Chapter 83 Ambiguous

Wang Yao was only thinking about how to rescue Zhen Huai and whether his method of severing the marriage would actually work. Little did he know that his nod would solidify his status as a master. Each person's perception of this was different, and their gazes towards Wang Yao changed accordingly.

Wei Dafa breathed a sigh of relief. Since Zhen Huai said that Wang Yao had a solution and Wang Yao had agreed, whether there was a real solution or whether it could actually solve the problem was not important for the time being.

With Wang Yao's promise, he could take advantage of the situation and ask Qiu Dingxiong to help him get acquainted with the chief constable of the Progressive District. After all, to rescue Zhen Huai, the final solution would have to be the Progressive District police station. Qiu Dingxiong was at most a transitional figure; as long as he was appeased, he could succeed.

Of course, if Wang Yao can really resolve this matter, Wei Dafa will naturally try to win Wang Yao over in the future. Having such a master in charge will certainly be beneficial to his business.

Qiu Dingxiong had a different idea. He didn't believe Wang Yao at all, and naturally had no hope for Wang Yao's promises. He wasn't a relative or elder of Wang or Zhao, so what kind of women they liked or what tricks they played had nothing to do with him, Qiu Dingxiong.

It would be best if the two of them were clear-headed, but if they weren't, it would only harm themselves and Wei Dafa and his wife. Whether the problem was solved or not, Qiu Dingxiong really didn't care. His Xingfu District Police Station wasn't just about these two constables; would the sky fall down without them?

The reason I brought these two women here today was simply to give a token of appreciation to Wei Dafa and his wife. Wei Dafa had begged me countless times for his wife's sake, and I had privately lectured Wang and Zhao, asking them why they were so infatuated with this fat woman, who wasn't some stunning beauty.

But Wang and Zhao wouldn't listen to reason, and there was nothing he could do. Today, with several people in front of him, he would say a few perfunctory words to teach Wang and Zhao a lesson, which would also be a way of giving Wei Dafu an explanation. It wasn't that he didn't want to help, but these two boys were simply bewitched.

As for Wei Dafa's superstition about Wang Yao and his desire to solve his wife's problems through the master, his attitude was simply to welcome it. It didn't matter if Wei Dafa used him as an excuse to persuade Wang Yao, since Wei Dafa had always been very respectful to him, he had to give him that much face.

So whether or not he helps Zhen Huai is actually not really Wang Yao's business; it all depends on whether Wei Dafa's box of lotus root starch is effective.

To be honest, Qiu Dingxiong didn't think much of the two so-called masters that Wei Dafa had invited to today's banquet. In his eyes, they were nothing but two charlatans.

Having worked in the police station, I've seen all sorts of strange and wonderful things. I've long since stopped believing in superstitions. If there were so many masters in this world, what would be the point of having a police station?

However, since Wei Dafa was willing to believe the swindlers, that was his business. As long as the two swindlers didn't offend him, he didn't mind playing dumb and watching the show.

As for Wang Yongjin and Zhao Risheng, they barely ate any food, their minds completely focused on Chen Ke, and they didn't pay any attention to what Wang Yao said.

After hearing Wang Yao's words, only two people at the banquet were truly taken aback.

One of them was Chen Ke. Although she didn't give Wang Yao a friendly look on the surface, she believed Zhen Huai's words even more than her own husband, Wei Dafa. She had already been skeptical of Wang Yao's abilities, and when she saw Wang Yao nod, she immediately panicked.

On the one hand, she was naturally hopeful of getting rid of the endless harassment from Wang Yongjin and Zhao Risheng. On the other hand, she remembered that she had offended this Master Wang quite a bit in the past, so she was very uneasy, fearing that Wang Yao would hold a grudge against her.

The other one was none other than the wish-fulfilling master. He never expected that two masters would appear at the same banquet. He knew the secrets of a master and didn't believe that Wang Yao was truly capable. He was certain that Wang Yao was also there to scheme against Wei Da for money.

Now, Ruyuan was a little worried. After all, he planned to make a big move on Wei Dafa and was determined to take all of Wei Dafa's property. Unexpectedly, there was now another master. It was like two mice eyeing the same piece of fat meat.

His plans were inexplicably thrown into flux by Wang Yao's appearance. He sat there calmly, countless thoughts racing through his mind.

There was one last person at the table, Zhang Ying, who had suddenly gained attention and was now seated there because of Zhen Huai. She was curious about Wang Yao being a master, but didn't feel much for him, since her heart was still with Zhen Huai.

The people at the table had different thoughts and spoke in riddles and cryptic language, each trying to convey their own meaning. Originally, Wei Dafa and his wife were somewhat disappointed with Qiu Dingxiong's attitude, since the problem of his wife being harassed was still unresolved. However, with Wang Yao's nod, it was as if there was always a way out.

As for the second purpose of this banquet, rescuing Zhen Huai, Qiu Dingxiong didn't see how much lotus root starch was on the table, so he naturally wouldn't make any promises. Of course, he wouldn't make any definitive statements either. Qiu Dingxiong was already an expert at how to play the long game and catch big fish.

Of course, there was a third matter at the banquet, but since the first two matters had not yet been settled, Wei Dafa was not in the mood to bring them up. As for Ruyuan, she certainly did not want too many people to know, so she did not take the initiative to speak up, and the topic of "the portable master" was put aside.

Wang Yao joined the party halfway through the drinking session. He listened to everyone talking, but even about many things related to Zhen Huai, he was still confused and couldn't make sense of it. So he could only hum and haw until the banquet ended.
