Chapter 18 Insolence

"What's all this noise about!"

Jiang Mubai frowned, his eyes filled with displeasure, after being interrupted.

"My lord, I just received news that Zuixianju has been shut down by the Dali Temple for some unknown reason, and Wang Bao, the young master, has been arrested. Now, the young master's mother is outside the mansion demanding to see the old lady. What do you think we should do?"

The butler looked troubled. Madam Wang was his own madam's sister, and given that status, he dared not be negligent. He could only report the idea to Jiang Mubai for a decision.

Jiang Mubai was shocked to hear that Zuixianju had been shut down by the Dali Temple.

What did Wang Bao do to attract the attention of the Dali Temple?

“My mother is still unconscious, so it is inconvenient for her to meet me.” Jiang Mubai pondered for a moment and said to the steward, “Then bring her here, and I will question her myself.”

He hasn't been in Beijing for the past two years and doesn't know much about some things, so he's taking this opportunity to ask him clearly.

The steward, having received orders, quickly brought Old Madam Wang before Jiang Mubai.

When Madam Wang saw Jiang Mubai, she burst into tears.

"Mu Bai, Leopard has always been an honest man. He must have made some enemies by being captured by the Dali Temple. You must find a way to save your cousin."

When Madam Wang learned that Madam Jiang had fallen into a coma, she was initially worried, and then placed her hopes for rescuing Wang Bao on Jiang Mubai.

Jiang Mubai couldn't refuse when he heard this, since they were his mother's family, and he had to take care of them to some extent.

"Don't worry, Aunt. I will go to the Dali Temple to find out what happened and I will definitely bring Wang Bao back."

With Jiang Mubai's assurance, Madam Wang immediately smiled.

"Mu Bai, you are so accomplished at such a young age, unlike my Leopard who was framed for no reason." Old Madam Wang sighed and then showered Jiang Mu Bai with concern.

"I'm entrusting the matter of the leopard to you."

After talking for a while, Old Madam Wang finally left. Su Xuerou, who had been silent the whole time, spoke up, "Brother Mu Bai, don't you think this is a bit strange?"

"Strange?" Jiang Mubai hesitated.

"Xue Rou, have you discovered something?"

"Brother Mu Bai, I heard that Zui Xian Ju is my sister's property, but she has disappeared these past few days. Do you think the trouble at Zui Xian Ju might be because my sister is dissatisfied and that's why she made a fuss?"

Jiang Mubai clenched his fist and said angrily, "If that's really the case, I will never forgive that poisonous woman, Ye Jintang."

Su Xuerou curled her lips smugly and continued to Jiang Mubai, "My lord, I would like to go to the temple outside the city tomorrow to pray for the old lady, hoping that she can wake up soon."

Seeing this, Jiang Mubai felt even more pity for Su Xuerou.

Thinking back to Ye Jintang's rude behavior when he met her that day, Jiang Mubai quickly made a comparison.

If that vicious woman Ye Jintang had even a fraction of Xue Rou's filial piety, things wouldn't have turned out this way.

Inside the pharmacy.

Ye Jintang was sitting at his desk looking at the account book that Zhou Zheng had brought.

With the silver previously given, the shop's losses have been covered, but it will still need a period of rectification before it can reopen, which will inevitably take some effort.

Fortunately, Zhou Zheng handled these trivial details very well.

"Madam, these are the three doctors I have selected over the past few days."

Zhou Zheng brought the three of them to Ye Jintang.

Ye Jintang glanced at them; the three men appeared to be in their early thirties.

She examined the three individuals from the perspectives of pharmacology, medical skills, and the acupuncture points used in their practice.

At first, the three were somewhat shocked to see that the shop owner was not Zhou Zheng but a woman.

However, when Yip Kam-tong raised these questions, the three men's opinions changed again.

How could someone who could ask such questions be an ordinary woman?

After observing them for an hour, Ye Jintang had a general understanding of their abilities.

"Zhou Zheng, you should let them go back first."

Ye Jintang said to Zhou Zheng, who was standing to the side.

Upon hearing this, the three men preemptively asked, "Madam, we didn't answer your questions incorrectly, so why are you asking us to go back?"

"For no reason."

Ye Jintang replied calmly, "Since you came after seeing the notice, I also have the right to refuse you."

"Hmph! I originally thought I'd give it a try because your shop was short of staff, but I never expected you to be so blind."

"A perfectly good woman like her doesn't know how to stay at home and take care of her husband and children, but insists on showing her face in public. She'd rather not stay in a place like this!"

The man standing in the middle was slightly taller, with a noticeable black mole on his neck. His face gave him a mean and selfish appearance.

As the tall man finished venting his anger and turned to leave, Ye Jintang narrowed her eyes. With a bang, the man tripped over the threshold and stumbled.

The other two rushed forward to help, but found that the person seemed to be stuck to the ground and they couldn't lift him up no matter what they did.

Ye Jintang approached and looked down at the person lying on the ground.

"Do you dare repeat what you just said?"

The man on the ground, seeing Ye Jintang's appearance, was filled with shame and indignation. "Fine, say what you will, a woman should be a wife and mother. Who..."

Before the man could finish speaking, the sound of barking came from not far away.

A large wolfhound came running towards them.

The other two people who wanted to help the tall man up quickly dodged to the side when they saw the large wolfhound appear.

Such a big wolfhound, I wonder how much suffering one would endure if bitten.

Seeing that the two people around him had run away, leaving only the one who had fallen to the ground and couldn't get up, the tall man was dumbfounded.

Woof woof woof.

[Woman, has this guy been too respectful to you? Should I teach him a lesson for you?]

The large wolfhound barked a few times, then stopped and bared its fangs at the man on the ground.

The tall man was trembling with fear. He tried to get up but couldn't muster any strength. His voice was trembling with sobs.

The large wolfhound's jaws looked like they could swallow him whole.

Zhou Zheng was also somewhat shocked to see the large wolfhound that suddenly appeared. Seeing Ye Jintang standing there with a calm expression, he could roughly guess that the large wolfhound was probably sent by Madam.

However, the man's words and actions were indeed hateful, and it would be good if this big wolfhound could teach him a lesson.

"Or would you like to repeat what you just said?"

Ye Jintang looked at the person on the ground and said again.

"Madam, I was wrong. Please don't let this big wolfhound come near again."

The tall man cried out.

"If it's wrong, what should be done?"

"I apologize; I spoke rudely."

As the large wolfhound drew closer, the tall man wished he could faint on the spot, but apart from feeling weak, he was full of energy.

After the apology, the man suddenly felt some strength returning to his body and hurriedly got up from the ground.

The large wolfhound didn't approach any further, but just barked at him a few times.

The tall man quickened his pace and left, then turned and ran after hearing the shout.
