The threat from the Qin family hadn't left his mind yet. After finishing a cigarette in silence, the joy of getting his marriage certificate with Shu Yi seemed to have completely dispelled the vexation in his heart.
A storm is always coming.
However, before the storm arrives, all the necessary tasks should be completed.
He stubbed out his cigarette and left the dining room with Wei Bo.
Upon arriving at the lobby of the reception area, Shu Yi and I bid farewell to Shu Qiyi, who was receiving a check-up from his family doctor.
The two stood at the gate of the ancestral home. Zhang Youye naturally took the backpack from Shu Yi's hand and raised an eyebrow, asking, "We were delayed a bit by the Qin family. Although we can't be the first couple, it's good enough to receive it. Shall we go now?"
At the end of her sentence, Shu Yi looked up at the sky.
The weather was fine and sunny, with layers of clouds and a gentle golden light. Being enveloped in the warmth emanating from the golden sun on the horizon made one feel exceptionally comfortable.
Such a beautiful day.
It's really a pity not to get a marriage certificate.
Putting aside the uninvited disturbance from the Qin family, Shu Yi tilted her head to look at him.
He stood backlit, so only his profile was visible. After a moment, she nodded and smiled softly.
"Let's go, let's go now."
Hearing her affirmative reply beside his ear, his palm, which was hanging by his side, paused slightly, and his earlobes suddenly flushed crimson.
His clear, dark eyes seemed to have been cleansed of all dust.
His eyes were filled with unwavering joy, nothing more.
Without saying anything more, Zhang Youye pulled her arm and quickly turned to walk towards the car.
...
Even if you rush, it still takes an hour to get to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Even before noon, the intense autumn atmosphere remained.
The dazzling light piercing through the clouds hangs like a golden thread across the sky, outlining the city's lifeblood as it is covered by a vast sea of gold.
Soon, the discreet yet sophisticated car came to a smooth stop in the Civil Affairs Bureau's parking space.
Unbuckle his seatbelt, gaze at the special sign that belongs exclusively to the Civil Affairs Bureau ahead, Zhang Youye's eyes suddenly darkened, and his white knuckles gripped the steering wheel tightly.
After hesitating for a moment, he turned his head to look at Shu Yi.
"Shuyi, there's no going back now. Are you really sure?"
After nodding in response to his question, Shu Yi pretended to push open the car door: "What's so special about today? There are quite a lot of people. Shouldn't we get a number and wait in line?"

The moment the words were spoken, the sound of the car door locking reached my ears.
Unable to open the car door, Shu Yi turned around in surprise, staring intently into his eyes: "What's wrong? Have you changed your mind?"
Zhang Youye released the steering wheel without making a sound.
He thought that as long as they stepped through that door, they would become a legally married couple.
What does a marital relationship mean? It means that both partners share the same responsibilities and must be honest with each other.
The idea of getting a marriage certificate might have been a spur-of-the-moment decision for Shu Yi, but it was something that Zhang Youye truly believed in.
Marriage has always been sacred and inviolable.
If the other party were not Shu Yi, he would never have so frankly expressed his reverence.
After looking down at her intently for a while, Zhang Youye pursed his lips, his eyes revealing an unparalleled sincerity.
“I have no regrets. I just want to tell you that you have always been a free and independent person, but entering into marriage means that we are teammates in the same trench.”
"Shuyi, are you really sure? If it's just a passing fancy, I'll respect your decision."
He paused for a few seconds, then almost silently added, "I won't force you if you don't want to."
His tone was sincere, yet tinged with a barely perceptible humility. Had Shu Yi not heard Zhang Youye's candid words at that moment, she might have truly wavered.
On the way to the Civil Affairs Bureau, the two did not exchange many words, but remained silent and immersed in their own worlds.
Having grown up in a loving environment, Shu Yi has also given careful consideration to the matter of marriage.
Because of her father and mother's example, Shu Yi's views on choosing a partner have always been very positive.
I may not have a particularly deep understanding of Zhang Youye, but my feelings are undeniable.
She had observed his character and conduct.
After listening to his solemn words, Shu Yi slowly reached out and took his hand.
“Zhang Youye, I’ve thought this through. I’m an adult, and I’ll take responsibility for whatever happens. I love freedom, but life needs more than just freedom; it also needs a place to call home.”
"Are you sure you want to settle down in my world?" He asked nervously, meeting her eyes.
“Of course.” She nodded firmly.
"So determined?" He raised an eyebrow and chuckled.
“I remember my dad saying something to me.” With her eyes slightly lowered, Shu Yi continued calmly.
“He said that if he meets someone he feels a connection with in the future, he must hold on tight, because this is a special opportunity given to him by God. If he doesn’t hold on, he doesn’t know when the next opportunity will come. So after meeting my mother, he didn’t even want the Shu family anymore.”
"If you seize this opportunity, what if another chance comes along soon? Wouldn't you then have another choice? What would you do then? Choose one or the other?" Zhang Youye chuckled and retorted.
“No.” Shu Yi shook her head, a rare firmness appearing in her starry eyes. “My dad said that when God gives you fate, He also gives you the right person. If two people are truly compatible, there won’t be a next time.”
Shu Yi paused slightly, holding his fingertips. Perhaps thinking of her father's gentle yet melancholy expression when he said those words, and her mother whom she had never met, she sighed softly.
"It's just that my parents' relationship was too shallow. Maybe this is the downside of being too compatible. Their relationship was so good, but they didn't grow old together."
