Chapter Ninety-Three: Before the Battle

"How about I go and take a look at Changsheng University again?" Wang Yao said.

"Forget it, going over there is too risky. Everyone's busy, and no one can go with you." Xi Da Zui shook his head. "How busy is Yang Gu?"

"The proactive diversion channels are ready, Prosperity Lane 2 is basically in place, and the main debate hall has been structurally completed. Yang is currently dividing up the sub-debate halls while doing the final touches on Prosperity Lane 2," Ma replied.

“Well, the main part is almost done. Let’s go through the active diversion channel and make some adjustments,” Xi Da Zui Ba said. “Ma Gu, you control the active diversion channel, and then watch my hand gestures to guide us directly to the main debate hall.”

"Okay," Ma Gu replied.

Xi Dazui, Hua Gu, and Wang Yao did not enter the house but went downstairs directly. Wang Yao walked to Xi Dazui's door and looked around. Zhu Gu and Wang Gu were nowhere to be seen. Only Ma Gu was sitting there, holding an iPad and watching intently.

If you didn't know better, you'd think he was watching a TV show.

The three walked out of Fanrong Lane. It was already late at night. Not only was Fanrong Lane deserted, but the entire Fuqiang North Road was also dimly lit, completely lacking the lively scene of the daytime.

Wang Yao discovered that in just a short time, the plastic panels at the entrance of the alley had been removed, and it looked no different from before.

The three of them left the alley, walked a short distance, then turned around and walked back. Along the way, the night breeze was gentle, and they didn't feel anything. Wang Yao and the others walked into Fanrong Alley again.

"Attention, Xi Fu, Hua Tuo, and Wang Yao are entering Prosperity Lane No. 2. Attention..." Wang Yao suddenly heard Ma Gu's voice.

"So we've already entered Prosperity Lane No. 2?" Wang Yao looked around in astonishment. He hadn't felt anything at all, and there hadn't been any changes. This... he had already entered another space?

"Hunchback, what do you think?" Xi Fu asked Hua Tuo, looking around as he stood a little further inside the alley.

"Old Yang's skills are impeccable; I don't see anything wrong with it," Hua Gu shook his head.

"It's too deserted; it'll arouse suspicion," Xi Fu said, frowning.

"Desolate? Where is it desolate? It's exactly the same as when we came out just now!" Wang Yao was a little confused.

“It’s late at night now, so it’s naturally quiet, which is fine. But our plan is to start the operation in broad daylight. Even if the operation is scheduled for the night, no one knows how long it will take. Turning from the bustling Fuqiang Road into a deserted alley, don’t you have any doubts?”

As Xi Fu spoke, he turned to look at Wang Yao, then at Hua Tuo.

"How many people?" Hua Tuo asked.

"Just make three or four, not too many. The alley isn't very crowded anyway. The main thing is to create some foot traffic at the entrance so that people can quickly disperse once they come in, and they won't notice anything unusual," Xi Fu added.

"I'll take two." Hua Tuo agreed, took out paper and scissors from his pocket, hastily cut out a paper figure, and casually threw it away. The paper figure landed and turned into a slightly hunched man, who walked out of the alley with his head down.

"Damn it, can you be serious? You're a hunchback, and if you cut out a person, they'll still be a hunchback. Look at the world, where are there so many hunchbacks?" Xi Fu cursed as he pulled scissors and paper out of his pocket.

When Wang Yao saw Hua Tuo cut out a paper figure that looked just like a real one, he was dumbfounded. When he looked back, Xi Fu also cut out one and it fell to the ground. It was the old lady who raised James. Seeing her walking into the alley with her chest puffed out, Wang Yao thought she was rushing to go to square dancing.

"I'm old and my eyesight isn't good enough. I can't cut anything fancy." Hua Tuo muttered, but his hands were a bit slower. With a wave of his hand, a young man skipped and hopped away towards Fuqiang Road. The hunchbacked man came back at this moment and just brushed past the young man.

Wang Yao noticed that the hunchbacked man's facial features were clear, but perhaps because he already knew that the man was a paper doll, he felt that the man's expression was very wooden.

In the end, Xi Fu cut out familiar faces from Fanrong Lane. After all, he had lived in Fanrong Lane for a long time, so the paper figures he cut out were based on real people and not just random cuts.

"It's just a simple illusion. You can learn this after you level up a few more times. It's not very useful in normal times, but you'll rely entirely on your spiritual power when you're out in the open." Seeing Wang Yao's curious expression, Xi Fu explained it to him like a teacher.

Wang Yao observed that the four paper figures followed a certain pattern, moving back and forth at the alley entrance. At the shortest time, there was only one person, and at most, all four appeared at the same time, but they never faced the same direction.

"Alright, let's go check out the main debate hall." Xi Fu raised his hand and snapped his fingers. Wang Yao felt a blur before his eyes, as if he had been teleported, and then he entered a new space.

He saw that the walls of the space were emitting a bright white light, and dark blue slabs, like dominoes, were being laid out from bottom to top, rapidly filling the white-glowing walls.

Not far from him, there were already two wooden lecterns, and a beam of strong light, very similar to the white light on the four walls, shone on one of the lecterns.

Jiao Gu was busy at the podium.

"Old Jiao, this isn't good. We can't give the professor too much of a sense of ceremony, as it can easily fuel his fighting spirit. Make it warm and cozy, with a sofa around the perimeter, just like home decor, like those relationship talk shows on TV."

Upon seeing the two lecterns, Xi Fu immediately shook his head in dissatisfaction. "Old Zhu and the others did a good job, using a blue background wall, which has a restraining effect on professors."

"Understood..." Jiao Gu replied. To Wang Yao's surprise, the two lecterns collapsed rapidly in front of him as if they had melted. Then, a sofa slowly rose from the ground. Wang Yao could clearly see that the sofa was made of fabric.
