Chapter 73 Brothers and Sisters

Chapter 73 Brothers and Sisters

Chapter 73

Among the twelve countries, Duxue Country is the only one with the Xue family.

A princess and a prince, both with the surname Xue.

After a brief moment of bewilderment, Jian Feng's eyes immediately lit up with disbelief and surprise. He practically cheered, "Aying, are you my biological sister, three hundred years younger than me?"

Yingji frowned slightly and looked at Jianfeng.

Jianfeng didn't notice the peculiar look on Yingji's face. He said happily, "No wonder you're so friendly to me! I'm lucky I didn't abandon you when we encountered danger a few times before. I'm lucky! I'm lucky! Is this some kind of divine will? Ah Ying, come and call me brother!"

Yingji snapped back to her senses. She suddenly waved her hand, and before Jianfeng could react, a talisman had already been applied to him. Then, Jianfeng's body uncontrollably retreated.

Jianfeng's joy had not yet faded, and his rationality slowly returned. His body continued to retreat, staring blankly at Yingji who was getting farther and farther away.

In contrast to him, Yingji's eyes showed no trace of joy, and even the previous affection for each other disappeared. She looked at him coldly, as if she wanted to break off ties with him immediately.

"Don't let me see you again. Otherwise I will kill you." Ying Ji said this coldly, turned around and stepped into the room, leaving Jian Feng with a back that was getting farther and farther away and colder.

The talisman on Jianfeng's body dissipated like wind, and his retreating steps stopped, and the wooden door of the courtyard closed in front of him with a "bang".

Jianfeng was stunned.

He vaguely heard Kong Fan's sigh in the small courtyard.

Jianfeng stood outside the closed courtyard door, his brows furrowed, confused and puzzled.

In the courtyard, Bajiao stood there, bewildered. She hadn't yet mastered Jianfeng's new tricks. She wanted to go find Jianfeng, but she knew, naively, that she couldn't do that under the current circumstances. She wanted to find the princess and cuddle in her arms, but she felt inexplicably that this wasn't the right time to go. Finally, she looked to Kongfan for help.

Kong Fan smiled slightly and comforted Bajiao: "Go and play."

Basho obediently found a corner in the yard, squatted down, tilted his head, and drew on the ground with his fingers.

Kong Fan walked into the room and saw Yingji sitting at the table, writing something. He walked closer and saw that Yingji was drawing a topographical map of Wangu Mountain. She had consulted several maps of Wangu Mountain and created another one according to her needs.

She looked focused, as if she was not disturbed at all by what had just happened.

She dipped her head in ink, her long black hair flowing over her shoulders like a waterfall. Kong Fan walked over and reached out to gather her long black hair. He gathered her long hair in his palm, conjured a red silk thread, and tied it behind her back.

Yingji didn't move, waiting for Kongfan to comb her hair. Then she half-closed her eyes and asked, "Monk, do you want to persuade me?"

"No." Kong Fan reached out and took the pen from Yingji's hand. He held her shoulders with both hands and asked her to turn sideways to face him. He looked into Yingji's eyes and said, "I just want to hug you."

Yingji turned away in embarrassment, not daring to look him in the eye. Some pain and vulnerability were buried deep within her heart, something she didn't want to reveal to anyone. Even to Kongfan.

Kong Fan gently held Ying Ji in his arms.

Yingji closed her eyes and leaned briefly in Kongfan's arms.

Soon, Yingji calmed down. Still nestled in Kongfan's arms, she closed her eyes and whispered, "Monk, if you have pity on me, please help me get the poisonous spider fruit."

Kong Fan lowered his eyes and looked at her, saying softly, "Since I don't sympathize with you, I naturally won't pity you either."

Yingji smiled helplessly. She took a step back from Kongfan's embrace and asked, "Why don't you stay at Pujia Temple and cultivate with your master instead of following me?"

Kong Fan said frankly, "I don't want you to refine the monster, so I won't help you get the poisonous spider fruit, but I will save you."

As he spoke, Kong Fan frowned, with worry in his eyes.

Ying Ji chuckled and said, "Are you being so innocent? You didn't help me get the poisonous spider fruit, but you saved me. Aren't you afraid that I will use my own safety to force you to help me?"

"Afraid." Kong Fan nodded.

Ying Ji smiled charmingly and asked, "What would you do if I really threatened your life to force you to help me steal the poisonous spider fruit?"

Kong Fan shook his head: "I don't know."

Yingji stopped laughing and her tone dropped the joking tone. She said seriously, "Kongfan, I don't need your help."

I don't know if this is just a show of anger. This time, Yingji didn't want to resort to trickery to get Kongfan to help her. She wanted to succeed on her own, to show him.

Yingji picked up her pen again, her eyes returning to the topographic map on the table. She said, "I know you wouldn't want to go back if I told you to. So if you have nothing to do, go play with Bajiao. If you're here, I'll be distracted."

Kong Fan thought for a moment and said, "I'll go cook."

Yingji paused for a moment and said, "That's fine."

Kong Fan walked out, and Bajiao, who was outside the courtyard, peeked in through the crack in the door. Ying Ji still didn't look up. Even without looking, she could guess Bajiao's expression. She said, "Bajiao, beat Jianfeng up when you see him next time."

Bajiao felt a little regretful, but she always obeyed Yingji's words. She nodded obediently, clenched her fist, and swore, "I will listen to you, Princess! Beat him to death!"

Yingji was momentarily dazed, and several flashes of her shared hardships with Jianfeng flashed before her eyes. However, she quickly dismissed those images and focused more on her plan to sneak into Wangu Mountain.

Kong Fan asked Bajiao to stay in the yard, and he went to the market to buy some fresh vegetables, which he brought back to cook for Yingji.

"Monk?" Jian Feng quietly slipped over to Kong Fan. He had too many doubts in his mind and he had to get to the bottom of them.

Kong Fan glanced at him and advised, "Leave here."

"You have to tell me why?" Jianfeng asked.

"I can only tell you that she is very averse to the identity of her brother." Kong Fan stopped explaining and walked back with the purchased fruits and vegetables.

Jianfeng followed Kongfan beside him, not asking further questions, but pondering the matter. Since his death and transformation into his current spirit form, he had been away from humanity for three hundred years, barely concerned with worldly affairs. He had never returned home after his death, and no one knew what had happened in the Snow Country during the three hundred years since his death.

As they were about to return to the courtyard, Jian Feng glanced at the fruits and vegetables in Kong Fan's hand and asked, "What does she like to eat?"

He began to inquire about her preferences. He wanted to do something for her, even cook a meal.

"No." Kong Fan said.

"How could there not be? Everyone has taste preferences, right?"

Kong Fan stopped and glanced down at the fruits and vegetables he had brought. He had always wanted to know what Ying Ji liked to eat the most.

"She hates eating and has been starving herself since she was a child to eat less. Every time she gets hungry, it reminds her that she is an ordinary person who cannot practice cultivation."

Jianfeng was stunned.

Kong Fan took a step forward, then paused. He turned and said to Jian Feng, "You are her brother, and that is a happy thing for me."

"Why?" Kong Fan just smiled without saying anything. He pushed open the gate of the courtyard, carrying vegetables and fruits, and walked in lightly.

Jianfeng stood alone outside the courtyard for a long time. He was torn and hesitant. He wasn't a homesick man, and his feelings for his blood relatives were minimal. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stayed away from visiting his family in Duxue Country for three hundred years after his death.

If Yingji was just an ordinary princess in the Duxue Kingdom's palace, he certainly wouldn't have the leisure to stand here and think about how to maintain a good relationship with her.

Yingji was different. When Jianfeng first met her, they were unaware of their blood relationship, and despite having experienced several life-or-death struggles together, there was always something different about Yingji.

Jianfeng looked at the small courtyard before him. Yingji didn't want to pay any attention to him. Bajiao would definitely follow Yingji's orders. Even Kongfan couldn't get any answers. It was obvious that Jianfeng would not get any answers here.

However, Kong Fan's words that Ying Ji was very sensitive about her brother's identity reminded Jian Feng.

Jian Feng pondered for a long time, then turned and headed towards the Duxue Kingdom's palace. There must be the answer he wanted there.

This was also the first time he had returned home since his death.

A few days later, on a night as cold as water, when Jianfeng stood in front of the gate of the Duxue Kingdom Palace, he felt dazed.

It has been almost three hundred years since he left home.

"Who is it?" The patrolling royal guards spotted Jian Feng. Soon, a team of royal guards came running in unison and surrounded Jian Feng.

Soon, the captain of the guards noticed something about Jian Feng. He looked at Jian Feng carefully and asked in confusion, "Soul Man?"

Jianfeng curled the corners of his lips slightly and read out the name that was once extremely familiar but now covered with a layer of dust.

"Snowy Stream."

The guards were somewhat unfamiliar with the name, but in the Duxue Kingdom, the Xue clan only had royal family members. Just as some were wondering if the person before them was one of His Majesty's illegitimate children who had wandered away, the captain of the guards suddenly changed his expression and even took a step back.

Jian Feng raised his eyebrows and looked at him, saying leisurely, "Still serving as a guard. Bai Hansheng."

"The eldest prince!" The captain of the guards, Bai Hansheng, knelt down with a plop.

The other guards around him were bewildered. How could the man before them be the crown prince? The crown prince of the Duxue Kingdom was clearly Xue Zhongyu.

Bai Hansheng realized he had said the wrong thing, and a cold sweat broke out on his back. He immediately changed his words: "Your Highness the Second Prince!"

Bai Hansheng looked up, but the Second Prince was nowhere to be seen. Puzzled, he stood up and scanned the area, but the Second Prince was nowhere to be seen. The other guards also looked around in bewilderment.

"Should we report this to His Majesty?" a guard reminded.

Bai Hansheng came to his senses and quickly walked towards the palace.

At the same time, the emperor who was practicing in the palace suddenly opened his eyes.

Jian Feng had already quietly entered the Duxue Kingdom's palace. He avoided the palace guards and walked slowly along the corridor under the palace wall. It was a palace path he was very familiar with.

When he was still alive, this palace road was lush with flowers and he would meet many palace servants along the way. However, when he walked along it again today, all he saw was a desolate scene, and there was no trace of palace servants.

Not being able to encounter palace maids was actually a good thing for him.

Jianfeng stopped in front of a dilapidated palace. He gently pushed open the door, stepped in, looked around the weed-covered courtyard, and a sarcastic smile appeared on his lips.

Sensing a familiar aura behind him, Jian Feng said slowly, "The palace is so spacious, and this place hasn't been cleaned up to make room for the newcomers. It's been sitting idle for so long."

"This is where my son was born and grew up. How can I let someone else live here?" The Emperor of Duxue Kingdom walked out from the darkness and looked at Jianfeng's back.

Jian Feng turned his back to his father for a long time. He thought some scenes from his youth would emerge in his mind, but he found that his mind was blank and he could not recall anything.

It seems that I am really a cold and unfeeling person.

"Father has always known that you are still alive and have not yet entered the Soul-Destroying Well. He has been waiting for you to return home."

Jianfeng smiled.

He turned around and looked at his father whom he hadn't seen for three hundred years. He said in a relaxed tone, "Even in this half-dead state, you still welcome me home?"

"Of course." The Emperor of Duxue Nation walked towards Jianfeng step by step, saying as he walked, "You are my father's most outstanding child, my first child. No one can replace your unique position in my heart."

He walked over to Jianfeng and stood still, gazing closely at his eldest son. Three hundred years had passed, and even though he had lived forever, his features bore many traces of age. The son before him was still as youthful and bright as he had been when he died.

The Emperor of the Duxue Nation first looked away. With a wave of his hand, the weeds in the courtyard gradually came to life, turning from dead to green, sprouting and blooming. Everything returned to its vibrant state three hundred years ago.

He said, "Welcome home my son."

Jianfeng looked at his father. He was very curious, how could a person be so shameless?
