Chapter 74 Wanting Her Persistence

The oppressive gray sky persisted all afternoon, and even after the family dinner ended, no rain poured down from the sky.

The sky outside the window had already turned dark and gloomy, so it must be getting late. After watching Uncle Wei leave the dining room with his brother and sister, Shu Qiyi gestured for Shu Yi and Zhang Youye to get up and leave as well.

It was clear that Grandpa and Uncle still had things to discuss. After saying goodbye to Uncle, the two nodded and took their leave.

Walking in the courtyard, Shu Yi looked up at the pitch-black sky.

"An entire afternoon passed, and surprisingly, it didn't rain."

"I reckon it'll be time to log off around midnight." Zhang Youye casually pulled out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, and put his hands in his pockets. He then changed the subject, "Don't take what Qin Zhi said earlier to heart."

"What Qin Zhi? She's my aunt. Who calls her by her first name?" Shu Yi said helplessly.

"You son of a bitch."

After saying this, Zhang Youye took a deep drag on his cigarette, rubbed his temples with his fingers, and raised an eyebrow.

His dark pupils held a tug-of-war of arrogance, and his disdainful voice betrayed no extra emotion.

"In my eyes, the Qin family are all bad people. They are two-faced and annoying. I don't know if they watch too many palace intrigue shows, they just love to play mind games with people."

"Did they try to outsmart you?" Shu Yi pressed.

Seemingly unwilling to tell Shu Yi about his past troubles, Zhang Youye stopped and flicked the ash from his cigarette at the trash can beside him.

As dusk fell, he lowered his head, his gaze lingering on the long, gray ash.

If only the unbearable past could be easily brushed away like cigarette ash.

A sigh escaped his lips, and suppressing the darkness in his eyes, Zhang Youye changed the subject again.

"My brother is already on his way. Shall we go to the Moonlit Hall and wait for him?"

The past that one doesn't want to talk about may be too embarrassing to mention, and a wise person naturally knows when to stop.

Shu Yi responded.

The two went straight to the Moon-Plundering Hall.

...

Twenty minutes later.

A black luxury sports car slowly pulled up in front of the Shu family's ancestral home. After getting out of the car, I noticed a luxury car on the side.

Following behind Uncle Wei, Zhang Huaiyi asked, "Uncle Wei, has Uncle Renxuan not left yet?"

"No, Master Renxuan is still discussing matters with the old master. Young Master Huaiyi, the second young lady, and Young Master Youye are already waiting for you at the Lueyue Hall," Uncle Wei replied.

After escorting Zhang Huaiyi into the Lueyue Hall, Wei Bo rushed to Shu Qiyi's villa without stopping for a moment.

Watching Wei Bo's figure hurriedly leave, Shu Yi nodded to her future uncle in front of her, then got up from the stone bench and extended her palm to Zhang Huaiyi.

"Hello, I'm Shuyi."

Upon hearing this, before his arms, which were slowly rising from the bottom up, could even grasp the hands of his beautiful sister-in-law, Zhang Huaiyi's hands were suddenly pressed down with great force.

Immediately afterwards, a sinister smile appeared on the lips of the powerful master.

"Just say hello, we're all family, no need to be so polite."

Before Shu Yi could react, Zhang Youye quietly leaned close to Zhang Huaiyi's ear and gave him a fierce warning.

"Take your hand back. How dare you touch my woman?"

This possessive and perverted man.

Cursing inwardly, Zhang Huaiyi shook his hand, which had been pressed so hard, and frowned slightly.

"He's still as strong as an ox."

"Thank you for the compliment." Raising an eyebrow, Zhang Youye pulled Shu Yi to sit on the stone bench.

Seeing Shu Yi's pained expression as she tried to suppress a laugh, Zhang Huaiyi slowly nodded to her.

"I'm sorry to have made my sister-in-law laugh at me."

They're all from the Zhang family after all; they speak in unison, incredibly direct.

Shu Yi poured Zhang Huaiyi a cup of hot tea, gave a soft "hmm," and then turned to ask Zhang Youye.

"Did you tell your brother about us getting our marriage certificate?"

“Yes,” Zhang Youye explained, “I told him during dinner earlier that we didn’t need to hide it from him. That kid is very smart; we might need his help in the future.”

He picked up his teacup, took a small sip, and continued the conversation, saying, "Sister-in-law, you don't need to worry."

“When I went to see my dad this afternoon, he told me that he absolutely had to come and meet you. Even if you want to keep it a secret now, the Zhang family still welcomes you. Unlike those who resort to underhanded tactics.”

These words were to Shu Yi.

This undoubtedly gave her another boost of confidence.

While her grandfather could explain away the fact that she and Zhang Youye had temporarily concealed their marriage registration, Shuyi was still unsure about the Zhang family's version of events.

After all, I had only met the Zhang family patriarch once and had not yet had a deep understanding of him.

However, Grandpa will announce the marriage arrangement in three days, and we can explain it properly to the Zhang family then.

Thinking of this, Shu Yi smiled and thanked them, "Thank you for your understanding."

"Sister-in-law, don't be so polite."

As he finished speaking, Zhang Huaiyi raised his hand to push up his gold-rimmed glasses and chuckled gently.

"Actually, we should thank you for marrying into our family. You know how awful my brother is; besides you, probably no one else would dare to marry him."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Zhang Youye slapped Zhang Huaiyi on the back of the head, his face darkening. "I don't even look at any other woman besides your sister-in-law, okay?"

Too lazy to respond to his slap, Zhang Huaiyi continued to look into Shu Yi's eyes.

"Sister-in-law, don't let his appearance fool you. He has dyed his hair blonde and has a carefree attitude. But my brother is a very loyal person. I'm not saying this to praise him."

The topic seemed to have been opened up in just a few words.

With a glance, Shu Yi gestured for Ting Li to place the dessert from her plate directly on the table. She propped her chin on her hand and glanced at Zhang Youye with interest.
