Chapter 68 The Question Has Arrived

"willing!"

Having received Jiang Mubai's agreement, Su Xuerou spoke almost impatiently.

As soon as she finished speaking, Su Xuerou worried that Jiang Mubai might find out something, and said with concern, "Brother Mubai, my sister has always been in charge of the affairs of the manor. If she finds out, will she be dissatisfied?"

Upon hearing Ye Jintang's name, Jiang Mubai snorted coldly, "What do I care about her? This Marquis's mansion belongs to me, and it's not up to a woman like her to make decisions."

"Xue Rou, you can rest assured to manage the affairs of the manor. If Ye Jintang dares to make things difficult for you, I will definitely stand up for you."

Su Xuerou was overjoyed to hear this.

"Thank you, Brother Mu Bai."

After leaving Jiang Mubai's place, Su Xuerou returned to the courtyard with a smile on her face.

"Second Madam, is there some good news?"

Cui'er, the maid who was following Su Xuerou, asked.

Su Xuerou glanced at Cui'er, then said, "The Marquis has already agreed to hand over the power to manage the Marquis's mansion to me."

"Then congratulations to the Second Madam. In this way, even if you are the mistress, you will no longer be able to act as before."

Su Xuerou thought of all that Ye Jintang had done, and resentment appeared in her eyes.

She wanted to see how a powerless matriarch could continue to be arrogant.

"Go and keep an eye on what's happening in Ye Jintang's courtyard. Report to me as soon as she returns."

Su Xuerou gave the order, as she was eager to let Ye Jintang know this.

The fact that the housekeeper's power has been taken away is something that would be unacceptable to anyone.

Since Ye Jintang was unwilling to divorce, she would let this bitch live in despair every day and see what Ye Jintang would have to fight her with.

To Su Xuerou's surprise, Ye Jintang did not return until dark.

What shocked her even more was Ye Jintang's audacity. At daybreak, Su Xuerou went to Old Madam Jiang's courtyard and told her about it.

"Xue Rou, is what you just said true?"

When Madam Jiang heard what Su Xuerou said, her eyes were filled with surprise.

“Mother-in-law, if you don’t believe me, you can go to my sister’s yard right now and see for yourself.”

"My sister is, after all, the mistress of the household; such behavior of not returning home at night is simply unacceptable..."

Before Su Xuerou could finish speaking, she was interrupted by Old Madam Jiang's angry shout.

"I haven't settled accounts with the Ye family for the rouge shop incident yet. If she dares to stay out all night, I will never let her off the hook!"

After saying that, Madam Jiang got up and went to Ye Jintang's courtyard.

This scene was exactly what Su Xuerou wanted. Given Old Madam Jiang's personality, seeing that Ye Jintang was not there meant there would be a good show to watch.

To Su Xuerou's surprise, when she and Old Madam Jiang arrived at the courtyard, they found Green Lotus already standing there.

Su Xuerou's heart skipped a beat when she saw Lühe. Why was Ye Jintang's maid here? Could it be...?

"Madam, what brings you here so early in the morning?"

Seeing that besides Su Xuerou, Old Madam Jiang was also accompanied by two nannies, it was clear that they had come to interrogate her, and Green Lotus was secretly amazed.

As expected of my young mistress, she had anticipated that Su Xuerou would cause trouble under some pretext, and an hour ago she brought her back to the Marquis's mansion from the backyard.

Old Madam Jiang's face was gloomy. When she saw Green Lotus, she was somewhat surprised. Wasn't it said that Madam Ye was not in the mansion? How come her maid was here?

Despite her doubts, Old Madam Jiang raised her voice, her tone filled with displeasure, "Go and call your master out!"

"Madam, the lady is still resting..."

"How dare you! You dare to disobey the old lady's words!"

While scolding her, Su Xuerou said to Old Madam Jiang, "Mother-in-law, I think my sister is probably not in the courtyard, so I sent this maid here to stall for time."

After hearing Su Xuerou's words, Madam Jiang became even angrier.

"Get out of the way, I want to go in and see for myself!"

Green Lotus looked troubled. "Madam, is Madam really resting right now..."

Su Xuerou quickly gave a wink to the two nannies she had brought with her.

"What are you waiting for? Subdue her!"

Just as the nanny was about to step forward, she heard Ye Jintang's voice coming from inside the room.

"Green Lotus, there's no need to stop us."

After that sound, Ye Jintang appeared in front of them.

The moment Su Xuerou saw Ye Jintang appear, she froze, her eyes filled with disbelief.

The messenger said Ye Jintang wasn't in the courtyard, so what's going on now?

Ignoring the shock in Su Xuerou's eyes, Ye Jintang approached Old Madam Jiang and asked, "Mother-in-law, is there something important that you've come here so early in the morning?"

"Mr. Ye, why haven't I seen you these past two days? Or have you really been staying out all night?"

Madam Jiang did not show any kindness to Ye Jintang's appearance; instead, she questioned Ye Jintang in an even sterner tone.

"What aspect is your mother-in-law referring to when she says 'disappeared without a trace'?"

Ye Jintang remained calm, showing no emotional fluctuation despite Old Madam Jiang's questioning.

"As for not returning home at night, if that were truly the case, why would I be here?"

After saying that, Ye Jintang glanced in Su Xuerou's direction and said meaningfully, "Mother-in-law, don't be instigated by some people with ulterior motives."

Su Xuerou trembled with anger at Ye Jintang's words. How could she not realize that Ye Jintang was deliberately targeting her in front of so many people?

But since Ye Jintang is here now, that's a fact, so she can only try to hurt Ye Jintang from other angles.

"Sister, you misunderstand. Mother-in-law is just worried about you. After all, she hasn't seen you greet her since she regained consciousness. She was worried, so she came to check on you."

Speaking of this, Su Xuerou felt strange. Logically, as the mistress of the house, Ye Jintang should be paying her respects to Old Madam Jiang before dawn every day, just like herself.

But each time she was alone, and Ye Jintang was nowhere to be seen.

Ye Jintang scoffed, "Is that really so? But I clearly remember my mother-in-law saying before that I didn't need to go and pay my respects, and quite a few people heard that."

"Or is it about my mother-in-law..."

"Enough!"

Seeing that Ye Jintang was about to continue speaking, Old Madam Jiang said angrily.

"Ye family, putting everything else aside, I want to ask you what's going on with the rouge shop!"

Since Ye Jintang came out of the house and not from somewhere else, Old Madam Jiang couldn't say anything more.

However, regarding the rouge shop, although the land deed was given by Mu Bai, the fact that Ye Jintang secretly sold the shop without saying a word really angered her.

"A rouge shop?"

Ye Jintang sneered, it was rare that these two had been able to endure this long.

It really wasn't easy.

"Mother-in-law, I don't understand what you mean by that?"

Seeing that Ye Jintang could still feign ignorance, Old Madam Jiang became increasingly enraged.

Seeing this, Su Xuerou continued to chime in, "Sister, how could you sell the shop so easily? Didn't you think about the Marquis or your mother-in-law when you did these things?"

Don't you think this is going too far?
