Chapter Five: Fortune Telling at a Stall

Qianci made thorough preparations for Qiansui's return. Even when he received the news during a meeting, he immediately canceled the meeting and arranged everything as quickly as possible.

Qian Sui's room is next to Qian Ci's room. That room was prepared a long time ago, just waiting for Qian Sui to come down from the mountain. Now that Qian Sui has returned, the dressing room is filled with the latest seasonal clothes from various brands. Many styles that socialites could only dream of have all been bought by Qian Ci and stuffed into the dressing room, just to win Qian Sui's favor.

Qianci prefers quiet, so there weren't many servants in the villa before. But as soon as Qiansui returned, her assistant personally selected four or five servants and brought them over to take care of Qiansui.

From big matters to small matters, all Chitose had to do was keep breathing.

However, Qian Sui was not used to this lifestyle. She was used to staying in the mountains, running around every day, making fires, cooking, practicing martial arts, and hunting, doing everything herself. Now, being taken care of like a useless person made Qian Sui feel very uncomfortable.

So, after Qian resigned from her job, Qian Sui secretly slipped away.

She suggested going out, but the housekeeper stopped her, saying it was dangerous outside and that a servant had to accompany her. Qian Sui naturally refused, saying she wanted to go back to her room to sleep. After closing the door, she secretly climbed out of the third-floor window.

When she was in the mountains, Chitose had even climbed cliffs to pick herbs. This kind of building was simply not big enough for her to climb.

After she climbed down, she dusted off her hands, tossed her backpack aside, and ran out happily.

Although the Chi family kept sending various things up the mountain to keep her from becoming disconnected from society, the environment was different after all. Once Chitose came out, she was attracted by all sorts of things.

After exploring the park, Chitose was drawn to an old man who told fortunes at a stall.

When it comes to fortune telling, her master, that old man, is second to none.

Although the old man wasn't as skilled as her master, he still had some basic knowledge. Qian Sui bought a lollipop and squatted down next to him, watching for a long time.

The old man also noticed Qian Sui, chuckled, and said, "Young lady, are you interested?"

Chitose frankly stated, "I can do that too."

The old man exclaimed "Oh!" and his eyes lit up immediately. Most children of Qian Sui's age wouldn't believe in such things, let alone know how to do them.

"Little girl, what are your skills?"

Qian Sui smiled sweetly and started bragging.

"Knowing astronomy from above and geography from below."

Upon hearing this, the old man became interested and immediately asked Qian Sui a question: "Let me ask you the simplest one: do you know the origin of our profession?"

Qian Sui cleared his throat and calmly said, "Xuanxue, the word 'xuan' here originates from a sentence in Laozi: 'The mystery within mystery, the gate to all wonders.' Xuanxue was originally a Daoist term, referring to the study and interpretation of Laozi, Zhuangzi, and the Book of Changes, and it arose during the Wei and Jin dynasties. Xuanxue was the mainstream of thought during the Wei and Jin periods, replacing the classical studies of the Han dynasty, and was known as 'the study of the profound and distant.'"

The young lady spoke fluently and incessantly, astonishing the old man. "This young lady is quite something!" he thought.

But after all, he was an old man who had lived to such an old age, and he couldn't lose in terms of momentum. The old man stroked his beard and said again, "Then do you know about the Seven Killings Formation?"

The Seven Killings structure is a rare and uncommon topic. Even some older people might not know about it, let alone someone as old as a thousand.

The old man said this because he wanted to test Chitose.

But Chisui is clearly no ordinary person.

Qian Sui frowned slightly; her master had told her about this, and she remembered it.

“I know that. My master told me about it,” Qian Sui said. “The Seven Killings Pattern is another name for the Partial Officer Pattern, also known as the Partial Officer Seven Killings Pattern. Ancient Han Chinese fortune tellers and astrologists considered it an extremely inauspicious sign. Although the name is ominous, it can be turned into good fortune if controlled and transformed. Those who achieve great success and nobility are mostly associated with the Seven Killings Pattern, because the characteristics of the Seven Killings Pattern are drive, perseverance, ambition, and courage. The Seven Killings Pattern is one of the noble destiny patterns.”

The young lady answered fluently, which astonished the old man. This girl had an extraordinary destiny and remarkable bone structure. Judging from her aura, she must have been guided by a master. It was not something someone like him, with his limited knowledge, could just spout nonsense about.

The old man wanted to say something to Qian Sui, after all, it was rare to meet such a little genius, but suddenly his stomach started to hurt so badly that he wanted to go to the toilet, but he was afraid that someone would take the things from his stall.

He has no income since he's retired, so he relies entirely on this stall to make a little money.

After thinking for a moment, he decided to ask the girl in front of him for help. He said, "Young lady, could you watch over my stall here for a bit? I'll be right back."

The old man was in such a hurry that he ran away before he could finish speaking, never expecting that Qian Sui would take his stall with him.

Chisui sighed, thinking that she still wanted to go eat something, but the old man had already run away.

Chisui stood in front of the stall, staring at the little parrot on it, before finally resignedly sitting down in the spot where the old man had just been sitting.

A young and pretty girl sitting in front of a fortune-telling stall is bound to attract attention.

Some curious people gathered around, wanting to tease the little girl, but no matter what they said, the little girl would decipher them.

Some of the people who had initially gathered around didn't believe in fortune telling and always thought they should believe in science. But after Qian Sui's few words, some of them began to doubt whether what Qian Sui said was true, and one quietly asked, "Girl, what do you think I should do in this situation?"

In just over ten minutes, the once empty money box was now filled with change.

Qian Sui didn't have much of a concept of money, after all, her older brother was never short of money, but this felt like recognition to her, so she became even more enthusiastic and had a great time.

After a long time, the old man still hadn't returned, and the people in front of the stall dispersed. Chisui sat alone in her seat, feeling utterly bored, and could only lower her head to tease the parrot.

Just as they were having a good time, a person walked past the small fortune-telling stall. The finely crafted leather shoes stepped on the ground, and the hem of the austere suit trousers was perfectly straight. The person stood in front of the stall, and the shadow of his body enveloped Qian Sui's entire body.

It felt like the darkness before a storm, creating a very oppressive atmosphere.

Qian Sui frowned slightly and looked up along the hem of her trousers.

His long, straight legs, accentuated by the suit trousers, made him appear even more aloof and handsome. He wore a black shirt, and on his naturally hanging left hand was a black ring of unknown material.

Looking further up, Qian Sui met those cold and stunning faces, and her breath caught in her throat.

Upon seeing Qian Sui's reaction, the man's thin, cool lips twitched slightly, and a ripple appeared in his eyes, which were as cold as the stars in the sky.

The man knelt down on one knee in front of the stall, looking at Qian Sui. He tossed a few coins into the metal box for collecting money, his voice clear and deep: "Kid, can you tell me how it works for me?"
