In contrast, the gods were much better off. Even though most of the lower-ranking gods did not know the divine fire magic that posed a significant threat to inferior demons, they were more knowledgeable and experienced. They could maintain their formation during attacks from inferior demons and cooperate with each other to kill as many inferior demons as possible.
In fact, the lesser demons are not very lethal. As long as you don't panic, the casualties are basically under control.
The least affected are the Netherworlds, since these guys are energy beings and physical damage is meaningless to them. So the tricks that the Lesser Demons are good at are no threat to the Netherworlds. On the contrary, some of the Netherworlds' sinister methods are quite a threat to the Lesser Demons.
After a period of turmoil, Wang Yao quickly realized the differences in the strengths and weaknesses of his various units in dealing with the inferior demons. He then ordered the army to change formation and form an impenetrable wall. The Netherworld Ghosts were deployed to guard the outermost circle of the army, followed by the Divine Army, while the innermost part consisted of the demon race, which was already showing signs of chaos.
As for the immortals, they continued to scavenge and fill gaps around the army, efficiently clearing a path for the army to advance using the Samadhi True Fire, which the inferior demons feared most.
Through relentless and frenzied slaughter of the inferior demons, Wang Yao's army finally crossed the plains slowly but surely and entered the Whispering Forest.
Wang Yao didn't know what kind of trees were in the Whispering Forest in the past. All he could see now were bare tree trunks. The forest had long since died. The Samadhi True Fire could ignite a large area of dead wood, leaving it smoky and fiery, like the end of the world.
Because he was in the center of the army and surrounded by smoke, Wang Yao could only keep track of the army's progress through messengers. As he walked, he couldn't help but shake his head repeatedly, thinking to himself that the greening work still had to rely on the divine realm. The forest in front of him was perfectly fine, but it was destroyed by the demon realm.
As he was expressing his feelings, he suddenly heard a commotion from ahead. Wang Yao thought that the army had encountered the Demon Warriors again, so he frowned and released his "sensing".
The frequent appearance of magical weapons in Darkmoon City is quite strange. There aren't many magical weapons, so it's clear that the enemy didn't intentionally place them there. Moreover, those few magical weapons wouldn't even be enough to fill the gaps in the army's teeth, and they wouldn't play any role at all.
But Hu Mei's army had obviously retreated along this route, so why didn't these magical warriors leave with the main force? And why were they scattered here?
As he was wondering what was going on, his body suddenly sprang up and crashed into a large group of cockroach demons peeking out to his left. In his moment of madness, all he could see in his "sensory perception" was a blinding white light.
Immediately, a loud "boom" rang in his ears, and countless severed limbs flew everywhere, swirling and splashing outwards from Wang Yao's eyes, mixed with countless screams like ghosts wailing and howling.
Wang Yao fell flat on his backside into the Zhang clan's group of demons. His "sensing" was interrupted, and although many demons were knocked down by him, they still frantically grabbed his arms and legs and struggled to help him up.
He felt his body being dragged around, his eyes filled with the hideous faces of the cockroach demons, and his ears heard the mournful sound of horns from the army, each horn drawn out like a funeral dirge.
Wang Yao recognized the sound; it was the alarm he had previously set for detecting enemy Mahayana cultivators.
"Big brother, are you alright?"
"Lord of the Moon, let's retreat immediately!"
...
Wuying and Qin Su appeared among the demons, nervously staring at Wang Yao and shouting. Hui Shuo stood a little further away from them, but did not look at Wang Yao. Instead, he turned his head and stared at a place shrouded in smoke behind him.
His eyes were glazed over, he was muttering to himself, and the wooden fish in his hand had already flown into the smoke.
Wang Yao was helped to his feet by the demons and then noticed that a series of light and shadow burst forth in the direction Hui Shuo was staring at. The light and shadow flickered in the mist, sometimes bright and sometimes dim, and were unpredictable. But wherever the light and shadow went, it was always accompanied by a series of explosions and screams.
Immediately, the corpses and limbs of many demon soldiers and generals were flung out of the mist, as if a minefield in the mist was being detonated one after another.
"Four o'clock, Thunderbolt Fire!" Suddenly, a bird about half the size of a human, with a white beak and red claws, darted out from the fog, flapping its wings in mid-air and emitting a clear, sharp cry.
As soon as the bird's chirping ceased, a series of booming sounds erupted around Wang Yao, the very sound of "Ultimate Thunderbolt" being activated.
Dazzling beams of five-colored light shot into the mist, as if chasing the light and shadow. Then, bursts of explosions were heard from within the mist, and the dancing light and shadow gradually dimmed, seemingly disappearing into the mist.
"Beheading! Now that you're here, don't be in such a hurry to leave!" The bird with the white beak and red claws spoke again, flapped its wings, and plunged into the mist from top to bottom.
As the birds disappeared back into the mist, several urgent horn sounds suddenly rang out from all around, abruptly halting the roar of "Ultimate Thunderclap," clearly out of fear of accidentally injuring the birds.
