After listening for a couple of sentences, Wang Yao understood the reason behind it, and he pondered it for a moment.
Now he understands very well that all the behaviors and rituals related to marriage in the human world, such as dating, blind dates, betrothal gifts, marriage registration, and even wedding banquets and wedding ceremonies, seem quite formal and legitimate.
In reality, without the blessing of his matchmaking system, it would all be bullshit and wouldn't be considered a true marriage.
Wang Yao had discussed true marriage several times and understood it very well. It had nothing to do with whether someone was rich or poor. It was like what Wei Dafu said to Chen Ke: what's yours is mine, and what's mine is yours. It was also like what Zuo Han said to Song Aifen: no matter how big the problem was, I'd take care of it.
It was a complete and mutual commitment. Now it seems that although Xiao Li complained, he still cared a lot about his girlfriend. However, it's hard to say how his girlfriend treated him. But since she was willing to marry him, she probably wasn't too bad.
The key issue is that this isn't a proper marriage, so it's mixed with too many other things, making it less pure. Wang Yao can handle this kind of thing; he's the matchmaker, specializing in curing all sorts of... ill-fated relationships.
"Where is your girlfriend? I'll go talk to her." Wang Yao said calmly to Xiao Li, his eyes fixed ahead.
"You... want to talk to her...?" Xiao Li looked at Wang Yao in astonishment, then shook his head dejectedly.
"It's no use. We've talked to her countless times, but this old hag's brain is made of granite. She's so stubborn. She just says that if I don't agree, she won't be able to hold her head up at home, and she'd rather be dead. How can we talk when she's threatening to kill herself?"
“Just because you can’t talk to her doesn’t mean I can’t talk to her. I’ll tell her a reason that she’s sure to accept, and I promise I’ll never ask you for a dowry again. But if you’re really going to go out of your way to give it, then don’t blame me.” Wang Yao turned to Xiao Li and smiled mysteriously.
"How could that be? Do you think I have too much money to burn...?" Little Li opened his mouth to retort, but when he saw Wang Yao's mysterious smile, a sudden chill ran down his spine. He realized that this Mr. Wang was a suspected master-level figure, perhaps... perhaps...
"My girlfriend works at a shop on Fuqiang North Road..." Xiao Li mentioned to Wang Yao, almost as if he were in a trance. Wang Yao realized that it was quite close to Fanrong Lane, where he lived. Fuqiang Road is a main street, and Fanrong Lane is a small alley next to it.
"Oh? That place is quite close to my house, let's go take a look first," Wang Yao said. Xiao Li nodded as well; he had bought several kilograms of "mock eggs" and planned to deliver them to his girlfriend as well.
As darkness fell and the streetlights came on, Fuqiang Road was bustling with activity, with people coming and going. Xiao Li wandered around for a long time but couldn't find a place to park. The traffic police here were very skilled, with sharp eyes. If you parked illegally, a tow truck would come and tow you away in less than five minutes without saying a word to you.
Xiao Li drove all over Fuqiang North Road but couldn't find a single empty parking space. He had no choice but to point to the shop his girlfriend was looking after and let Wang Yao go there first, while he continued driving south, looking for a parking space along the street.
He thought that Wang Yao would talk to his girlfriend for at least ten or eight minutes to persuade her, but to his surprise, Wang Yao didn't even need to say a word. He just got out of the car, flipped his hand, and the interface panel was already firmly in his hand.
Wang Yao originally planned to create a coincidence in front of Xiao Li and his girlfriend to see how it would go, since the shadow of the Chen Ke incident had not completely faded from his mind.
Since Xiao Li couldn't leave the car, Wang Yao didn't insist. He would find out whether it would work or not sooner or later, so there was no need to be too anxious.
Holding the interface panel, Wang Yao walked directly to the outside of Xiao Li's girlfriend's shop. Inside, the shop was brightly lit, and Xiao Li's girlfriend was holding a mobile phone, making all sorts of strange gestures and expressions while looking at the screen.
Wang Yao wasn't old-fashioned; he knew that Xiao Li's girlfriend was taking selfies. Most women who take selfies look like this, exuding charm. Wang Yao couldn't bear to look anymore, so he didn't need to go into the store. He simply opened the display panel at the store entrance and pointed at Xiao Li's girlfriend with a light touch.
"You little brat, are you blind? Where are you going to crash into?!" Wang Yao was looking for Xiao Li in the interface when he suddenly heard a loud curse. He turned around and saw a child playing on a skateboard who had bumped into a well-dressed man. The man immediately got angry.
The kid jumped off the skateboard, spat several times at the man, and then ran away. It was as if the kid had a faucet in his mouth, and he didn't know where all that saliva came from. The man's face was covered in saliva, both foamy and dry, as if he had been drenched in rain.
The man was stunned for a moment, wiped his face with his hand, looked at the dripping saliva on his hand, his nostrils twitched, and a stench hit him right in the head. He was both shocked and angry, howled and was about to grab the child, but unexpectedly a woman rushed out from the side and grabbed the man's face with her claw.
"You damn scoundrel, bullying a child! Xiao Bao, hit this son of a bitch!" The woman shouted as she grabbed him. Hearing the woman's shouts, the child squeezed out from the crowd again, his pocket already filled with broken stones and bricks, and threw them at the man.
The child must have been professionally trained, as his aim was excellent. He hit the man's face several times, and several large bumps visibly swelled up on his head.
Realizing the situation was unfavorable, he stopped shouting and silently moved closer to the woman, engaging in close combat. After a rapid burst of fire, the boy ran out of bullets and nervously observed the enemy's formation from the side.
