Chapter 168 You will always be the most important person to him

Seemingly noticing her silence, Zhang Ningying continued to explain before Shu Yi could respond with a sigh.

"Thanks to you, even though he seems carefree now, he understands the meaning of cherishing someone better than anyone else. And I can tell that Chuanran likes you a lot too."

"Otherwise, the two of them wouldn't have been racing cars in the middle of the night. When I came here, Righte's father told me to tell you that when Righte wakes up, you shouldn't blame him. He only did such a dangerous thing because he loves you too much."

She is, after all, the daughter-in-law that the Zhang family has been longing for. It would be a shame if this matter prevented the two from getting married.

Not to mention that Zhang Youye, who is currently in a coma, would disagree, Zhang Jinnan would definitely disagree a thousand times over.

After Zhang Ningying finished her earnest words, Shu Yi was surprised to find that she was so important in the eyes of the Zhang family.

Shu Yi smiled and changed the subject, completely erasing the taboo surrounding Zhang Youye's life from her muddled mind.

“My aunt and Zhang Youye are indeed family. He's especially afraid I'll be angry with him. But I didn't say anything, so why do you think I'd blame him?”

The Zhang family isn't stupid.

Even if Zhang Huaiyi kept it a secret and refused to tell.

Based on their behavior over this period, the others could still guess that Shu Chuanran liked Shu Yi.

First, he risked his life to rescue Shuyi from the kidnappers, and now he's playing a life-or-death car chase with Zhang Youye.

Why did Shu Chuanran do all this? What was his motive?

It's all about Tu Shuyi.

In Zhang Youye's eyes, someone who is willing to risk their life for love is a formidable rival, and also someone who is close to him.

Even though the two have already registered their marriage.

Unfortunately, without holding a wedding ceremony, even though Shu Yi never expressed anything to Shu Chuanran.

In the Zhang family, it was imperative to help Zhang Youye keep his future daughter-in-law in check.

Thinking of this, Zhang Ningying explained with a smile.

“We don’t think you’ll blame him, but we understand that he truly loves you.”

"As his family, of course we have to help him keep your beloved by his side. Silly girl, you will always be the most important person to him. What if he wakes up and finds you gone? Wouldn't he go crazy?"

You can hear the two layers of meaning in Zhang Ningying's words.

Shu Yi didn't reply, but silently looked at the tall figure lying on the hospital bed.

Outside, the sky was gradually darkening.

The streetlights outside the window have already taken over their duties.

Before long, flashes of silver light suddenly appeared outside the dim window. In the howling cold wind, large swathes of silvery objects were swept up and fell unexpectedly from the sky, landing on the windowsill with a soft rustling sound.

As she heard Zhang Ningying packing up the lunchbox, Shu Yi shifted her neck and turned her head to look out the ward window.

"It's snowing," she said softly.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Ningying looked out the window, her voice filled with the shock of seeing the first snow: "It's actually snowing! It's been so many years since it snowed in Jingnan."

"Auntie, when was the last time it snowed in Jingnan?" Shu Yi asked with a light laugh.

"Last time?" After thinking for a moment, Zhang Ningying shook her head helplessly and continued to bend down. "It's been too long, my aunt doesn't remember. When people get old, even their memory gets worse."

Watching Zhang Ningying pack up her lunchbox, and hearing her say she was going back, I watched her leave the ward, and before she left, she stopped at the door to give Shuyi some final words of advice.

"Don't stay up too late, get some rest. Your aunt will bring you food again tomorrow."

"Okay, I understand." Shu Yi nodded.

As the ward door was gently closed, Shu Yi got up and walked to the bedside.

Noticing that there wasn't much fluid left in the IV drip, she slowed down the flow rate and pressed the nurse call button on one side.

When the nurse pushed open the door to the ward, Shu Qiyi and Uncle Wei followed behind. To make room for the nurse to change the IV drip, Shu Yi sat down next to her grandfather.

"Grandpa, how is Chuanran?" she asked.

"Second Miss, the doctor just gave Young Master Chuanran an injection, and he's asleep now," Uncle Wei replied.

"It's good that you've calmed down." Shu Yi nodded, then glanced at the clock on the wall, which was almost pointing to seven. "Grandpa, let Uncle Wei take you home. I'll stay here. It's snowing outside, you need to take care of yourself."

As he spoke, it seemed as if he had thought of something else.

Shu Yi took the backpack and handed the marriage agreement, which she always carried with her, to Shu Qiyi.

“Grandpa, I’ve been meaning to tell you this. This marriage certificate was taken by my father when he left home. After I got the marriage certificate with Zhang Youye, he accompanied me back to Jiaxing, and I brought it back with me.”

Taking the yellowed, old marriage certificate, Shu Qiyi slowly lowered his eyes and gently stroked its surface.

"I never imagined that it would be Yishi who took it away."

At the end of his sentence, with a long sigh, Shu Qiyi did not open the marriage agreement, but instead handed it to Shu Yi.

"Yiyi, you can keep it. Since your dad took it away, it belongs to him. Keep it safe, as a keepsake for you."

"Okay." After putting away the marriage agreement, Shu Yi said, "Grandpa, the snow is getting heavier and heavier. If it accumulates, it will be difficult to drive the car. We have important business to attend to tomorrow. Why don't you have Uncle Wei take you home first?"

He waved his hand and said it was alright, then took the tea that Uncle Wei handed him and slowly leaned back in his sofa chair.

"No rush. It's good for Grandpa to spend more time with you. You've been staying here these past few days. Not only has your face become thinner, but you also look quite haggard."

"Yiyi, your uncle has dealt with most of the disloyal people in the company. That Shu Linzheng has also withdrawn from the shareholders' meeting. Grandma's grave is being moved tomorrow, and you don't need to go with her. Don't worry about anything right now."

"Grandpa, I..."

Before Shu Yi could open her mouth, Shu Qiyi waved his hand again.
