Even after Shang Ziyan followed Ling Shen into the elevator, she still couldn't believe it.
Ling Shen actually offered to take her shopping for clothes?!
Wow, this is progressing a bit too fast.
Perhaps it was Shang Ziyan's excessive nervousness that Ling Shen noticed, so he asked, "Is there a problem?"
Shang Ziyan shook her head and said, "It's nothing, I just haven't been resting well lately."
Ling Shen gave an "oh" and didn't say anything more.
Shang Ziyan was actually afraid to talk to Ling Shen, but she also remembered that the person she was to replace was a bit of a chatterbox.
Moreover, the person she was to replace was always talking nonsense and had a nagging quality.
Shang Ziyan glanced at Ling Shen cautiously, her heart pounding in her chest, but she remained calm and asked casually, "I heard that you had already completed your credits and didn't need to attend classes at school anymore, so why did you suddenly come back to school?"
Ling Shen looked ahead and said, "There are some things that need to be resolved."
Shang Ziyan said "Oh", and then continued to ask, "I feel that Senior Ling Shen is so amazing. There are some subjects I can't learn. Maybe it's because I didn't receive a good education before. I always feel like I'm far behind everyone else."
Ling Shen said, "Take your time, there's no need to rush."
Just then, the elevator reached one end. The two stepped out of the elevator, and Ling Shen gentlemanly protected the elevator door. Shang Ziyan walked out, and Ling Shen followed behind her.
The two walked side by side. It was seven o'clock in the evening, the sun had already set, and the sky was filled with fiery clouds, which looked extremely beautiful.
Ling Shen's gaze fell on the fiery clouds on the horizon, but Shang Ziyan beside him kept looking at Ling Shen.
Ling Shen's car was parked downstairs. Ling Shen walked over and sat in the driver's seat.
Shang Ziyan felt that since Ling Shen had invited her, it was only right for her to sit in the passenger seat. So she went straight to the passenger door. But as soon as she opened the passenger door, she saw a coat and a box that Ling Shen had placed on the passenger seat.
Shang Ziyan paused, then looked up at Ling Shen.
Ling Shen noticed Shang Ziyan's gaze and said, "Excuse me, I'm not used to other people sitting in the passenger seat. Can you sit in the back?"
It's a bit odd to have a girl sit in the back seat when the front passenger seat is empty.
But the other party is Ling Shen. Shang Ziyan had put in so much effort before but still couldn't get close to him. At this point, how could she possibly still be concerned about whether to sit in the front passenger seat or the back seat?
Shang Ziyan said, "It's alright."
After Shang Ziyan finished speaking, she walked to the back seat, opened the car door, and sat down.
After Shang Ziyan was settled, Ling Shen started the car and drove out of the school.
Shang Ziyan, sitting in the back seat, didn't stay idle either, and continued to ask, "Is Senior Ling Shen usually very busy? Besides attending classes, you also have to study. I'm already a bit overwhelmed just with studying."
Ling Shen kept his eyes on the road ahead, turned the steering wheel to make the car turn, and replied casually, "It's alright."
Ling Shen didn't answer much, but Shang Ziyan kept asking.
Ling Shen didn't seem impatient, but his replies were very brief.
Sometimes they'll just reply with a simple "um," or say something like, "It's alright," or "It's okay."
Shang Ziyan wasn't really going to ask these questions; the organization had already given her some of Ling Shen's personal information.
She's asking these questions in front of Ling Shen now just to establish a persona.
So when Ling Shen didn't answer much, Shang Ziyan pouted and said, "Senior Ling Shen, your answers are all so short. If I didn't know better, I would think you stutter."
Ling Shen was driving carefully when he heard Shang Ziyan say this, and his hands on the steering wheel paused.
However, Ling Shen quickly returned to normal.
Ling Shen didn't answer immediately, but silently started the car and drove forward.
There was no music in the car. Shang Ziyan had been talking the whole time, so it wasn't quiet. Now that Shang Ziyan had finished speaking and Ling Shen wasn't responding, the car became very quiet.
Shang Ziyan had just forced herself to find topics to talk about, and that sentence she said just now was also something she did on purpose.
Because someone in the organization had said that the person she was to replace had asked Ling Shen, "Are you mute?"
Shang Ziyan said that just now, deliberately trying to get involved with that person.
Shang Ziyan knew how important that person was to Ling Shen; otherwise, her organization wouldn't have gone to such lengths to train her to replace that person.
So when Shang Ziyan saw that Ling Shen didn't answer, she wondered if she had touched a nerve with him.
Thinking about this, Shang Ziyan tensed up all over.
Fortunately, not long after, Ling Shen suddenly chuckled and said, "I don't stutter."
Shang Ziyan was stunned for a moment.
Ling Shen continued, "However, you look a lot like someone I know."
Shang Ziyan knew who Ling Shen was talking about, but she pretended not to know and said, "Is it Qian Sui? Some people say that I look a bit like her, but I think it's just that we have the same beauty mark under our eyes."
Ling Shen didn't answer directly, but said, "That was a girl I met when I was about ten years old. She asked me a lot of questions, just like you did earlier. When I didn't answer, she said I was mute."
Shang Ziyan pursed her lips, unsure how to reply.
Just as they reached a red light, Ling Shen stopped the car and looked at the bustling traffic ahead. Pedestrians were passing by on the crosswalk, all sorts of people, each seemingly with their own story.
