforcements at Bird Return Ridge, Wang Yao had been on tenterhooks the entire way, all the way to the execution of the Demon City. With only a handful of underlings at his disposal, how could he dare to risk his life? His fear of the enemy was genuine, but the delays were unavoidable.
But what's really strange is why Hu Mei didn't want the Sea-Reclaiming Divine Realm after receiving it? Not only did she give up such a vast Sea-Reclaiming Divine Realm to Wang Yao, she even gave up the Decapitation Demon Realm. Otherwise, how could Wang Yao's reinforcements have been so lucky as to break through the Decapitation Demon City?
So Wang Yao was always very curious about what kind of evil had possessed these demon lords, Hu Mei and those foreign gods, that made his support army achieve success all the way to the end, and even get criticized by Laozi for moving too slowly.
"Tongtian, would you please answer our questions and resolve our doubts?" Upon hearing this, Laozi looked at Tongtian, the Demon Lord.
"I...I don't know much about it either..." Tongtian Demon Lord stammered, his dark face turning purple with embarrassment.
