Chapter 152 Second Sister, I Saved Your Life

Two weeks later.

The entire Shu family was discharged from the hospital one after another.

Having already sustained injuries, and further aggravated by the shock, Shu Renxuan regained consciousness after several days in a coma.

Inside the ancestral home's villa.

After being picked up from the hospital by Wei Bo and Shu Chuanran, Shu Renxuan's condition has improved considerably after resting and recuperation.

Upon learning from Shu Chuanran that he had completed the divorce proceedings with Qin Zhi, Shu Renxuan remained silent at first, then took the tea handed to him by his daughter and drank it all in one gulp. He pursed his dry lips, appearing as if he had seen through everything.

"From now on, the three of us will live together."

"Dad, don't be sad. My brother and I will always be with you," Shu Qianxin comforted him softly.

"Yes, Dad, stop paying attention to that shameless woman. Whether she lives or dies is none of our business anymore. She's been lying to you for so many years—"

Before he could finish speaking, Shu Qianxin tugged at his clothes, stopping him from saying more.

A long sigh escaped his hoarse throat. Knowing that he could no longer hide the matter, Shu Renxuan had no choice but to ask them.

"You all knew?"

“That day, Brother Youye was afraid you would soften your heart again, so he went out with you too.” Shu Qianxin said, while observing Shu Renxuan’s expression.

"When he saw you faint, he quickly called the doctor. Later, Grandpa asked us about it, and that's how we found out. Dad, don't worry about it. Anyway, she's already moved back to the Qin family."

"Did she take all her things with her?" Shu Renxuan asked casually.

"We weren't happy to go back. Only Uncle Wei went back for a look, and he probably took everything with him."

Helped out of the house by Shu Qianxin, and standing in the courtyard still filled with the fragrance of flowers, Shu Renxuan truly felt that he had been too wasteful of the resources in the past.

Why would someone choose to live in a cold, impersonal villa instead of such a beautiful, spacious courtyard?

Shu Renxuan took the coat from Shu Chuanran and put it on, then glanced at his children who were by his side.

Just then, a gust of cold wind blew in.

The corners of the hems of the three people's clothes were blown by the wind at the same time.

At this moment, Shu Renxuan suddenly recalled a past event, remembering that his first encounter with the brother and sister was in this very courtyard.

It was the same weather, and they seemed to be standing in the same spot. Qin Zhi hugged them, looking at him with trepidation, and asked him what to do.

Looking at the baby crying loudly in its swaddling clothes, Shu Renxuan felt a pang of pity and simply said something.

"Why don't you stay with us?"

Fortunately, this kindness was not trampled on or betrayed, unlike her love for Qin Zhi.

The baby in swaddling clothes back then has now grown into a grown-up, sensible and obedient.

They did not disappoint the Shu family's upbringing, nor did they disappoint him and his father's expectations.

Time is a devil; it feels like only a blink of an eye, yet so many years have passed in a flash.

Supported by the two, he strolled slowly in the courtyard for a long time. Feeling somewhat tired, he stopped and looked up at the sky.

The next second, he suddenly grasped the hand supporting his arm and moved his neck to look at Shu Chuanran.

"Ranran, have someone sell that villa."

“After Yiyi marries into the Zhang family, Grandpa will be living here alone again. We will live here from now on so we can keep him company more often.”

Shu Chuanran paused for a moment as he supported his father, then nodded and replied, "Okay, I'll have someone handle it right away."

Shu Chuanran told Shu Qianxin to stay and keep her father company, then turned and left the courtyard.

Walking along the corridor leading to the Moonlit Hall, Shu Chuanran gave instructions on handling some matters related to the villa before hanging up the phone.

As he turned the corner, he saw Shu Yi stepping out of the doorway. He was delighted and quickened his pace to greet her.

"Where is Second Sister going?" he asked.

"The Zhang family is coming to visit tonight, so I thought I'd go check on the kitchen while Grandpa is resting."

After saying that, Shu Yi walked straight towards the kitchen.

During their time away from the hospital, the brother and sister lived in the ancestral home to make it easier to take care of their uncle.

Shu Yi, in order to take care of her grandfather, never returned to the Zhang family garden.

This also resulted in her bumping into Shu Chuanran at different locations and times every day.

Seeing that Shu Chuanran habitually followed in her footsteps, keeping close by her side, Shu Yi could only turn her gaze to his arm again.

"How are you feeling, Uncle? But is it really okay for you to remove the bandages so quickly?"

Fortunately, Shu Chuanran has maintained a fitness routine for many years and is in excellent physical condition. If he hadn't been unable to bear Zhang Youye's mocking gaze, he wouldn't have argued so strongly and insisted that the doctor remove the bandages in order to be discharged from the hospital.

Receiving the concern, Shu Chuanran smiled and waved his arm.

"It's okay, I don't feel any major problems, it doesn't hurt or itch. My dad is also very nice, he just told me to sell the villa, saying that I'll live here from now on, so I can keep Grandpa company."

Shu Yi gave a soft "hmm" and then carefully gave further instructions.

“Your uncle has suffered so much, you and Qianxin must spend more time with him now. Don’t be fooled by your father’s wealth; he is also a pitiful person.”

Walking side by side with her on the beautiful flower-lined path, Shu Chuanran put his hands behind his back, gazed at her cool profile for a moment, then lowered his eyelashes slightly and followed her steps, walking forward in rhythm with her.

Subconsciously glancing behind him, Shu Chuanran looked away, pursed his lips, and called her name.

"Shu Yi".

"What's wrong?" Shu Yi stopped in her tracks.

"That time in the office..."

Before he could finish speaking, Shu Yi interrupted him with a warning look.

Knowing that she was worried that Zhang Youye would find out, she was even more reluctant to bring up the topic. Shu Chuanran clenched her fist behind her back, then slowly relaxed it.

"Second sister, I saved your life, you know that?" He smiled slightly.

"I know." Shu Yi glanced at his burning gaze and said calmly, "So Grandpa is very grateful to you, as is Zhang Youye, and the Zhang family, everyone is very grateful to you."

"And what about you?" Shu Chuanran asked in return.

"I?"

"Hmm, will you thank me too?"

Shu Yi paused for a moment, standing still.

Her brow furrowed suddenly, and her naturally fluttering eyelashes lowered slightly, as if she was thinking about what words of gratitude would please Shu Chuanran without giving him any inappropriate thoughts.

Seeing her deep and troubled expression, Shu Chuanran suddenly chuckled, "Second sister, you're so cute."

As soon as he finished speaking, Shu Chuanran subconsciously reached out his palm, wanting to gently rub Shu Yi's lowered head.
