Chapter 116 Prove Your Sincerity to Your Sister-in-Law

After finishing the last sip of the delicious soup, Zhang Youye got up and pulled Zhang Huaiyi out of the hall.

He sat down on the sofa, made sure no one was in the living room, opened the video on his phone, and handed it to Zhang Huaiyi.

After just one glance, Zhang Huaiyi frowned instantly: "She took it?"

"It's pretty close to the truth." Zhang Youye nodded.

"What can I do to help you with?" Zhang Huaiyi asked.

He put away his phone, shook a cigarette out of the pack and put it in his mouth, then tossed one to Zhang Huaiyi.

He lit the cigarette with the lighter, took another drag, and stared at the tiny scarlet tip without saying a word.

His chaotic thoughts seemed to drift into past memories along with the wisps of smoke at the end of his breath. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke up to give his instructions.

"Find out what she did abroad, and ideally, find some solid evidence. She has new developments regarding Uncle Shuyi's case, and I'm going to use that to blackmail her."

"How could she possibly have that? Are you trying to trick me?" Zhang Huaiyi seemed unconvinced.

“Who knows?” Zhang Youye shrugged, flicking his cigarette ash. “I met her at SAVE tonight. She said she had dinner with Shu Chuanran, but didn’t show him any of the documents. Judging from her expression, it seems to be true.”

"If it's real, why didn't you snatch it?"

"I was trying to steal it, but your sister-in-law suddenly appeared."

Embarrassed, Zhang Youye touched the tip of his nose and explained dejectedly.

"I kept my meeting with Qin Miyou a secret from your sister-in-law. I was worried she would be angry and ignore me, so I didn't have time to think about it."

"I knew it." Zhang Huaiyi spread his palms, pushed up the gold trim on his nose, and smiled smugly.

"No wonder you brought him home so late. Brother, is this to prove your sincerity to your wife? It turns out even a prince can be tamed."

“I say, Emperor Nan, don’t be so quick to laugh at me.”

Zhang Youye glanced sideways at Zhang Huaiyi and chuckled teasingly. He leaned back lazily on the sofa, offering a kind reminder.

"Don't disbelieve me, if this happened to you, I reckon you'd be even more dramatic than me."

At that time, Zhang Huaiyi obviously didn't take Zhang Youye's words to heart.

After all, the female guest who was touted as the "Heartthrob of the Jingzhou Circle" is currently still abroad.

However, if he knew that his brother's words today would actually come true in the future.

There might even be scenes of forced acquisition and robbery, and he probably won't be so nonchalant anymore.

Of course, that's a story for another time.

Emperor Nan, who had no ability to foresee the future, leisurely rose from the sofa and walked slowly towards the door.

He casually and nonchalantly dropped a sentence.

"Thank you for your concern. I'll go back and have someone check it out. I'll leave things here to you. Goodbye."

Watching the girl serving dishes brush past him and disappear through the gate, Zhang Youye, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, shook his head and smiled.

He returned to the inner hall only after hearing his name being called beside him.

...

We had a very formal family dinner, though it was hard to tell whether it was a late-night snack or dinner.

The three elders then led Shuyi into another side hall in the secluded garden to enjoy the flowers and drink tea.

Upon entering the secluded side hall, Shu Yi was once again stunned by the unique scenery and gasped in amazement.

I thought to myself: The lighting here is even better than during the day.

Sitting beside Zhang Youye on a stone bench similar in size to the ancestral home, Shu Yi, concerned about the Zhang family company, asked, "Dad, Second Uncle, how's the company doing?"

"The company is fine." Hearing Shu Yi's very natural way of addressing him, Zhang Jinnan showed a gentle smile. "Fortunately, we were careful and specially arranged for some people to be on duty at the company that night, so the Qin family's tricks did not cause us any losses."

"Besides, the Qin family can't cause us any real harm. The reason they're trying to get rid of us is simply to keep us busy so they can target the Shu family."

As he spoke, Zhang Jinnan sighed tactfully.

"I never thought they would actually dare to target our Zhang family, which resulted in us not having time to say hello to your uncle and even caused your grandfather to be hospitalized."

"But Yiyi, don't worry too much. The old man is very lucky and will definitely wake up."

To avenge his wife, Zhang Youye asked, "Dad, are we really powerless against the Qin family? Why don't we think of a way to sabotage Qin Zhengjing's election?"

“Youye, don’t do anything reckless.” Thinking of Zhang Youye’s unruly nature, Zhang Zhiting solemnly warned, “This matter needs to be considered carefully. Right now, the most important thing is to rescue Uncle Yiyi first.”

"As long as the Shu Group is without a leader, if we anger the Qin family, they will launch a commercial war against Chuan Ran. How can Chuan Ran resist that?"

Following Zhang Zhiting's words, Zhang Jinnan added.

“Your second uncle is right, especially when it comes to company interests. These things aren’t like what’s shown on TV, where you can just fight or intimidate someone and it’s all over.”

"The fact that the Qin family dares to do this shows they're impatient. To deal with impatient people, we need to wait for them to slip up before we can catch them. That way, we'll have the initiative, understand?"

After a pause, Zhang Jinnan put down his teacup and asked, "Yiyi, did your aunt go back to the ancestral home and cause trouble today?"

Before Shu Yi could respond, Zhang Youye, his handsome face dark with anger, explained in a cold voice.

"Yes, Qin Zhi is such a fool. She didn't help when her husband was taken away for investigation, and she didn't even visit the old man in the hospital. She's just a pawn in the Qin family's game every time. Doesn't she care about being gossiped about behind her back?"

Perhaps influenced by her son's tone, or perhaps out of sympathy for her daughter-in-law who had suffered such humiliation.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Jinnan snorted coldly: "Don't worry, I've already arranged for someone to spread the word."

"It won't be long before everyone in the industry knows about this. Qin Zhi is just stupid and doesn't realize it. Hopefully, this time, Renxuan will see her true nature and divorce her."

"Otherwise, he would have suffered a setback at her hands."
