Wang Yao was utterly shocked. The sensing medium wasn't very large, so to detect and silently destroy those two things would require either a stroke of luck or a powerful being at the Nascent Soul stage or higher, and someone who was particularly vicious and prone to causing trouble.
After all, the two little ones didn't bother him at all. Anyone who would cruelly kill cute little creatures just because they're ignorant and not properly educated at home must be a psychopath with antisocial tendencies!
The two sensor carriers must have encountered trouble near a divine town called Thirty Miles Ahead. Wang Yao immediately descended to the Immortal Sorrow, intending to release the sensor carriers again, adjust his route, and avoid the dangerous place called Thirty Miles Ahead.
The place beneath his feet was quite far from the Sun-Shooting City, and the sun was much gentler there. In the distance, the green mountains were like dark eyebrows, and crops were planted in the nearby fields. Several divine beings were working in the fields with their bodies bent over. Wang Yao landed next to a willow tree by the edge of the field.
An ox was leisurely grazing under a tree, its tail gently swishing to shoo away mosquitoes and flies. Wang Yao had Xian Jianchou float low in the air, while he himself jumped down, raised his hand and pressed it against the willow tree trunk, activating the "Five Elements Sensing Technique" once again.
This time, only two sensory carriers were emitted, which did not consume much spiritual energy.
"You're so arrogant, aren't you? Haven't you died enough yet?" Suddenly a voice entered Wang Yao's ears. Wang Yao was startled and hurriedly stopped casting his magic. He nervously turned his head and looked around, but he couldn't see a ghost.
Is something wrong with my ears? Am I hallucinating or what? It can't be that serious! I'm not easily scared; if I realize something's wrong, I can change course without any problem. Why would I be so paranoid?
Wang Yao shook his head in confusion. Although it was a very strange thing for an immortal to have auditory hallucinations, he couldn't find the reason for his hallucinations. After hesitating for a while, he put his hand on the tree trunk again and decided to continue using the Five Elements Sensing Technique.
"You silly boy, stop acting crazy and come here to me." The voice appeared again.
Wang Yao's hand trembled, and he turned around to look around. He saw that the fields were quiet, and the figures of the gods in the distance rose and fell among the green rice seedlings. They did not seem to be talking to him. The oxen beside him were leisurely chewing on the tender grass by the field, and their eyes were peacefully looking at him.
"What the hell is going on?" Wang Yao was stunned for a long time. He quickly sensed his entire body but still couldn't find anything wrong. So he raised his hand again and tried to stick it to the willow trunk.
"Damn it, are you looking for death? Why won't you listen to advice?!" The voice suddenly rang in Wang Yao's ears again. Wang Yao turned around and stared intently at the oxen beside him.
"Damn it, is that you talking?" Wang Yao asked fiercely.
"You brat, who else could it be but me? Do you know how much risk I took to warn you? Hurry up and come here!"
The ox was chewing grass and didn't seem to be talking to Wang Yao at all, but Wang Yao was still certain that the voice was coming from the ox's mouth. Moreover, Wang Yao finally realized that the accent was very familiar, and he had already recognized who was speaking.
"Feng...Feng Xian, is that you?" Wang Yao asked in astonishment, staring at the ox.
“Thirty Li Pu, Yue Lai Inn,” Big Mouth of the Ox chewed leisurely.
"Hey, what are you doing there? Hey...hey..." Wang Yao called out again, but the ox actually flicked its tail, turned its rear end towards Wang Yao, and leisurely walked away from him.
"Thirty Mile Post, Yuelai Inn? Does that mean Feng Huan confiscated my two sensory carriers? What the hell is he up to now? You do your trial mission, I'll do mine, why the hell are you interfering?" Wang Yao was very unhappy.
But right now he really had to meet with that Feng Huan. He didn't know what had gotten into that kid, but he actually started meddling in his affairs. Wasn't that getting in the way? Fortunately, Thirty Mile Shop wasn't far away, and it was on the way to Gale Fortress, so it wouldn't take up too much time.
I need to have a frank talk with Feng Huan. Helping each other out is fine, but if he tries to sabotage me, he'll be in big trouble. I'm a legitimate spy in the God Realm now, killing him is just a matter of minutes.
So Wang Yao stopped using the Five Elements Sensing Technique. He mounted Xianjianchou again, checked the direction, twisted his right wrist, and hurriedly headed towards Sanshilipu.
Thirty Miles is a small town, clearly recently ravaged by the demon army, with ruined buildings and signs of looting scattered throughout the town.
Although the demon army intended to capture the Sun-Shooting City and merely passed through here, the area still suffered considerable damage.
The Yuelai Inn is located on the main road of the town. Half of its facade was burned, but it was still able to operate. It looked like a group of unfortunate brothers, huddled together with the other destroyed shops on the same street.
This main road leads directly to the City of Shooting the Sun. At this time, most of the people traveling on the road are refugees. The Shooting the Sun Divine Realm is relatively stable now, and most of these people are on their way home. Some wealthy refugees have also used the Yuelai Inn as a temporary resting place.
Wang Yao stopped Xianjianchou in front of the Yuelai Inn, folded it up and put it in his pocket, squeezed through the pile of refugees in front of the inn, and pushed open the inn door.
"Please come in, sir! Our restaurant offers the Sun-Shooting Set Meal, local dishes, and wine specially supplied to the gods. We also have elegant private rooms, which will surely make you feel at home!" A waiter shouted as he rushed to Wang Yao, his face beaming with the warm smile of someone seeing a relative.
"Sir, are you here for a meal or to stay at the inn?" the waiter asked solicitously.
