Qi Yu drove to Xu Mei's residence and practically broke down the door. Sitting directly opposite the door was Gu Chaodong. He knew Qi Yu would come and had even brought a chair to sit by the door.
He looked at Xu Mei as if seeking praise, then stood up and began to put on his coat.
"I told you, men understand men best. They only show their emotions in the most critical moments."
As he was about to leave, he patted Qi Yu on the shoulder as he passed by.
"You're not young anymore. Do more good deeds. Even if you're clinging to someone else's daughter, you should at least let the child meet her mother."
Neither of them paid him any attention, but he was still laughing and humming a song as he left. As soon as the elevator doors closed, Qi Yu immediately closed the door to his room and strode towards Xu Mei.
She remained as languid as ever, sitting sideways in her chair, her hands under her face, resting on the back of the chair, watching him walk in.

Their words were automatically filtered out by Qi Yu as nonsense. He simply pulled Xu Mei's sleeve to make her sit up straight and look him in the eye.

Xu Mei froze. She broke free of the arm that was holding her and slumped into the chair, her body going limp.
"You really don't know? Then it seems I've hidden it very well. He probably doesn't know either, so I'm still holding a grudge against her."
Her feigned ignorance infuriated Qi Yu so much that his heart nearly jumped out of his chest. He casually grabbed a coat from the hanger, threw it at Xu Mei, and pulled her towards the door.

In a private room at an old hotel in Jingyang, Gu Chaodong, Lin Zixu, and their classmate Lao He sat around a round table, each person spaced equidistant from the next. The waiter had served the dishes before they entered, and the door to the private room was now locked.
Old He maintained a smile throughout, casually pouring tea and drinking water, appreciating the expressions of the two people opposite him.
Having lived to their age and experienced so much, they have old friends and new acquaintances; to say even a single polite word would be a waste of their lives.
Old He spoke first.

Lin Zixu gave a forced smile.
"I can also see through your hypocrisy and affectation, Uncle Dong, which has remained unchanged for fifty years."
"Brother Lin, don't be in such a hurry. This is only the first drink. You know me, the most important drink for me is always the second one."
Gu Chaodong tilted his head back and drank a glass of wine in one gulp, then poured himself a full glass and held it up to Lin Zixu.
