Chapter 6

Chapter 6

The two people in the room stared at each other, and Lin Xing knew it was her turn to perform.

Lin Xing pretended to clear her throat and asked in a low voice, "What's your name?"

The girl said timidly, "My name is Panpan, and I have just reached the age of 15." Her voice was so soft that if Lin Xing had not had good hearing she would not have been able to hear it.

"I'm one year older than you, so just call me Sister Xiao Xing. From now on, you'll live in the restaurant. Are you willing?"

Panpan knelt down immediately after hearing this, and Lin Xing was so scared that she hurried to help her up, but she was unwilling to get up. Instead, she leaned over and said, "Xiao Xingjie, you are so kind, I will never forget it. Naturally, I am willing to stay in the restaurant and serve Xiao Xingjie."

"You don't have to call yourself a slave. You and I will be like sisters from now on. Hurry up and get up." Lin Xing tried to pull Pan Pan, but she didn't move. She pretended to be angry and said, "If you don't get up, I'll be angry."

Panpan finally relaxed and let Lin Xing help her up. The scars on her arms were faintly visible as her sleeves swayed, which was shocking.

Lin Xing couldn't help but feel pity, and said softly: "Your name is not good, my last name is Lin, and you and I will be like sisters in the future, so how about you also have the last name Lin?"

"Your servant," Lin Xing glared at her in an angry tone before she could finish her words. She quickly changed her words, "I, I do."

"The word 'Pan' doesn't look good either. Do you have a favorite word?"

After saying this, Lin Xing suddenly thought that she probably couldn't read. How could her family let her go to school when they treated her like this? However, Panpan began to think seriously, so Lin Xing didn't want to disturb her.

"Huan, I like this word." Lin Huan didn't think for long. She knew very few words, so it was easy for her to find a word she liked.

"Then it's settled. From now on, you'll be called Lin Huan."

There was a knock on the door, followed by Liu Lian's voice from outside the door.

"Young shopkeeper, are you in the house? Is it convenient for me to come in?"

"Come in."

Liu Lian pushed the door open and saw the two of them in such a pose. She smiled and joked, "It seems that you two get along very well. I feel relieved if that's the case. I wonder what the little girl's name is?"

"Sister Lian, her name is Lin Huan."

Lin Xing answered Liu Lian before Lin Huan did. She winked at Lin Huan, then leaned in close to her and whispered, "This is our little secret."

Liu Lian noticed their little trick but didn't expose them. Instead, she continued with Lin Xing's words, "That's a really good name. I'll call you Huan'er from now on."

Liu Lian pulled Lin Huan to her side and said to Lin Xing, "Boss, I'm going to take Huan'er away first. You should have a rest. I'll call you when it's time to eat."

She didn't give Lin Xing any chance to speak and just took Huan'er and left. However, she was considerate enough to remember to close the door before leaving. Lin Xing lay obediently on the bed to rest, thinking that the days ahead would be very lively, and fell asleep while thinking about it.

When Ms. Lin regained consciousness, she heard a hurried knock on the door. Without opening the door, she could guess that it was Sister Liu Lian outside, in a hurry. Fearing that Liu Lian might be waiting anxiously, Lin Xing hurried to open the door.

"Oh no, boss, something big has happened."

Liu Lian spoke immediately when she saw the door open. Her anxious expression scared Lin Xing. In an instant, she thought of many bad situations.

"Sister Liu Lian, don't worry, what happened?"

"Today is the restaurant's day off. Uncle Li wanted to use this opportunity to check the restaurant's recent accounts. He just fainted in the accounting office."

Lin Xing had an impression of Uncle Li, a kind old grandfather who had just come to pick her up.

"How is Uncle Li? Has he been sent to the hospital?"

"The person was sent there just after he fainted. Boss, let's go to the infirmary."

"Okay, let's go."

The carriage was ready in front of the restaurant. Liu Lian took Lin Xing on the carriage and headed quickly to the clinic. Soon they arrived in front of the clinic.

As soon as Lin Xing jumped off the carriage, she saw Uncle Gui standing outside the clinic. Liu Lian also noticed him and hurriedly called him, "Uncle Gui, how is Uncle Li? Is there anything wrong?"

"Shopkeeper, Xiaolian, Uncle Li is fine, don't worry."

"That's good. Why did Uncle Li suddenly faint? Doctor, no, did the doctor say anything?"

Lin Xing was so anxious that she almost forgot that she had traveled through time and space and this was not a hospital.

"Uncle Li is old, and he is a little overwhelmed by the sudden busyness today. It's nothing serious. The doctor said that he just needs to rest for a while, so don't worry too much, boss."

After hearing this, the two of them breathed a sigh of relief and patted their chests at the same time.

"Where's Uncle Li? The boss and I will go check on him."

"The person has been taken away by Uncle Li's son, who also resigned on behalf of Uncle Li."

"Uncle Li really needs a rest as he's old. I'll send some things to Uncle Li's house some other day. Let's hire another accountant some other day to fill the vacancy."

Lin Xing had been nodding in agreement with Sister Liu Lian's words. Hearing this, she suddenly perked up. It seemed that the restaurant needed her again.

"No need to look for it, I can go and help with the bill."

As soon as these words were spoken, they attracted the attention of the other two people. Liu Lian smiled and said, "Oh, our young shopkeeper also knows this skill?" Uncle Gui also laughed secretly when he heard it.

Lin Xing pouted and pretended to be angry, "Sister Lian, Uncle Gui, please don't look down on me. I came from a bank."

"Uncle Gui, since our young shopkeeper has said so, we can't refuse, right?"

Uncle Gui put away his smile and nodded in agreement. Lin Xing laughed immediately and stopped pretending.

"Okay, it's past dinner time. Let's go back to the restaurant quickly. I'm about to faint."

Liu Lian said this as she pulled Lin Xing onto the carriage, so fast it seemed as if she was really starving to death.

When the three returned to the restaurant, everyone had finished their meal. Liu Lian and Lin Xing went to the kitchen dejectedly to look for the cold food left for them.

The two starving ghosts came to the kitchen and found Lin Huan was there. Lin Huan lowered his head embarrassedly when he saw them come in.

"What's wrong, Huan'er, you haven't eaten either, have you?"

"No, Sister Xiao Xing."

Lin Xing was puzzled and wanted to ask more questions, but Liu Lian had already found the reserved food. She exclaimed, "Huan'er, are you the one heating up the food for us?"

Lin Huan nodded, and Liu Lian hugged her happily, then asked Uncle Gui who had arrived late to help serve the dishes.

Lin Xing and Lin Huan looked at the two busy people and wanted to help, but they could not get a hand at all and could only chat there.

"Huan'er, have you been waiting for us?"

"I didn't see you guys at dinner, so I went to ask about it. I guess I went to the kitchen to check, and Chef Wu was helping to prepare the food needed for the restaurant tomorrow and didn't notice that the food he left was already cold, so I helped out."

"Okay, come and eat, it will get cold soon."

Liu Lian and Wang Gui packed up everything and quickly invited them to eat. It was already dark and everyone was starving.

Lin Xing and Lin Huan immediately sat down and started eating. Lin Xing felt that this was the most delicious meal she had ever had since she came here. When everyone had almost finished eating, Sister Lian and Uncle Gui said they wanted to discuss some matters at the restaurant and asked Lin Huan to go back and rest first.

A new official has three things to do when he takes office, and this new boss also has a lot to do. Listening to what Sister Lian and Uncle Gui said, Lin Xing wailed in her heart. After they told Lin Xing everything about the restaurant, they finally let her go back to rest.

Lin Xing walked out of the door in a daze and heard Liu Lian's last words: "Go back and rest quickly, but don't go to the accounting office to check the account book, there is no rush."

After dealing with it casually, Lin Xing returned to her room bathed in the moonlight. She felt that the scenery in the restaurant seemed a little better than that in the money house. Suddenly there was a cry. Lin Xing looked around and realized that she seemed to have walked near someone else's dormitory.

After silently repeating "Don't listen if it's not appropriate" three times, Lin Xing remembered that this seemed to be Lin Huan's room. She wanted to leave immediately, after all, no one wants to be caught like this by others, but Lin Huan's crying made Lin Xing unable to take a step to leave.

After hesitating for a moment, she ran to the accounting office. The accounting office was very close to Lin Huan's bedroom, and the whole trip, plus some writing, took less than five minutes.

In a blink of an eye, Lin Xing stood in front of Lin Huan's door with a letter in her hand. She stuffed the letter through the crack in the door. When she heard the crying in the room stop, she immediately ran back to her bedroom.

Lin Xing didn't know whether her letter had comforted Lin Huan. To be honest, she could somewhat understand Lin Huan's feelings. Her mother died when she was three years old, and her father was not a good man either. He remarried when she was four years old and gave birth to a younger brother for her in less than half a year.

From then on, she was sent to her grandmother in the countryside. Her grandfather had also passed away, and her grandmother raised her alone. To make matters worse, her grandmother also passed away when she was a junior in college. Since then, all the people who were good to her left her, so she didn't miss home at all.

Lin Huan is very similar to her. She feels sorry for her experience. If she were still a student in modern times, she wonders if she would have a grandmother.

Thinking of her grandmother, Lin Xing suddenly burst into tears. Her grandmother hitchhiked to visit her at her university, but she had a car accident on the highway and hit her brain stem. She struggled for a month before finally passing away.

In the morning, Lin Xing received news that her grandmother was coming to see her. In the afternoon, she received news that her grandmother had been in a car accident. The feeling was exactly the same as when she saw Xiaotao's body.

She fell asleep while crying, and the only person who knew her pain was her wet pillow.

Lin Xing was awakened by the crowing of a rooster. When she walked out of the door in a daze, she found that everyone had already started preparing for the day. At that time, she had not realized how busy their restaurant would be. She just felt that it was the same as running a small game, and threw herself into the work with full confidence.

"I'm so tired. Am I not the shopkeeper? Why do I have to be a waiter, a waiter, and a cook?"

After finishing a day's work, Lin Xing, who was slumped in a chair in the accounting office, complained to Liu Lian who was also slumped.

Liu Lian replied weakly: "Boss, today was an accident. We didn't open yesterday, so it's understandable that there are more people today."

"I don't understand. I still have to be an accountant. Oh my God!"

"Is accountant a new name given by the shopkeeper? But don't worry, boss. I won't be so tired tomorrow."

Lin Xing didn't even have the strength to nod and looked weakly at the account book in front of her.

"Thank you for your hard work, this is the Tremella fuciformis porridge I made specially for Sister Lian and Sister Xiao Xing."

"Huan'er, why are you here? You've been so busy today, go and have a rest."

Seeing Lin Huan coming in, the two of them quickly took the things from her hands.

"Sister Xiao Xing, I'm not tired. Let me see if there's anything I can do to help."

"Really? Huan'er, please help me sort out the account books that the boss has looked at. I'm busy here too."

"Okay, Sister Lian."

The few of them stopped talking for a while and each did their own work. Suddenly, Lin Xing screamed, and the other two were frightened and quickly looked at Lin Xing.
