Chapter 57 Humanoid Weapon 22
"General."
"What's the matter?" Shajia raised his head from the documents piled up to the ceiling and asked the adjutant who came in through the door.
"My subordinates just reported something to me. They just found a strange laboratory. Because the things inside were too special, they didn't know how to deal with it, so they had to report to me and seek instructions."
"What is the laboratory used for?" Sha Jia asked casually, rubbing his forehead. Many post-war reconstruction tasks were important and tedious, and he hadn't had a good night's sleep for half a month.
"It's very special..." The adjutant hesitated, "I don't know how to put it, so I'd better ask you to go and see it yourself."
Shajia didn't ask any more questions, he stood up and went over with his adjutant.
-
"Dr. Kil." As soon as he arrived at the laboratory, Shaka saw from a distance a man wearing black-framed glasses and a white coat standing there recording something.
Hearing his voice, the man looked up and nodded at him.
Kiel was the homeless man who escaped from the Southern Laboratory. The item he provided helped Shaka win the battle against the Imperial Army.
Shajia walked over happily, and at the same time did not forget to introduce him to his adjutant who was meeting him for the first time, "Kirk, this is Dr. Kiel. The weapon that was used to defeat the alien army on the battlefield was also helped by Dr. Kiel."
"I've heard a lot about you, Doctor. I'm Cork, the aide-de-camp to General Shaka." Cork walked up enthusiastically and extended his hand, but the man just stared at him blankly, with no intention of returning the hand.
Kirk didn't feel embarrassed when he didn't get a response. He withdrew his hand smoothly and looked at the strange man inconspicuously.
This man had a gentle face but a very cold expression. His beard and hair seemed to have been trimmed recently, and his uniform seemed to be new but already stained. He looked like he had just left the factory.
Kirk stopped to look and was about to ask something.
At this time, a sound of footsteps came from the darkness ahead. Everyone looked up and saw Garcia, who was wearing a uniform, coming out. He looked very happy when he saw Shaka, "Hey, General, you're here really fast."
"Why are you here? What are you doing here?" Shajia was not very happy to see him. Ever since he knew that Garcia had intentionally concealed information about Yanbei, he had become wary of this guy.
"Me?" Garcia came over and said, "Of course it's because the doctor and I were the first to discover this place and then we informed the general. But the general should go down and take a look first. You should be more interested in that."
He looked extremely confident, probably because he had already seen what was going on.
Without saying anything more, the group walked in the direction he came from.
It was unknown how long this laboratory had been abandoned. All the equipment had long been damaged, and the ground was covered with a thick layer of dust. When several people walked, messy footprints were left everywhere.
Relying on the not-so-bright light, Shajia walked down the long passage, observing the surrounding environment along the way.
The things in this underground building are not simple, but they look a bit outdated. They are different from the various laboratories that Shajia has inspected before. You know, in the past hundred years, the empire has made no progress but regressed in other aspects except biological transformation technology.
This laboratory seemed to be separated from the outside world by some strange barrier. Shajia didn't know much about it. Suddenly, a voice sounded in his ears.
"This place was abandoned at least fifty years ago."
He turned around and saw that it was Kil who suddenly spoke. His words immediately pointed out the doubts in Shajia's heart. He wanted to ask something else, but Kil spoke first after looking at Shajia, "Let's go down first."
After walking through a long corridor, behind an open door lies an extremely spacious warehouse.
There are dim green light poles on the top of the warehouse, and in the dim environment, you can vaguely see rows of neat cylinders on both sides of the aisle.
A vague human figure could be seen in the cylinder. Staring at the darkness in front of him, Shajia's heart suddenly began to beat violently. He walked in subconsciously. The next moment, the lighting in the entire warehouse was activated in an instant.
A white light suddenly exploded in front of Shajia's eyes. He closed his eyes abruptly. After his eyes slowly adjusted, he opened them again. However, the scene in the warehouse made him shudder.
Countless silver-white figures in countless cylinders were standing in front of him, and each figure was looking at him with exactly the same line of sight. And there were so many figures like this in the huge warehouse that Shaka could not see the end of them.
"What on earth is this?" He heard Kirk's surprised voice behind him. Shajia wanted to ask, but under the gaze of so many Yanbeis, the blood in his body seemed to freeze and he couldn't even open his mouth.
After a long while, he finally shook off his fear and immediately turned to look at Garcia and the other man, questioning with a forced calmness in his voice, "What on earth is this?"
Garcia looked at him, then shrugged his shoulders and took a step back, indicating that he was also confused.
Kiel then explained to him, "It's a clone."
"When was it?"
"It's been around for a long, long time. At least half a century."
"How is that possible? He looks so young." Sha Jia retorted subconsciously. In his opinion, Yan Bei was only about twenty years old, but Kil had just told him that this laboratory had been sealed for more than fifty years.
Gil stared at him without blinking. "Do you really still think he is just an ordinary person?"
Sha Jia was speechless for a moment. He could not deny what Jier said. When he thought about it carefully, he had not changed at all since the first time he met Yan Bei ten years ago. He was definitely not an ordinary person. What else could he be?
Garcia suddenly asked, "Dr. Kiel knows right? About his background."
Keel nodded, "Yes, I know him well."
He raised his head and slowly scanned the countless Yan Beis inside, and slowly spoke, "Half of all his experiments were completed by me."
Memories of the past slowly emerged in Keel's mind.
From the moment he first came into contact with the boy, he sensed that he was special and different from other experimental subjects.
They don't cry or make a fuss, and they don't resist any experiments on their bodies, allowing themselves to be manipulated.
Like his brother Keiya, Kiel also served under that Majesty.
He only treated the boy as an ordinary experimental subject, but once the laboratory was accidentally attacked by foreign enemies, the core energy was destroyed, and all kinds of aggressive experimental subjects ran out one after another. The laboratory was in chaos, with colleagues fleeing everywhere to avoid their lives and the experimental subjects chasing them everywhere.
Kiel realized the danger too late and had already missed the best time to leave. When he tried to escape, the roads were blocked by flames.
When he was at a loss and didn't know who to contact for help, the boy suddenly appeared from behind him, grabbed him and took him away.
Yan Bei brought him to a safe place, and the two of them hid there until the rebellion outside was quelled by the army and the fire did not burn in.
Kil, who survived the disaster, breathed a sigh of relief. He sat on the ground, feeling a sharp pain in the injured left leg. He looked around and found that there were no usable medicines in the place where he was hiding. When he was about to tear off his coat to give himself an emergency bandage, Yan Bei suddenly held his hand. A warm feeling came from the place where he touched, and soon, the injured parts of his body recovered.
Seeing this, Kil looked at Yan Bei in astonishment. The silver-white boy let go of his hand expressionlessly, with no emotion in his eyes, as if he didn't regard him as an experimenter, but just a passerby.
But this was not the reason that surprised him the most. As an experimenter, he had always known that the experimental subject Yan Bei's recovery ability was different from that of ordinary people, but this was the first time he knew that his ability could work on other people.
Does he know what exposing this ability will lead to?
But Yan Bei obviously didn't care. He sat against the wall, his body relaxed, and seemed to be enjoying this rare moment of freedom.
The two stayed in the room in silence until the army came to suppress the rebellion.
Kil was taken away to check if he was injured, while Yan Bei was put back into the experimental subject cage. Before leaving, Kil took a last look at him. Yan Bei lowered his head and turned his back to him, and was taken away by the soldiers without any resistance.
As gentle as cattle and sheep, yet as compassionate as gods and Buddhas.
After sighing silently in his heart, Kiel spoke.
"As for the background you want to know, I don't actually have any evidence. It's just rumors that have existed in the laboratory."
That was more than a hundred years ago, when a general respected by everyone brought back a man from the pole of the world.
After driving away all the aliens, the general who led mankind to victory came to the edge of the world, where he found a boundless, vast, luxuriant and brilliant tree, under which a pure white boy was sleeping. He brought the boy back to the empire, and then he began to act like a madman, and after ascending the throne despite everyone's obstruction, he began to do everything he could to wake up the boy at all costs.
"Could that young man be Yan Bei?" Cork asked.
"Yes, he is the Yan Bei you saw. You may not know that the ruler of this empire has always been an emperor since more than a hundred years ago."
"It's always the same person - how can a person live so long?"
"Yes, he should have died a long time ago, and his body was completely decayed and looked nothing like a normal person, but he was still alive. He just didn't need to eat anymore, and he didn't have any excretion, but he wasn't dead either."
"This is no longer a human being." Kirk shouted in astonishment. What he saw today was beyond his understanding.
"It's a bit like the living dead." Garcia remained in deep thought, then suddenly began to explain.
"The living dead?"
"Yes, a creature that appears in very old games. Legend has it that they died long ago, but because of a special virus, they can still walk like normal people."
