Chapter 3 I want to touch his hand

Yingyue grasped his thin hands with both of hers.

I gently pinched it with my thumb.

The unusual touch sent a shiver down Huo Cheng's spine.

Yingyue, oblivious to everything, repeatedly kneaded Huo Cheng's hands.

Huo Cheng coughed…

"Comrade..."

"Yingyue, that's my name!"

Yingyue announced her name aloud, and before Huo Cheng could answer, she asked another question.

"After I catch the human traffickers, can I come to see you?"

Huo Cheng looked at the girl in front of him; he should have refused.

But inexplicably, he nodded.

After leaving the police station, he watched as the officers, led by Yingyue, slowly disappeared from his sight.

He only looked away when he could no longer see them at all.

"Brother, brother, you really are here!"

Huo Yan's voice came from the side, "Where is that strange nun?"

Huo Cheng glanced at Huo Yan with indifferent eyes.

His expression returned to its usual cold and somber tone.

"Huo Yan, you are so rude."

"Uh..." Huo Yan was a little embarrassed.

He scratched his head.

"Brother, have you forgotten that today is Grandma's birthday? Everyone is waiting for you to come back and start the meal."

"There's someone else you'd never expect waiting for you!"

Huo Yan's voice carried a hint of laughter.

Huo Cheng chuckled, turned his wheelchair, and slowly walked towards the village.

The wheelchair accidentally ran over a pebble.

"elder brother!"

Huo Yan was extremely nervous, gripping the wheelchair tightly with both hands.

The wheelchair, which should have tilted to the side, remained surprisingly stable.

It rolled directly over the stones and moved forward smoothly.

Huo Yan?

Is the wheelchair so stable now?

………

The Liu family is a large family in Peach Blossom Village. Old Mrs. Liu has four sons and three daughters, and each of her children is very successful.

Among this group of children, the most promising was the second daughter.

Not only did she work as a doctor in a major city hospital, but she also married a high-ranking official and had two sons and a daughter.

Although my eldest son came home to recuperate from a leg injury last year, he was still a military officer before the injury.

My youngest son was recommended to attend the Workers-Peasants-Soldiers University at the beginning of the year, and my daughter is also studying at a health school and will soon be assigned to work in a hospital.

If the eldest brother's leg can recover, then life will be perfect.

The Liu family home was bustling with activity at that moment.

Although we can't have a big celebration for Grandma Liu's birthday, it's perfectly acceptable for the family to have a meal together.

Besides the Liu family members, there was also Shen Hui from the neighboring Shen family, along with her mother.

On such a joyous occasion for the Liu family, the appearance of a young woman in their home speaks volumes.

Liu Chunhua, the eldest daughter of the Liu family, smiled and said to her second daughter, Liu Qiuyue, "Second daughter, is your eldest son's good news coming soon?"

Liu Qiuyue was extremely worried.

Hearing her older sister's teasing, she quickly said, "Big sister, don't talk nonsense."

"You know Ah Cheng's temper; he hates it when others interfere in his affairs."

"No, how can this be called interference?"

Liu Chunhua's face showed disapproval. "Qiuyue, you're Huo Cheng's biological mother. Whose son is twenty-eight years old and still not dating or getting married?"

"If you ask me, you've spoiled him too much. You should have married him while he was still in the army. By then, it would have been a done deal, and he wouldn't have been able to argue with you."

Liu Chunhua shared her experience in managing children with her second sister.

Liu Qiuyue sighed.

"Big sister..."

Liu Chunhua didn't have time to listen at all; she smiled and waved to Shen Hui beside her.

"Shen Hui, come here to your aunt."

Everyone in the family knew that Shen Hui had come for Huo Cheng.

Liu Chunhua, who seemed to be happy to see this happen, couldn't wait to get Shen Hui to change her mind even before Huo Cheng nodded or anything was even confirmed.

Upon hearing Liu Chunhua's call, Shen Hui glanced around shyly before blushing and walking over hesitantly.

"Auntie... Qiuyue... Auntie..."

"Oh dear, why are you calling me 'Auntie'? Once Ah Cheng comes back and things are settled, you'll have to start calling me 'Mom'!"

"Big sister!"

Liu Qiuyue really wanted to turn against him.

If it weren't for the fact that it was the old lady's birthday today, she would have given her eldest sister a good talking-to.

How can you be so clueless?

"Xiao Hui, don't listen to your Aunt Chunhua's nonsense."

Liu Qiuyue turned to Shen Hui and said, "I am very grateful that you don't mind that my eldest son can't walk."

"But when it comes to marriage, both parties still need to be compatible."

“Acheng is grown up and has the right to make his own choices.”

Their parenting style is definitely not like what the eldest sister said, where the parents do everything for their children.

Shen Hui listened to Liu Qiuyue's words with her head hanging low.

Her face turned red to the roots of her neck, and her hands were clenched tightly together.

"I...I know..."

"I'm talking about Qiuyue..."

Liu Chunhua interjected again, "Why are you saying this? If Huo Cheng hadn't been injured before, it would have been understandable that you said this."

"His legs are in such a state now, and a girl as good as Shen Hui is willing to marry him without minding his condition. Aren't you going to take the initiative?"

"Do you really want Huo Cheng to remain a bachelor for life, and never be able to hold your grandson?"

"Whether my mother can hold her grandson or not is none of my concern, Auntie."

A cold tone interrupted.

It doesn't carry much temperature.

The people who were speaking paused, then turned to look at the doorway.

Before anyone knew it, Huo Yan had already pushed Huo Cheng to the door.
