Chapter 478 A Marriage Across Realms

"It's nothing serious. Right now, the most important thing in the God and Demon Realm is reproduction and survival. Although your actions may cause some minor chaos, they are in line with the Great Dao and will only benefit the future recovery and development of the God and Demon Realm, not harm it."

Laozi shook his head. Although he was comforting Wang Yao, his brows were still tightly furrowed, and his eyes looked around as if he was waiting for something.

Not long after, the rain gradually stopped. Wang Yao took the Rejuvenation Pill given to him by Laozi and regained his mobility. Feeling that there was no other movement around him except for him and Laozi, he simply sat cross-legged on the beach and asked Laozi about the doubts in his heart.

"Your Excellency, I have a question that I am unsure about. May I ask you for your advice?" Wang Yao asked.

"Ask away." The Supreme Being gave a casual hum, then looked up at the sky with his eyes slightly closed, as if sensing something.

"Your Excellency, was it you who arranged for Master Lu to inspect the magic array of Tongtian Demon City?" Wang Yao asked.

"It was arranged by Si Chen, but I had the same idea. Lu Ban is proficient in puppetry, so it would be most appropriate for him to check the magic array of the puppetry master Saruman." Laozi did not move and only nodded slightly.

"When Master Lu returned, he mentioned that the magic array in Tongtian Demon City was likely used to create shadow puppets. I wonder if the Supreme Lord has heard of this?" Wang Yao stared at the Supreme Lord Lao and continued to ask.

"I am not deaf. Although Lu Ban lowered his voice to speak to you, I believe that I am not the only one present. Everyone else probably heard it," Lao Tzu replied calmly.

"I wonder what the Supreme Lord thinks of the Shadow Puppet?" Wang Yao then asked.

"I can't really offer my opinion, I've just heard some rumors. It's said that those puppets, let alone their close friends and family, don't even know they're puppets, yet they'd die for their masters." Laozi finally turned to look at Wang Yao.

"So, it seems that the Supreme Lord has some understanding of the Shadow Puppet. But I wonder if the Supreme Lord thinks the Shadow Puppet poses any threat to our Six Realms, and if so, is the threat large or small?" Wang Yao stared fearlessly into the eyes of the Supreme Lord Laozi and asked, word by word.

"You don't need to beat around the bush. I know what you mean. You're upset that I interrupted you several times earlier when you mentioned the magic array of the Heavenly Demon City and brought up the topic of shadow puppets, isn't that right?" Laozi asked directly with a slight smile.

"Doesn't the Supreme Lord feel that the Demon Lords, especially the Shadow Puppet of the Decapitated Demon Lord, are highly suspicious?" Wang Yao asked bluntly.

"Oh? This old man doesn't understand. You say there's suspicion of a shadow puppet being used in the beheading, but do you have any evidence?" Laozi looked completely astonished.

"It's not just the beheading; the other demon lords also have problems. They were completely manipulated by Hu Mei and a group of foreign gods, who carried out large-scale city sacrifices that hurt their own people and pleased their enemies. In the end, they almost lost their lives as well. In my opinion, they really don't act like demon lords at all."

"The decapitation is even more obvious. If he wasn't a shadow puppet, how could he have let Hu Mei and Yang Shen destroy his million-strong army without batting an eye? Moreover, it's highly suspicious that Hu Mei and Yang Shen were able to let him return to the Decapitation Demon City at the crucial moment of the magic array's operation."

"Especially after he was captured by the Queen Mother of the West, he spouted a series of fallacies and heresies, and was extremely self-righteous. Where was there even a trace of remorse or repentance? I think that if you let him return to the Heavenly Court, you will probably plant a bomb in the Heavenly Court that could be detonated at any time."

Wang Yao spoke candidly about his suspicions regarding the various demon lords, especially the one who had been beheaded.

"You've said so much, but I think it's all just speculation and doesn't amount to any solid evidence," Lao Tzu said with a shake of his head and a smile after hearing Wang Yao's words.

"That's why I've been trying to steer the conversation toward the Shadow Puppet, to confront the Demon Lord who was beheaded, and to relentlessly investigate until the truth comes out. But why did the Supreme Lord keep interrupting me?" Wang Yao said angrily.

"What makes you think you can get to the bottom of this? Let's assume Xia Geng is the Shadow Puppet for now, but don't forget, he doesn't know it himself. How can you get him to willingly admit that he is the Shadow Puppet?" Laozi raised his eyebrows and asked.

“Whether he admits it or not is irrelevant. As a shadow puppet, how could he not leave clues? As long as we seize on his clues and keep at them, when he can no longer justify himself, even if he still denies it, we can be certain that he is indeed a shadow puppet,” Wang Yao said confidently.

"According to what you're saying, I can suspect that you, the Matchmaker, are also a puppet." Upon hearing this, Laozi's tone suddenly changed, and he looked at Wang Yao with a serious expression.

"I... why do you think I am...?" Wang Yao was a little confused by Laozi's question, blinking for a long time before stammering out the question.

"You surely understand the principle of speed in war, right? Why was the reinforcement's movement so slow after setting off from Bird Return Ridge? It gave Hu Mei and Yang Shen ample time to prepare, allowing them to easily escape capture by the Heavenly Court," Laozi said solemnly.

"I...didn't I already say that we don't know Hu Mei and her group's plans? We're afraid of falling into their ambush," Wang Yao replied, taken aback.

"Didn't you send out scouts before you set out? The Netherworld Ghosts are natural-born scouts, wouldn't you have used them?" Laozi continued to press, glancing sideways at him.

“Uh…of course…we sent them…” Wang Yao blinked, inwardly realizing something was wrong.

"Isn't this the end of it? The scouts must have told you that they haven't spotted any enemy troops, yet you still hesitate to move forward. Aren't you deliberately buying time for the Hu Mei and Yang Shen? What are you waiting for?" Laozi looked relaxed, but his questions were aggressive.
