Chapter 17 Self-Study

Chapter 17 Self-Study

The two parted ways downstairs of the teaching building, and Jiang Zhao returned to the classroom.

There was still more than an hour before evening self-study. Jiang Zhao thought there would be no one in the classroom, but when he returned, he saw Jiang Shengnan concentrating on studying.

Seeing Jiang Zhao come in, Jiang Shengnan asked, "Mr. Jiang, can I ask you a question?"

"OK."

Jiang Shengnan was writing a mock test paper, which Jiang Zhao had never done before.

Jiang Zhao put down the book in his arms, picked up the test paper and looked through the questions. He did not tell Jiang Shengnan the answer directly, but only reminded her that this question required a classified discussion of the cases where X was less than 2 and greater than or equal to 2.

Jiang Shengnan took the question and wrote and drew on the draft paper, and suddenly she understood.

She turned her head and looked at Jiang Zhao with a bit of sourness.

She also saw that what Jiang Zhao was holding in his arms was the real test questions for the competition.

I remembered what we talked about in the group that day about the math competition training.

Jiang Shengnan shook her head, trying to get rid of all those thoughts.

Jiang Zhao naturally didn't notice. She packed some of her newly bought books into the locker at the back, unpacked one, and began to study the competition questions.

When the evening study bell rang, she had already done more than ten pages.

Jiang Zhao was concentrating on his work until he heard some movement around him.

Luo Yan pulled out a chair and put down his schoolbag.

"Huh?" Jiang Zhao asked in surprise, "You're going to evening study?"

Luo Yan nodded: "Prepare for the competition."

Jiang Zhao stood up and took out the trophies he had just swept from the mountain of books today from the locker behind him, and slapped them on the table: "I just bought this, how do you like it?"

Luo Yan took a look at the "Excellent Coursebook", "Tutorial Manual", "Olympic Mathematics"... It seemed like he had bought all the competition books in the bookstore.

He pulled out a book: "This one is too easy for you."

"You did?"

"Well, I did some of it in junior high school."

“So scary.”

Luo Yan looked at her helplessly: "The person who solved the difficult problem in last year's provincial competition said this?"

Jiang Zhao smiled: "Our goal is to win the gold medal in the national competition."

Luo Yan pursed his lips and said nothing.

Halfway through evening self-study, Chen Bailing held up her math homework and said, "Zhao Zhao, explain the homework to me."

The math homework consisted of three papers. Jiang Zhao took a look and saw that several of the major questions on each paper were left blank. "Which one?"

Chen Bailing: "Every empty one..."

Jiang Zhao: “…”

"Let me tell you." Xiang Xingzhi said.

Chen Bailing turned around, thinking she had misheard: "What?"

Xiang Xingzhi pursed his lips and said, "I've finished writing. Let's go to the next classroom and I'll explain it to you."

Chen Bailing looked at Jiang Zhao in shock, then at Xiang Xingzhi.

Xiang Xingzhi had already stood up from his seat and urged, "Let's go, what are you waiting for?"

Chen Bailing walked out of the classroom with his eyes wide open, his expression as determined as if he was going to the execution ground.

The two of them were out for over an hour. When the bell rang for the break, Chen Bailing returned to the classroom. She grabbed Jiang Zhao with both hands and said, "Come with me to the supermarket!"

"Okay, okay." Jiang Zhao asked, "Where's Xiang Xingzhi?"

"Don't mention him, let's go." Chen Bailing complained.

Jiang Zhao was dragged away by Chen Bailing, and Lin Chongyang shouted, "Class representative, bring me a bottle of Coke."

"Where's the card?"

Lin Chongyang spread his hands and said, "Top up the money tomorrow and help me out."

Chen Bailing said first: "Go away."

Jiang Zhao recalled the words in the group chat: "Your parents really don't give you food?"

Lin Chongyang shouted to Jiang Zhao without any psychological burden: "Mom, please treat me."

Jiang Zhao had nothing to say.

No wonder Chen Huaiyu and Pei Zhiyu always like to make fun of Lin Chongyang.

I really owe you a lot.

Luo Yan was packing his schoolbag. He looked up at Lin Chongyang and said, "Why don't you beg me? I can lend you the card for tomorrow morning."

Lin Chongyang thought about it and realized that he couldn’t charge his meal card in the morning, but it wasn’t impossible: “Dad.”

Lin Chongyang shouted happily.

Jiang Zhao blushed.

Luo Yan took out his meal card and gave it to Jiang Zhao: "You can use my card. You two can buy whatever you want."

Chen Bailing was quite happy: "Thank you, boss."

The boy’s ID photo was printed on the gray-white meal card.

In the photo, the boy only slightly raised the corners of his lips, his expression was very faint, and the smile did not reach his eyes, as if he was forced by the photographer.

The two turned around and were about to leave when Luo Yan suddenly said, "See you tomorrow."

Jiang Zhao smiled and waved: "See you tomorrow."

Although it was a break between evening self-study classes, the two key classes were still very quiet. Few people were chatting in the corridor on the third floor. Only those who went to get water to go to the toilet, or to ask questions to the teacher on duty, were in a hurry.

It was much more lively downstairs, with many people gathering in the open space between floors, and some even playing badminton in the light from the corridor of the teaching building.

After going downstairs, Jiang Zhaocai asked, "How did Xiang Xingzhi offend you?"

Chen Bailing crossed his arms and chuckled, "You didn't provoke me, and you even finished explaining the problem to me."

It doesn't look like he hasn't been offended.

Chen Bailing pretended for a moment, but couldn't help but complain: "He said I was stupid."

"Didn't Lin Chongyang always say that to you, and you weren't angry?"

"Hey, you don't understand." Chen Bailing waved her hand. "The squad leader is the type who will ask you, 'How come you can't do this? How come you are so stupid?' and mock you."

Chen Bailing imitated Lin Chongyang's annoying tone very well. She continued angrily, "Xiang Xingzhi may not say anything, but the look in his eyes is like he's seen a pig."

Jiang Zhao was amused by her: "Then you'd better ask me next time."

"Indeed, men are unreliable." Chen Bailing tilted her head and leaned on Jiang Zhao's shoulder, rubbing it twice: "Hey, Zhao Zhao, it would be better if you were a boy."

Chen Bailing was only slightly shorter than Jiang Zhao, and she could just lean on her shoulder. Jiang Zhao could even smell the fragrance from Chen Bailing's hair. If both of them didn't have long hair tied in ponytails, they would look like a couple in premature love.

Jiang Zhao put his arm around Chen Bailing's shoulders: "Like this?"

A man and a woman walked towards me.

Neither of them was wearing school uniforms. The boy was hugging the girl, and the girl was leaning on the boy's arms, exactly the same posture they were in now.

Chen Bailing stood up suddenly.

The two sides passed each other.

Chen Bailing looked back and asked, "Why is the girl that the smoking guy is hugging always looking at us?"

"Smoking brother?"

Chen Bailing: "Yeah, that idiot who was smoking in the stairwell that day."

Jiang Zhao admired him and said, "You still remember what he looks like even though he's so dark?"

"His slanted eyes and thin lips are still very obvious." Chen Bailing said proudly, "I'm very good at remembering faces."

Slanted eyes... Jiang Zhao really couldn't imagine what slanted eyes looked like, not to mention that the stairwell was pitch black and he would remember the appearance at a glance.

"So, why does that girl keep following us?"

Jiang Zhao had no idea. She didn't even pay attention to what the girl Chen Bailing was talking about looked like.

Moreover, the girls didn't say hello to them, so they might not even know each other.

"I didn't notice." Jiang Zhao thought for a moment and said seriously, "Maybe it's because you're pretty."

"Don't give me that." Chen Bailing pinched Jiang Zhao's face.

Jiang Zhao's face was very soft and smooth to the touch. Chen Bailing was addicted to pinching it and rubbed it twice more: "I think you look better."

Jiang Zhao grabbed her hand and said, "No commercial boasting!"
