Chapter 141 The Jealous King's Defenses

It's 10 p.m.

It was pitch black outside the window, leaving only withered branches, devoid of green leaves, swaying in the cold wind.

I woke up from my sleep.

Shu Yi subconsciously turned her head to look to one side.

The familiar figure was not in the ward; only Zhang Huaiyi was sitting on the sofa in the distance.

He possessed the same noble air as his brother, holding a pillow in his arms and leaning against the wall with the back of his head.

It looks like he's resting with his eyes closed.

She coughed lightly to wake him, and with an embarrassed smile, Shu Yi said, "Huaiyi, don't stay here guarding. Go back and rest if you're tired. Where's your brother?"

"Sister-in-law is awake? My brother went out to buy you some food." Zhang Huaiyi explained, stretching his sore neck. "He thought the food in the hospital didn't taste good and was worried you wouldn't like it. I'll leave when my brother comes back."

Shu Yi gave a soft "hmm" and then fell silent.

Noticing that Shu Yi wanted to get up from the hospital bed, Zhang Huaiyi took a step forward, bent over and rocked the bed to a suitable height, then thoughtfully adjusted the air conditioner temperature and tucked a pillow behind her back.

Looking at it this way, Shu Yi began to feel that the two brothers had completely different personalities.

It's not that Zhang Youye is incapable of taking care of people; compared to Zhang Youye's unruly nature, it's just that Zhang Huaiyi is more reserved than his brother.

From the very beginning, Zhang Huaiyi gave Shu Yi the impression of being steady and refined, with extremely elegant gestures.

"Huaiyi, I've never heard your brother mention that you've ever had a boyfriend?" Shuyi asked with a smile.

"No, not at all." Zhang Huaiyi handed the water glass to Shu Yi, adjusted the gold trim on his nose, and waved his hand politely. "When I'm abroad, I'm either studying or on my way to study. I don't have the energy to think about this kind of thing."

"You're just as handsome as your brother, yet no girls pursue you?"

"Yes, there are, but none of them are my type."

The conversation seemed to have started in a few words. As if suddenly intrigued, Shu Yi put her water glass aside and asked him, "So what type do you like?"

The moment the question slipped out, an unforgettable, familiar figure reappeared in Zhang Huaiyi's mind.

His pale lips were unconsciously tugged at the corners, and a glint flashed in Zhang Huaiyi's eyes behind his glasses as he smiled without saying a word.

Catching the smile on his lips, Shu Yi wanted to ask more questions, but the ward door was suddenly pushed open gently.

Thinking that Shu Yi was still asleep, Zhang Youye deliberately tiptoed in, but when he opened the door and saw the two of them chatting and laughing, his face instantly darkened.

He slammed the door shut behind him, strode over to his brother's side, and slapped him across the face.

"Get out of here!"

"Why did you hit Huaiyi for no reason?" Shu Yi said anxiously. "We were just chatting."

He gave Shu Yi an unquestionable smile in the blink of an eye, then sneered, "Can't I be unhappy?"

As he spoke, he put down the food in his hand and gave Zhang Huaiyi a cold glance.

"Don't you know the difference between men and women? The other person is a married woman. What's there to talk about with your brother's woman? Hurry up and go back. Uncle Wu is downstairs. I'll take care of things here."

Too lazy to argue with this love-struck, jealous husband, Zhang Huaiyi nodded to Shu Yi and left.

As the door was gently closed, Shu Yi turned her gaze to Zhang Youye, who was busy preparing food.

Speechless at the jealous king's behavior, Shu Yi threw off the covers, stretched out her long legs, and with a mischievous smile, gently kicked the young master's butt.

"You jealous bastard! That's your brother, your blood brother! How can you be jealous of him?"

With his back to Shu Yi, Zhang Youye plated all the food he had bought. Then he turned around and placed the plates on the small table in front of her. As he handed her the chopsticks, a cold snort escaped his lips.

"Don't be fooled by this kid's appearance. He looks all refined and gentle, but he's got a lot of bad ideas inside him."

"Don't talk nonsense, Huaiyi is so refined." Taking the chopsticks, Shuyi didn't believe it at all.

Sensing the doubt in her tone, Zhang Youye pulled up a chair and sat on the edge of the bed. He reached for a cigarette but then remembered they were in a hospital. He crossed his arms, adopting a serious demeanor, as if he wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with her.

"So you were fooled by his appearance? He looks so refined and elegant with his gold-trimmed hair, right? Let me tell you, he's just a refined scoundrel."

“I always remember when I was a child, several families came to visit our house. I don’t know if this kid disliked another kid or what, but he tricked him into coming to the pond where we kept fish.”

"And then? He pushed the person down?" Shu Yi's eyes widened.

"No, I was just curious and went over to take a look. I only saw him say something to the other person, and then the other person jumped into the pond. It scared the adults half to death, but luckily they were rescued in time."

Having said that, Zhang Youye casually leaned back in his chair, noticing the shock in Shu Yi's dark pupils.

"Let me tell you, this kid is full of bad ideas. To put it bluntly, he's lucky he's my brother. If he were any other family's son, I would never let him see you. Who knows what this kid is up to?"

Sensing the unspoken wariness in his words, Shu Yi picked up a piece of sushi and held it to his lips, but remained silent.

"You don't even know what kind of person your brother likes, is it really necessary to make such a big deal out of it?"

"Do you know?" Zhang Youye asked, raising an eyebrow as he took a bite of the sushi.

"I don't know." Shu Yi shook her head. "I was just about to ask when you came back."

Because she was half-asleep, the thin blanket covering her body was pulled aside by Shu Yi.

Even though she was wearing a hospital gown, her fair skin below her neck and her great figure were still exposed to Zhang Youye's gaze.
