However, there was a time limit for Wang Yao to report to the Heavenly Court's Merit Examination Department. Fan Xian and his wife were worried that Wang Yao would miss the deadline and lose his ministerial-level position. They exchanged glances and discussed with the Sun-Shooting God for a long time, and finally persuaded the Sun-Shooting God to temporarily abandon his plan for a grand celebration.
Then the singing and dancing resumed, and everyone played music and festivities to send Wang Yao and Fan Xian off to the entrance of the interdimensional passage. There, the Lord of Shooting the Sun personally toasted Wang Yao with three cups of authentic Shooting the Sun Spring wine, and watched Wang Yao and the others cross the boundary before stopping.
The Heavenly Court's Merit Examination Department is subordinate to the Heavenly Court Organization Committee (referred to as the Heavenly Court Organization Committee), but its offices are located independently outside the Heavenly Court Organization Committee, making it a branch of the Jade Emperor's Palace.
Wang Yao had visited the Jade Emperor Palace once before when he went to the Heavenly Court's General Supply Bureau to obtain the interface panel. He knew that the Jade Emperor Palace was not just a palace, but a complex of buildings.
Heading north from the colossal immortal statue that stands tall in the center of Taiqing Immortal City, you actually enter the area of the Jade Emperor's Palace. In other words, the northern half of Taiqing Immortal City is where all the Heavenly Court and even the various agencies of Taiqing Immortal City are concentrated.
Most of the ordinary institutions are located near the giant immortal statue, while the more core institutions are located further north. To the north of Taiqing Immortal City, directly opposite the giant immortal statue, stands the majestic Jade Emperor Mountain. Major power institutions of the Heavenly Court, such as the Six Peace Committees of the Heavenly Court, are located on the summit of that Jade Emperor Mountain.
The Department of Merit Examination, an important functional department of the Heavenly Court Committee for assessing, selecting, and appointing immortals, is located halfway up Jade Emperor Mountain, occupying a large area of courtyard-like buildings on its own.
It wasn't close to the Heavenly Court Supply Bureau on the main road at the foot of the mountain. If it were a mortal, it would probably take half a day to walk there. However, Wang Yao and the others were immortals, so they weren't affected by the distance. The three immortals arrived while chatting and laughing.
