Chapter 38
"Classmate, what are you doing here alone?"
Tao Xi looked up and saw a man in his forties in security uniform looking at him. He slowly stood up from the ground, and the moment he stood up, he almost lost his balance because his feet were numb.
The security guard was stunned when he saw Tao Xi's expression in the twilight outside the window. He thought that this student might have just suffered some injustice and wanted to vent his emotions in the empty concert hall, so he asked with concern:
"Are you a student in the orchestra? Don't you have your keys?"
Tao Xi was silent for a while and nodded.
"It's okay, I'll open the door for you." The security guard said as he walked towards the entrance of the concert hall with a bunch of keys. Seeing Tao Xi still standing next to the trash can, he urged her in confusion, "Why don't you come over?"
Tao Xi then walked towards the door of the concert hall, his steps were a little messy and his fingers were tightly clenched together. He saw the familiar door being opened. In the huge and empty concert hall, the red-gold twilight spread in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and burned silently on the black piano in the center.
"Don't practice the piano in there for too long, and just remember to close the door when you leave." The security guard reminded, and turned around to find that the student next to him seemed even more sad the moment the door opened.
He didn't know what to say, so he gave a few more instructions.
Tao Xi thanked the security guard, stood quietly at the door for a while, and then walked towards the black piano in the twilight, following a rugged shadow.
He sat down on the piano chair and opened the piano cover. The twilight instantly flowed over the black and white keys, waiting for someone to play the notes.
He couldn't help thinking of that evening, when it was also this dusk, when Lin Qinhe held his wrist and brought him here, and asked him with his back to the concert hall: "Can this place hold your tears?"
Then he played a song called "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" which only he could hear.
Tao Xi stared at the piano keys in front of him, recalling the person's gestures when he played.
He stretched out his hands, wanting to play, but he didn't know how to play, and his hands were suspended above the keys.
Finally, he randomly pressed a white key on the piano, and the lonely note sounded abruptly in the empty concert hall.
He also remembered that a long time ago, he hid outside the door and saw Lin Qinhe sitting in front of this piano and playing. Not far away was Yang Duole who was playing the cello, and there were other members of the symphony orchestra playing various instruments. They looked calm, as if they were born to sit in gorgeous clothes in the magnificent concert hall.
At that time, he looked at those people, as if he was peeping at another glamorous world underground, filled with jealousy and resentment.
Tao Xi took a deep breath and put his hand on the piano lid, trying to close it.
He thought he finally understood that some things that have been lost and missed, even if they are found later, will not be the same as they were originally.
Just like even if he recognized his relatives, he would never be able to go back to his childhood, learn a musical instrument, gain the love of his relatives, and grow up with Lin Qinhe.
Tao Xi wanted to get up and leave, but suddenly heard the sound of a door opening behind him.
He immediately withdrew his hands and clenched them on his knees, his upper body stiff, and he had a guess in his mind that he couldn't believe, but he didn't look back, he could only hear the familiar footsteps approaching him.
Soon the man walked to the piano and sat down next to him.
After a brief silence, the person sitting next to me stretched out his beautiful ten fingers and played a few familiar notes on the piano keys.
It was that song. Tao Xi pursed her lips tightly and still didn't look to the side.
Lin Qinhe asked him in a low voice: "Do you want to play the piano?"
Tao Xi sneered, then looked at Lin Qinhe and said sarcastically, "I'm not like you who received the best education since childhood and can learn everything. How can I play the piano?"
His tone was extremely bad, his eyes were full of sarcasm and anger, but he didn't know that there were still traces of tears on his face, and his eyelashes were still glued to his slightly red and moist eyes, which made people feel that he was wronged.
Lin Qinhe looked at Tao Xi, his eyes darkened for a moment, he suddenly remembered that this person was also like this when he first came to Wenhua No. 1 Middle School, he was full of thorns, when did he become obedient in front of him?
"You can try playing it casually, and I will accompany you." Lin Qinhe's voice was calm, without a trace of displeasure.
Tao Xi was stunned for a moment, feeling that his anger was half extinguished by a stream of cold water. He pursed his lips, stretched out his hands and began to play the piano keys without any method, making a series of strange sounds.
Lin Qinhe quickly stretched out his ten fingers and played the keys on the other side in sync with the tune he was playing, miraculously transforming the chaotic piano sounds into a tune that was still worth listening to.
This is a strange four-hand duet, between a person who can't play the piano at all and a person with extremely high piano attainments.
As if he was angry, Tao Xi played faster and more chaotically with his fingers flying, but Lin Qinhe always tried his best to cooperate with him. It seemed that no matter how he played, it would become the most beautiful music in the world in Lin Qinhe's hands.
Until Tao Xi pressed hard on the keys with all ten fingers, producing an extremely discordant and unpleasant sound, he turned his head and looked at Lin Qinhe, with his chin slightly raised, his expression somewhat provocative and willful.
Lin Qinhe looked at him, not angry, with some indulgent helplessness in his eyes, and sighed softly: "I can't do anything if you do this."
Tao Xi couldn't help laughing, but he quickly stopped smiling. He still had an angry expression on his face, and kept his head down without saying a word.
Lin Qinhe accompanied him in silence for a while. Only the increasingly rich blush twilight outside the floor-to-ceiling window silently dyed the two people sitting side by side in front of the piano.
Suddenly, Tao Xi heard Lin Qinhe whispered to him: "Don't you have anything to tell me or ask me?"
The tone was so gentle, as if she was coaxing him.
Tao Xi looked down at the piano keys that were dyed orange in front of her, and the voice was still very harsh:
"Yes, let me tell you, I really, really hate Lin Qinhe now."
His tone was a little childish, and he thought Lin Qinhe might get angry after hearing it, but he heard Lin Qinhe calmly answer:
"Then I hate him too."
Tao Xi was startled and asked subconsciously: "Why?"
Who would say they hate themselves when someone else says they hate them? What's more, this person is Lin Qinhe, who is perfect in every way.
"Because he made you unhappy." Lin Qinhe lowered his eyes and looked at him, saying in a low voice.
Tao Xi's eyelashes trembled violently, and all the anger, sadness, grievance...all kinds of emotions rushed into her heart, making her feel sore and swollen, but there was no way to dispel it.
He stood up suddenly from the piano chair, as if he was fed up with the feeling of his heart being suspended in the air and wanted to completely vent the emotions that had been pent up in his heart for a long time. He clenched his fists and shouted at Lin Qinhe:
"Lin Qinhe, are you treating me like a fool? You did it on purpose, deliberately letting me hang around you every day, and letting me make friends, but when I get along better with others, you give me a cold shoulder and deliberately ignore me! You lied to me that you were going to college with me, but secretly you applied to American schools with Yang Duole! They all said you were good, good-looking, good grades, and everything else, but only I knew that you were not a good person at all!"
He was still out of breath after yelling, but his heart seemed to be suddenly empty, with only emptiness. He was clearly scolding someone else, but in the end, he was the one who felt uncomfortable because he liked that person.
Tao Xi watched with red eyes as Lin Qinhe closed the piano cover and stood up. He looked at himself. The tenderness he showed when he played the piano and coaxed people patiently before seemed to be an illusion. The bottom of his eyes suppressed a deeper darkness in the blood-red twilight, and he said in a hoarse voice:
"Yes, I'm not okay at all."
Before Tao Xi could react, he was dragged over suddenly. His vision went dark and a hand grabbed the back of his neck tightly. He was forced to bend his neck and raise his head. Then, his lips were covered by a soft layer.
His mind went blank for a moment, and he subconsciously closed his eyes and held his breath, forgetting everything as he let that person kiss him eagerly and lick his lips. The skin on the back of his neck was rubbed and kneaded by the thinly calloused fingers, causing a slight stinging pain.
Tao Xi's eyelashes trembled constantly, his heart suddenly beat violently, and his chest rose and fell more and more rapidly. He had never been kissed before, and he didn't even know how to open his mouth. Only his face was terribly hot, his legs were getting softer and softer, and he leaned against Lin Qinhe unconsciously.
This action seemed to please the other party. Lin Qinhe pressed his waist and brought him into his arms. The kiss became gentler, and then he gently kissed the corner of his mouth and said to him in a hoarse voice:
"Look, I kissed you without your permission, and that wasn't nice at all."
Lin Qinhe let him go. He slowly opened his eyes in a daze, his eyes were moist and his breathing was a little rapid. He looked at the blurry person in front of him and murmured like a dream:
"You, what do you mean?"
He subconsciously pursed his moist lips. In his mind, there were only traces of fireworks flashing by. However, he still couldn't believe that the fireworks had really flashed for him.
Lin Qinhe lowered his eyes, his gaze fell on the two red lips that he had kissed, he gently rubbed the delicate skin at the corners of the lips with his fingers, and said slowly:
"What I mean is, I like you, I want to treat you well, and I want to spend a wonderful life with you. Not just college, but from now until a long time in the future, you must be by my side and you are not allowed to go anywhere."
Tao Xi seemed to have heard it clearly, but also seemed not to have heard it clearly. However, he could clearly hear his own heartbeat becoming increasingly intense. He opened his eyes wide and looked at Lin Qinhe. He finally saw this person clearly, but seemed to have fallen into a dream of rosy twilight again.
He was worried that he would wake up from the dream in an instant, but he heard Lin Qinhe continue to speak in a serious and determined tone:
"Tao Xi, I don't know what you've been through or what you've been missing, but from now on, I will be the person in the world who loves you the most. I will give you everything you want. You don't have to pretend to be good. You can be as willful as you want in front of me. I will like all your willfulness."
Tao Xi's vision suddenly became blurred again, his eyes were sore and he almost shed tears. His heart felt like it was being held tightly in the palm of a pair of warm hands.
He grew up to the age of sixteen and never knew what it felt like to be favored.
But when he was sixteen years old, Lin Qinhe said that he would be the person who loved him the most in the world.
Tao Xi tried hard to hold back the sourness in his nose and locked his tears in his eyes. He heard Lin Qinhe ask him softly:
"So do you still hate Lin Qinhe now?"
Tao Xi suddenly blinked away the tears that were almost full in his eyes, but the roaring sound in his heart, like the collapse of mountains and seas, could no longer be contained. He looked at Lin Qinhe with his clear eyes, took a deep breath, and said earnestly and sincerely while biting his lips:
"I like Lin Qinhe. I only like Lin Qinhe. I like Lin Qinhe the most. I like Lin Qinhe more than I like myself. I am a Lin Qinhe supremacist!"
He spoke out those sentences written in the love letter, the sweet words that made his cheeks burn at the sight of them, without any embarrassment, repeating the three words "Lin Qinhe" over and over again, as if he wanted to carve these three words in the most conspicuous place in the world.
Tao Xi's chest was still heaving violently, and his gaze at Lin Qinhe was as hot as the setting sun outside the window. It suddenly broke free from the tangled purple mist and gray haze, and rolled violently on the horizon like a burning wheel of fire, determined to burn the last bit of red light to ashes.
All the gray mist in the sky was burned into red-gold clouds, burning into the empty concert hall through the long windows, and also burning into Lin Qinhe's eyes, which were always indifferent. He looked at the young man in front of him with moist eyes in silence, as if suppressing some emotions that were about to be uncontrollable. Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed the back of his neck tightly, then lowered his head and kissed him again.
But this time the kiss was more urgent, intense, and desperate, as if it wanted to burn away all the passion and love.
