Chapter 25 Parting on Unhappily

The words, once spoken, were like ice water splashed on my face.

The air seemed to freeze for a moment, and the temperature around us dropped sharply.

For a moment, no one responded to Qin Zhi.

Only Shu Qiyi looked coldly into her eyes.

After all, she was a woman who had been formally married into the family, so how could Shu Qiyi not understand her true nature?

Over the years, Qin Zhi had devoted herself solely to her family. She never got too entangled with Shu Renxuan in company matters.

Some time ago, I learned from the company's shareholders that Qin Zhi had repeatedly interfered in the company's internal affairs over the past six months.

Now, she even has to offer opinions on the small design company that Shu Chuanran is using to practice managing.

If it weren't for the Qin family's interference, she, a mere woman, would never have imagined these things.

I never imagined the Qin family had such grand ambitions.

In an attempt to dethrone the Zhang family from their leading position, they are now even secretly using their married daughters as stepping stones for them, and are even planning to take action against the Shu family.

The Art of War by Sun Tzu.

They've completely figured us out.

...

In the silent living room, the atmosphere suddenly became strange. Grandpa did not respond, and Uncle and Aunt kept exchanging glances.

The elders remained silent.

The younger generation naturally dared not say a word.

Of the remaining two, one could only look at his mother with worry, while the other looked at Shuyi.

Unaware of Shu Chuanran's gaze, Shu Yi remained seated in her chair with an air of detached amusement.

It wasn't until she started to feel soreness in her lower back that she heard her grandfather let out a disdainful snort from his throat.

Withdrawing his cold gaze from Qin Zhi, Shu Qiyi said nothing more, only turning his head to give Shu Renxuan some instructions.

"I'll have someone contact you about what to do then, how big a spectacle to make, and who to invite."

"Grandpa, you..." Qin Zhi was furious when she finally got a response, only to be met with this.

Before Qin Zhi could finish speaking, Shu Qiyi waved his hand and then stood up from the main seat.

He took the dragon-headed cane handed to him by Wei Bo and slowly walked to Shu Chuanran.

After straightening his clothes, Shu Qiyi asked him.

"Ranran, how's the company? Are you settling in?"

"Your Uncle Wei also said you went to discuss a collaboration yesterday. How did it go? Did they sign the agreement?"

Together with Shu Yi, they helped their grandfather out of the living room. Shu Chuanran glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and smiled in response.

"Grandpa, I feel great. The new collaboration with them has been finalized. You don't need to worry about me. Take good care of your health."

Patting his grandson's hand, Shu Qiyi smiled with satisfaction, then turned to look at his other granddaughter behind him, his tone slightly reproachful.

"You silly girl, isn't it good to stay in Daddy's company? Why do you have to go out and make your own way in the world?"

She heard her grandfather's voice beside her ear, let go of her mother's arm, and squeezed past Shuyi to stand in front of her grandfather.

Shu Qianxin wrinkled her nose and pouted slightly.

"Grandpa, I don't like being controlled by Dad."

Although the two people beside him did not have the blood of the Shu family flowing in their veins, they were still comparable to the pitiful background of their own granddaughter, Shu Yi.

They were raised and cared for by Shu Renxuan.

The Shu family members were not ruthless or distant; since the Qin family didn't want them, they simply kept them by their side and raised them themselves.

Shu Qiyi was very gratified to see them grow up, and to see how they spoke, behaved, and treated others.

However, since the blood flowing through their veins belonged to the Qin family, Shu Qiyi sometimes worried.

If the Qin family and Qin Zhi join forces, and Qin Zhi whispers some nonsensical things in their ears, then the three of them can work together to help the Qin family.

Isn't that like raising two ungrateful wretches from childhood?

He sighed deeply and was helped to the hall by the two men.

Seeing that the clock on the wall was pointing to eleven o'clock, Shu Qiyi stopped and gestured for the others to stay for dinner.

"No, sir, we have other things to do."

After saying that, she gave her two children a look, but Qin Zhi still spoke up defiantly, clearly unhappy.

"Grandpa, having Shuyi with you is enough. I'll have them come and have dinner with you next time."

Before her younger sister could follow her mother's lead and speak, Shu Chuanran said, "Mom, I want to stay here with Grandpa. Dad has things to do at the company, you and my sister should go back first."

"You silly child..."

Before he could finish speaking, Shu Renxuan interrupted him.

“Okay, then let Ranran keep the old man company. Dad, I have a meeting at the company this afternoon. I’ll take Xinxin and her mother home first. Don’t worry about Yiyi’s dinner party, I’ll take care of it.”

After receiving a nod of approval from his father, Shu Renxuan grabbed Qin Zhi's arm and stepped out of the hall.

Following behind her parents, as she stepped across the threshold, Shu Qianxin turned her head to glance at her brother.

She tried to glean something from his calm, brown eyes, but her glance was too fleeting.

It's hard to tell what's going on.

His gaze unconsciously shifted to the right, and he met Shuyi's eyes again, who was standing next to his grandfather.

I learned from my mother that this new granddaughter is the daughter of an illegitimate child and has lived in Jiaxing since she was a child.

She was surprised that her grandfather was so affectionate towards this granddaughter he had never met before, after seeing her today.

No wonder Grandpa liked it.

She possesses an outstanding temperament and superior appearance, is not at all shy, exudes elegance in every gesture, and speaks with great manners.

She acted like a young lady from a prestigious family.

Thinking of her mother's instructions at home, Shu Qianxin simply nodded to her and turned to leave.
