Qian Sui didn't notice Ling Shen's gaze, or rather, she did notice it but didn't care.
After all, cultivators are not easily distracted by things.
As soon as Qian Sui entered, she saw this so-called master. After taking a few more glances, she noticed something was off. This was no sign of a monk at all; he had a fat head and big ears, and his face was oily. He didn't have the austerity of a monk at all.
Although many monks nowadays have a profession and are paid by the state, so-called masters are certainly not like that.
Over the years, she had followed her master and seen many people like him who pretended to be masters to cheat others out of food, drink, and money. It would have been better if he hadn't said anything, but as soon as he spoke, he tried to undermine her. Qian Sui, with her fiery temper, was not going to tolerate it.
Her master taught her the principle of conduct: If others don't offend me, I won't bother them; if they do offend me, I'll eliminate them completely!
She doesn't want to cause trouble, but she's never afraid of trouble.
She looked directly at the so-called master. Although she was young, when she got serious, she had a more mature demeanor than her peers.
The thousand-year-old's gaze not only startled the master, but also the general manager Zhang who brought the master. He originally wanted to bring the master to make him stronger and help him when necessary, but he didn't expect that he would end up shooting himself in the foot.
Mr. Zhang panicked a little and secretly tugged at the master's sleeve under the table.
The master gave Mr. Zhang a wink, indicating that he felt he could easily handle a little girl like her.
The master looked at the young man and said, "Young benefactor, monks do not lie. Although you are young, it is wrong of you to speak such nonsense."
Qian Sui: "I am young, but I have been studying scriptures for more than ten years. Master, how many have you studied?"
The master said, "The scriptures that need to be recited have all been recited, such as the Thirteen Buddhist Sutras..."
Before the master could finish speaking, the thousand-year-old sneered. Sure enough, these fake masters only knew the thirteen Buddhist scriptures.
Seeing this, the emperor countered with another question: "What are the thirteen Buddhist scriptures?"
The master's expression changed slightly, but he still answered: "The thirteen Buddhist scriptures are: the Heart Sutra, the Diamond Sutra, the Infinite Life Sutra, the Perfect Enlightenment Sutra, the Brahma Net Sutra, the Platform Sutra, the Surangama Sutra, the Saṃdhinirmocana Sutra, the Vimalakirti Sutra, the Lankavatara Sutra, the Golden Light Sutra, the Lotus Sutra, and the Forty-Two Chapters Sutra."
Although he hesitated a bit before answering, he still managed to finish.
Others may not know, but the Emperor recognizes it. These Thirteen Buddhist Sutras are actually a collection compiled by Zhonghua Book Company. The Buddhist community does not have a unified recognition of them because there are many Buddhist sects, and each sect practices different Buddhist scriptures. This collection compiled by Zhonghua Book Company only represents Zhonghua Book Company.
For example, Tibetan Buddhists would not approve of it, nor would Theravada Buddhists.
However, since it is recognized by Zhonghua Book Company, its dissemination is relatively wide.
This fake master only accepted the most widely circulated version.
Qian Sui remained calm and continued to ask, "The Heart Sutra is also known as the Mahaprajnaparamita Heart Sutra. There is a line in the Heart Sutra that says, 'When Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva was practicing the profound Prajnaparamita, he perceived that the five aggregates are empty, and thus transcended all suffering.' Master, what do the five aggregates refer to here?"
Upon hearing this, the master broke out in a cold sweat: "This..."
Even Grandpa Mo was wondering what the Five Aggregates were. Although he had carefully studied the scriptures, he couldn't remember them when asked this question.
Qian Sui smiled, revealing the playfulness that came with her age. She said, "The 'skandha' in the Five Aggregates is a transliteration of the Sanskrit word, meaning accumulation or combination. The Five Aggregates refer to the five aggregates: form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. Except for form, which is a material phenomenon, the other four aggregates are mental phenomena within the Five Aggregates. The Five Aggregates are actually a Buddhist theory about the elements that constitute the human body and its physical and mental phenomena."
Grandpa Mo was also surprised by the young master's knowledge of Buddhism, which he answered so casually.
This girl is truly extraordinary.
The master started to get frustrated. He was a fake, relying on pretending to be a Buddhist to cheat people out of food, drink, and money. Although he had studied a lot about Buddhism, he could only fool those who didn't know anything. Now that he had met someone who truly understood, he was at a loss.
Seeing that the master remained silent, the thousand-year-old continued, "The five precepts of a monk are: 1. The precept against killing: If a person unjustly kills or takes the life of any living being, he will fall into a lower realm after death; or if reborn as a human, he will have a short lifespan. Not doing this is called the precept against killing. 2. The precept against stealing: If a person steals property that belongs to someone else without permission, he will fall into a lower realm after death; or if reborn as a human, he will suffer poverty. Not doing this is called the precept against stealing. 3. The precept against sexual misconduct: If a person is unrestrained in sexual activity and frequently commits adultery with other men's wives or concubines, he will fall into a lower realm after death; or if reborn as a human, his wives or concubines will be unfaithful. Not doing this is called the precept against sexual misconduct."
Fourth, the precept against lying: If a person fabricates falsehoods, conceals the truth, and deceives others, they will be reborn into evil realms after death; or if reborn as a human, they will have foul breath and be hated by others. Not doing such things is called the precept against lying. Fifth, the precept against drinking alcohol: If a person drinks alcohol, they will become unrestrained, reckless, confused, foolish, and lacking in wisdom. Not drinking alcohol is called the precept against drinking alcohol. Which one have you fulfilled?
After Qian Sui finished speaking, the master became somewhat embarrassed and angry. In the eyes of the master, Qian Sui's behavior was truly despicable because he had been exposed and had ruined the other party's meal.
Unable to contain himself, the master stood up angrily, grabbed his fork, and charged toward the young master.
Grandpa Mo was shocked. Was this argument not going well, and now they were even trying to hit someone?
Despite the imposing presence of the master, Qian Sui remained calm and composed, sitting peacefully in his seat.
How could she possibly be afraid of such a person? She even felt a bit disdainful.
But before that person could even reach Qian Sui, he was subdued by Lu Jiayan, who remained silent.
He tripped the master with his foot, then subdued him with a grappling move. Old Master Mo's bodyguards also rushed over and threw the cursing master outside.
Throughout this process, Ling Shen remained calm and composed. He looked at Qian Sui and asked with a smile, "Were you frightened?"
Qian Sui shook her head, thinking to herself: What kind of creatures are these that can scare her? When she was on the mountain, she faced wild wolves face to face without being afraid.
Just now, Qian Sui thought that her young age made everyone doubt her, but her actions just now made everyone look at her with new eyes.
Ling Shen thought that he had just picked up a little girl in the park and assumed she was just a fortune teller with some knowledge of metaphysics, but he never expected her to be so unexpected.
Ling Shen was quite satisfied. After all, although he liked gentle girls, he didn't really like useless girls.
A girl who is both cute and capable like this is the kind of girl who would impress him.
