No one can outsmart this stubborn bastard.
The next day.
After receiving the medication from the doctor and listening to the doctor's repeated instructions, Zhang Youye was discharged from the hospital as he wished.
After helping Zhang Youye into the luxury car, Zhang Huaiyi held the door and turned to ask Shu Yi.
"Sister-in-law, are we going back to the ancestral home or to our place?"
"Let's go to the garden first." Shu Yi raised her hand to check the time. "Let's settle your brother in first. I need to explain to my aunt how to take this medicine. The doctor also prescribed Chinese medicine, and someone needs to watch over it while it's being brewed."
“Okay.” Zhang Huaiyi nodded. “I have something to do, so I’ll go first and have Uncle Wu take you back.”
Watching Zhang Huaiyi walk quickly towards the car ahead, Shu Yi asked curiously, "Where is your brother going?"
"Who cares about him?" Receiving a signal from Uncle Wu, Zhang Youye urged Shu Yi to get in the car, "Hurry up and get in, we need to go back quickly, there's a surprise waiting for you at home."
Forty minutes later.
Leaning against the deliberately slowed-down windowsill, Shu Yi gazed at the rose wall, which she hadn't seen in a long time, still as beautiful and pleasing to the eye as before, clearly showing that someone had been taking good care of it. Shu Yi turned around and met the deep, dark eyes beside her.
"What surprise? The flowers are still beautiful."
The bumpy ride caused his wound to ache slightly. Holding the wound on his chest, Zhang Youye smiled.
"We'll go straight back to my yard in a bit, you'll see once you're inside."
Noticing his movements and concerned about his wound, Shu Yi didn't ask any more questions, but simply instructed Uncle Wu to speed up the car.
...
After getting off the bus.
He handed the medicine to the maid in the house, and together with Uncle Wu, they arrived at the gate of the pavilion.
Just as she stepped into the courtyard, a dog barked unexpectedly beside her ear, followed by the shouts of a maid from inside the courtyard: "Little dog, it's the young master and young mistress who's back. Don't bark!"
puppy?
Where did this puppy come from?
Looking in the direction of the sound, one could see a fluffy Chinese rural dog lying not far away.
The puppy lay on its stomach with its little bottom sticking up high, staring fiercely at the visitor in a defensive posture.
As the three approached, the little dog sniffed around for a while and finally caught a familiar scent. It also noticed that its owner, who had brought it home, was giving it a wink. The dog immediately started circling around the three's feet.
After wandering around for a while, the puppy finally stopped at Shuyi's feet and sniffed her intensely.
"Where did this puppy come from? It's so cute." Touched by the puppy's adorable appearance, Shu Yi bent down and hugged the fearless little dog, smiling as she ruffled its fluffy head. "What's its name? Just 'Little Dog'?"
“Young Madam, the young master said he would name it after you come back, so we all call it Little Dog,” the maid replied.
Picking up where the girl left off, Uncle Wu explained with a smile.
“Young Madam, do you remember when you were kidnapped by those bandits, you told Uncle Wu to go and check the alley? This little dog was brought back by the young master when he was looking for clues there.”
"So that's how it is." Looking down at the puppy nestled obediently in her arms, Shu Yi turned to Zhang Youye. "I didn't expect you to remember what I said all this time."
Responding with a gentle smile, Zhang Youye leaned casually against the railing.
Under the bright morning light, his blond hair was covered with a thin layer of warmth, as if his whole body was enveloped in it.
He leaned against the wooden fence two steps away from her, his tall figure slightly hunched due to the injury to his chest, but he stared straight into her eyes and spoke earnestly.
"How could I possibly forget what my wife said?"
"This dog is very clever and has a cute appearance. Why don't you give it a name?"
When the name was mentioned, Shu Yi picked up the puppy in her arms and stared at it intently for a long time.
A faint aroma of meat wafted through the air. Shu Yi took a deep sniff, then smiled and hugged the puppy back into her arms.
"How about we call him Meatball? Look how chubby he is. Meatball suits him perfectly."
"Okay." Zhang Youye gently rubbed Rouqiu's head, then tapped its little nose, uttering a single word with each tap. "Remember, your name is Rouqiu. Your mother gave it to you, so you'd better remember it."
Gazing at his earnest demeanor as he taught his son, and noticing the smirking expressions of Uncle Wu and the maid beside her, Shu Yi chuckled and teased, "Who would have thought our young master would act so much like a father?"
With a slight raise of his eyebrows, Zhang Youye waved to indicate that Uncle Wu and the maid could leave. Leaning against Shu Yi's shoulder, he slowly walked into the house.
It had been a long time since I had returned to this house, and everything inside seemed exactly the same as before.
wrong.
Upon closer inspection, there are some differences.
For example, red paper-cut decorations of the auspicious sign pasted on the windows, and red curtains hanging on the exposed pillars of the house.
This place is even more exaggerated than when I first entered the house. Apart from the unchangeable floor and house layout, everything that Shuyi can see has turned red, even the cushions.
It's obvious that this was all arranged in advance by the young master beside me.
"You're starting to set up now? Isn't that too fast?" Shu Yi couldn't help but ask in surprise.
“How could it be fast?” He pulled her into his arms and slowly stroked her hair, as if caressing a precious piece of porcelain. “I think it’s too slow. I wish we could have the wedding tomorrow.”
"The wedding is still a little over two weeks away." Shu Yi counted on her fingers. "Although there are still a little over two weeks, it seems like we haven't done anything. Although we don't need to do anything, we haven't even taken wedding photos yet."
With my health in this condition, taking wedding photos has to be postponed.
Releasing her from his embrace, Zhang Youye met her gaze with a guilty expression and said apologetically, "I can't accompany you to take wedding photos right now. Let's take them together again once my injuries are fully healed, okay?"
