Chapter 6 006 Under the Robe
Chapter 6
Kong Fan took a slow step forward and arrived in front of Ying Ji. He saw the fear and hesitation in Ying Ji's eyes.
"Hand it over." Kong Fan repeated.
Yingji backed away again, her back pressed against the wall, with nowhere to retreat. She bit her lip lightly and suddenly broke into a run, trying to slip past Kongfan.
Kong Fan reached out to stop her. He didn't like skin contact, so he grabbed the sleeve of her robe.
But Kong Fan didn't expect that her wide robe would be pulled off by him like this.
Yingji wore nothing underneath her long red robe. She slumped to the ground, her delicate body twisted sideways, one hand on the ground, the other covering her chest, as she looked at Kongfan with grievance. Her beautiful body still bore the distorted scars of recently repaired wounds, a startling sight.
Kong Fan was startled for a moment, then his grip loosened, and the robe he was holding slowly fell. A leaf from the Bodhi tree also slowly fell.
What she had hidden in her robe was actually just a bodhi leaf. Looking at the bodhi leaf that slowly fell to the ground, Kong Fan suddenly felt a sense of guilt.
Kong Fan turned away from Ying Ji and frowned, "Why aren't you wearing any clothes again?"
"Again?" Yingji looked at Kong Fan blankly and innocently with her moist and lustrous eyes.
Kong Fan immediately pursed his lips. He couldn't possibly claim that he had entered her consciousness and witnessed the scenes she imagined.
"I, I just finished taking a shower and didn't know Your Majesty would come." Yingji lowered her eyes, and her voice was weak and choked with sobs as she defended herself.
Yingji looked at Kongfan, slowly lowered her hands that were blocking her chest, supported herself on the ground with both hands, and slowly crawled forward - to pick up her robe.
She reached out and grabbed the corner of the red robe, quickly pulling it towards her, and haphazardly wrapped it around her. She looked panicked, wishing she could hide her face with the robe, leaving only her eyes exposed as she cautiously looked at Kong Fan.
Her upper body was tightly wrapped, but her injured leg seemed to have accidentally peeked out from under her robe, with a twisted scar running across her thigh. The glaring red and the black stitches formed a sharp contrast with her snow-white skin.
Kong Fan looked over and saw the twisted stitches on her leg. He frowned and asked, "Who stitched it up for you?"
Yingji shook her head: "I don't know either. When I woke up, my injuries had already been healed."
She hurriedly tried to explain, "It hurts so much. Maybe it's because I moved around and didn't cooperate, so the wound didn't get stitched properly."
As she spoke, she reached out to pull at her robe to cover the ugly wound on her leg.
Kong Fan squatted down and flicked his hand. The robe covering Ying Ji's leg slowly blew upward, completely revealing the wound that was half the length of his palm. Kong Fan spread his slender hand and placed it over Ying Ji's leg wound. A soft golden light was faintly visible.
This wasn't a wound that someone else had stitched up for Yingji. She had cut it open with scissors herself, gritted her teeth, and deliberately sewed it up in such a messy way. The pain from cutting open the wound and stitching it back together was so severe that Yingji fainted several times, and the pain continues to this day.
A kind-hearted person should certainly make use of his compassion.
The pain in her legs gradually eased, and Yingji took a long breath. She looked at Kongfan, sincerely envying his strength.
This is a power that she will never be able to possess in her lifetime.
I’m so envious…
The blood-stained black suture rope slowly fell off, and Yingji's legs had recovered as before. Her skin was as white as porcelain and snow. Except for a little redness, there were no more deep wounds visible to the bone.
"Thank you, Your Majesty." Yingji reached out to pull the robe, wrapped her legs, and even wrapped her bare feet tightly.
She was trying to strike a balance - if she wanted Kong Fan to stay a little longer and talk to her, she couldn't expose herself any further.
Then she began to wait, waiting for Kong Fan to ask questions.
"Why hide a Bodhi leaf?" Kong Fan asked.
The gentle smile on Yingji's face froze, and an expression of difficulty in speaking emerged between her eyebrows. She trembled and said, "Can you not say it?"
"Okay." Kong Fan nodded.
Yingji: ...
Oops, it seems my ability to know when to advance and when to retreat needs improvement.
Kong Fan stood up, and Ying Ji hurriedly grabbed the corner of his monk's sleeve. She looked up at Kong Fan and mustered her courage: "Ying Ji is guilty!"
She let go of Kong Fan's sleeve, slowly twisted her body and knelt down, looking as if she was asking for forgiveness.
"I stole the Bodhi leaf. I planned to show it to the Queen Mother tomorrow. I lied to her that it was given to me by His Majesty..." The tears in her eyes rolled down. She opened her eyes wide and looked at Kong Fan, sincerely repenting: "I know I was wrong. I beg Your Majesty to forgive me!"
Kong Fan didn't understand, "Why do you do this?"
"Because if I don't win His Majesty's favor, the Queen Mother will kill me!" Ying Ji said with fear, "I don't want to die, I want to live a good life!"
Kongfan's eyes showed compassion.
"The Queen Mother will not kill you. Where is your home? I will take you home," he said.
But Kong Fan didn't expect that the fear in Yingji's eyes was even greater. She shook her head desperately, her whole body trembling with fear.
"I have no home anymore, Your Majesty, please don't drive me away! Many people want to kill me! Including my parents! Your Majesty, don't you know my situation? If I leave the Chaoxi Palace, my enemies will come to kill me. I won't leave, I won't go anywhere..." Ying Ji clasped her hands together and performed an awkward Buddhist salute to Kong Fan.
"Get up." Kong Fan frowned. "If you want to stay in Chaoxi, then stay here. Don't cry."
Yingji instantly quieted down, and smiled at Kongfan with her wet eyes.
"Go to bed early." Kong Fan turned around, lifted the bead curtain and walked out.
He had been out of the Xingji Palace for a long time. The cool night breeze blew towards him, and he slowly felt the cool breeze.
Kong Fan stopped and turned to look at the Xingji Palace in the distance, confusion appearing in his usually clear eyes.
He came here tonight to inquire about the relationship between the Demon Suppression Tower, the Black Python and Ying Ji, but in the end he didn't ask a single question.
Kong Fan shook his head, feeling that this was a really confusing night.
·
Yingji leaned against the headboard, holding a bowl of porridge in her hands and eating it in small sips. She was already weak from her injuries, and she was really tired from performing today. Filling her stomach with something warm made her whole body feel comfortable.
Basho climbed onto her bed, looked at her eagerly, and said, "I want to eat it too!"
Yingji was already full, so she held the spoon and fed Bajiao. Bajiao ate with a smacking sound and opened his mouth wide towards Yingji.
"Shh." Yingji put her index finger to her lips. She pinched Basho's face again and whispered, "Never let others know that you are not human. Remember?"
Basho nodded, her eyes wide open, waiting for Yingji to continue feeding her.
Bajiao ate happily, and Yingji was also very happy to feed her. She felt relaxed and comfortable, a feeling she didn't have when she was with others.
·
Kong Fan walked into the library, stood in front of the tall bookshelf, and flipped through historical volumes. He was tall and straight, and his monk's robe was as white as snow.
Kong Yu came up from downstairs and walked to Kong Fan. He said, "Brother, everything is arranged. We can leave the palace at any time to capture the black python and other escaped demons."
"Are there any traces of him?"
"Uh..." Kong Yu coughed lightly. "It's strange, but this black python has disappeared since escaping from the Red Fire Mountain. We've sent out many demon guards, but we haven't been able to find his whereabouts."
Kong Fan said nothing and slowly turned another page.
Kong Yu raised his eyes to glance at the book in Kong Fan's hand and saw that it was a book of unofficial history that recorded events that happened a thousand years ago.
He remembered that his senior brother seemed to have always been interested in things that happened thousands of years ago and had read many books from that era.
Kong Fan suddenly closed the book, turned around and asked him, "Do you know what happened to Yingji in the past?"
Kong Yu was confused. "Brother, what are you asking about?" Yingji had done many famous things in the past.
Kong Fan paused and added, "She said her parents wanted to kill her."
"Well," Kong Yu said, "She had an affair with her own brother, which infuriated their parents. Her brother refused to repent and would rather give up his royal title than submit. So, he stopped practicing and left the Duxue Kingdom. After his brother left, Yingji's parents naturally blamed her for ruining their son."
Kong Fan was surprised to hear this and asked, "Her brother doesn't repent and doesn't try to dissuade her brother, so why is she blaming her?"
This question stumped Kong Yu. He wanted to say that Ying Ji had probably seduced his brother on purpose. But then he thought about how his senior brother disliked making malicious assumptions about others, and he swallowed the words that were on his lips.
A palace servant came up quietly from downstairs and stood not far away, reporting: "Your Majesty, Yingji requests an audience."
When Yingji followed the palace maid upstairs, she happened to meet Kongyu coming down and leaving. As they passed by, Kongyu's eyes fell on Yingji.
Yingji felt it and turned her head to smile at him.
Kong Yu immediately withdrew his gaze and walked away expressionlessly.
Yingji knew from Kongyu's name and the way he addressed Kongfan that he must have been a monk. However, with his black hair tied high and a sword at his waist, he looked nothing like a monk.
Yingji went up to the second floor and saw Kongfan at a glance.
The library's large windows let in the perfect amount of sunlight from outside. Kong Fan, dressed in a snow-white monk's robe, stood in the shadows between two bookshelves, a soft and sacred aura lingering around him.
His gentle Buddha-nature normally obscured his graceful elegance, but now, the brilliant light illuminated his features, allowing his beauty, like the gentle breeze and bright moon, to shine forth, drawing the eye to him. To gaze upon him was to immerse oneself in the absolute enjoyment of appreciating beauty.
Suddenly a gust of wind blew Kongfan's monk's robe, and Yingji smelled the faint ancient sandalwood scent on him.
Kong Fan turned his head and looked over with his clear, starry eyes.
"Yingji." he called.
Yingji was a bit dazed. Perhaps it was because Kongfan had been reciting too many scriptures, but his voice was tinged with the Buddhist peace. When she heard him call her name, she always felt a little different from when others called her.
Yingji placed her palm on her chest and gently touched the jade pendant she wore close to her body. If the Black Python really had captured her because it had smelled the scent of a fox demon on her, then she would be able to attract the Black Python even more by removing the fox demon jade pendant from her Qiankun capsule and wearing it close to her body.
Yingji walked slowly towards Kongfan. She looked into his eyes and said happily, "Your Majesty, I have figured out a way to find the black python!"
Kong Fan turned around completely and faced Ying Ji, waiting for her to continue.
"The Black Python mistook me for someone else and took the risk of capturing me. Now that I'm in the palace, he won't show up again. What if I'm not in the palace? Using me as bait, putting me in a less safe place, maybe the Black Python will show up on his own!"
"No." Kong Fan rejected.
"Why?" Yingji anxiously took a step forward, getting closer to Kongfan. The silver bell on her ankle rang softly and crisply.
Kong Fan smelled a unique fragrance on Yingji. It was elusive, seemingly nonexistent when he couldn't smell it, yet incredibly rich when he could. When he tried to inhale deeply, it suddenly vanished.
"Your Majesty, do you also think that I am just a mortal and can't do anything? I just want to help Your Majesty. Your Majesty, let me try, okay? I will be very careful. Your Majesty can take your men to hide in the dark, and as soon as the black python appears, attack him immediately. Your Majesty, this method is really feasible! Let me try it!" Ying Ji took another step forward, closer to Kong Fan.
Her gentle voice called "Your Majesty" over and over again, causing Kong Fan's brows to gradually furrow.
He waited until Yingji finally finished speaking, then passed by her and went downstairs.
Yingji hurried to follow.
Kong Fan stopped in front of a bookshelf downstairs, took out a book and handed it to Yingji.
Yingji lowered her eyes and looked—Diamond Sutra
Kong Fan said gently, "You should read more. It's best to copy ten pages of scriptures every night. This will help you calm your mind and nourish your energy."
"Also, you can just call me Kong Fan."
