Chapter 38 Garcia's Personal Story
Garcia is a venomous snake that never utters a word.
This is the common perception of the few remaining second-generation military officers in the Imperial Army who are now doing nothing but living off the land, because of their fear of him, and not just because of his thin and mean appearance.
In fact, Garcia's popularity in the military was definitely not bad.
In the entire military camp, among a group of aristocratic children who were extravagant, lustful, absurd, greedy and perverted, Garcia's performance up to now could almost be described as a normal good person.
Even the poor militia loved to interact with him, after all, he was neither keen on beating nor killing people. He had held a position that was neither high nor low in the military camp for many years, and this position could neither make him powerful nor accumulate wealth. In the eyes of the empty-headed nobles, he was just an ordinary, no different, or even worse than them, a timid fellow, not that great. After all, you see, he could be kind to the common people. How could such a person be considered a noble?
They have always believed this in the past.
But one day everything changed.
It seemed as if they were sitting in the same room, saying the same words, doing the same things not long ago.
But in just a few months, the status and gap between them underwent a seismic change.
Now, let alone being on equal footing with Garcia, even their fathers would be submissive and obedient to him when they saw him, for fear that if they displeased him today, the only child of the family would appear on the battlefield as cannon fodder tomorrow.
Prostrate himself on the cold ground of the palace, the skinny man waited tremblingly for the noble figure to pass by him, as if he were passing by a weed growing out of a brick crack.
Tick, tick, tick.
But today the pair of black boots did not ignore him as usual, but stopped in front of him and did not move away.
The man lying on the ground didn't understand what was going on, but he didn't dare to raise his head. He just stared humbly at the weed in the crack of the brick.
At this moment, a cold voice cut across the man's eardrums. The owner of the black boots said, "Dit?"
Hearing his name being read out from his mouth, Dieter was stunned for two moments, and then his body began to tremble uncontrollably, and he slowly raised his head.
He hunched his body and stretched his neck as far back as possible so that he could look the man in front of him in the eye.
The cold sunlight shone through the murderous building and made Dieter shudder.
He raised his head hastily and glanced at Garcia, his face filled with fear.
Garcia curled the corners of his mouth slightly.
Looking at this acquaintance who was as useless in the past as he is now, and remembering the "great help" that Dieter had once given him, Garcia could not help but smile. The smile flashed across his eyes and then hung at the corners of his mouth.
He turned around with a smile and looked at the middle-aged man who was waiting in awe, and said, "Duke Xi's son is well raised."
After saying this, he no longer looked at the father and son, whose expressions as if the sky had fallen, and walked past them happily and left the palace.
The sky was a pale white, just like most people in the capital, except for Garcia.
Garcia was born in the capital, but his aristocratic father was ordinary and had made no profit after years of business, and his mother also had only ordinary wealth, which obviously could not create another way to package him into a star in the capital.
But he was born with an extraordinary ambition in such a family. This was first seen in his teenage years, when his father witnessed everything he did, but did not say much, just gently closed the window that allowed him to peek, and his mother also knew his nature, but she still treated him coldly and ignored him.
Entering the military academy to learn gold is a path that many noble children will take, but few of them have the courage to actually go to the battlefield. Garcia actually doesn't like going to the battlefield, but he knows that this is his only way to achieve the supreme position.
He had just joined the army and had to maneuver between forces to get that position which was neither big nor small. However, those guys who really controlled the lifeline of the army were much more troublesome than those empty-headed idiots. Fortunately, he could still cope with it.
The rule of the empire had long been unstable, but he only had a vague feeling. His position did not allow him to see the situation of the entire empire clearly, until the outbreak of the uprising swept across the entire empire in an instant, until that mysterious guy was parachuted in to become the commander of the capital army, he had a mysterious feeling that his chance had finally come.
That strange guy suddenly appeared in the military academy, out of place like a light bulb in the darkness. But none of those good-for-nothings noticed anything wrong. Well, Garcia decided at the time that this was a merit destined for him.
However, the new leader appeared. He didn't know why the guy suddenly appeared in a place where the nobles gathered. It was so sudden.
That is to say, this clumsy guy ruined his plan, but it didn't matter. Garcia was well versed in the art of hunting and knew very well that the greater the success he wanted to achieve and the more beautiful the prey he caught, the greater the price he had to pay and the longer he had to lie dormant. He was not in a hurry, but his prey was much more anxious than he was.
However, in the end he still failed to catch the prey.
Maybe he failed, but to be precise, he just gave up. He gave up a beautiful prey, not because he encountered great difficulties, but because he saw a more beautiful and attractive prey.
The characteristic of a superior is that he is always greedy, and he is no exception. Even if the prey in his eyes is actually much bigger and stronger than him, his ambition has expanded to such an extent, and he is not afraid of choking to death because he cannot eat it in one bite.
But Garcia is clearly not afraid. His ambitions are boundless and his plans are bold and crazy.
-
Yan Bei seems to be a very powerful guy in Garcia's eyes. He is a weapon carefully crafted by the emperor, born for the battlefield. He is powerful but has an empty head. This does not mean that he is stupid, but that his mind is blank. Every idea in his head is infused by others, and everything he does is always for himself.
It's so pitiful that he is being manipulated by others.
"Commander?"
As soon as the door opened, Lance saw a new wound on Yan Bei's body. He immediately threw away the things in his hands and rushed over without caring.
The silver-haired man standing at the door had a dazed expression. He tilted his head slightly because of Lance's words, but his eyes were empty. He just looked at him without any reaction.
The once beautiful, flawless, and statue-like face was no longer there, and the porcelain-like skin was covered with wounds of varying sizes.
Ignoring Yan Bei's stunned reaction, Lance led him into the repair warehouse as he had done every time before.
