Chapter 30 Successful Exam
Saturday morning.
Jiang Zhao left home and walked out of the community. Her cell phone rang and she opened WeChat.
Luo Yan: Where have you been?
Jiang Zhao smiled and said: I just went out, are you here?
Luo Yan: Yeah
When I turned the corner, I saw Luo Yan standing at the school gate, looking down at his phone.
The spot of light filtered through the branches of the sycamore tree fell right between his eyebrows, and his half-closed peach blossom eyes were filled with amber ripples.
He didn't wear school uniform today, but a dark blue denim jacket and black pants.
Jiang Zhao wore a short denim jacket and a black miniskirt today.
Jiang Zhao's heart leaped with joy, and he quickened his pace and ran over.
She patted Luo Yan's left shoulder, and when the boy turned his head, she appeared from the right: "Good morning, classmate!"
Girls are always full of energy.
Luo Yan smiled: "Good morning."
"Why are you waiting here?"
Today is Saturday and the back gate of the school is closed, so she has to go around to the front gate to catch a bus. Jiang Zhao originally thought that Luo Yan would be waiting for her at the front gate.
"I thought the back door would be open." Luo Yan raised his hand and touched his nose unnaturally: "The nearest bus to school will leave soon. I just called a car."
"Oh, am I up late?"
"It's not too late." Luo Yan asked, "Did you bring your admission ticket?"
Jiang Zhao patted his canvas bag and saw that Luo Yan was empty-handed: "Did you bring it?"
Luo Yan took out a pen and a piece of paper from his coat pocket and showed it to her: "I brought it."
At this time, a white car stopped nearby. Luo Yan glanced at the license plate and said, "We're here."
He opened the car door and Jiang Zhao naturally got in first.
Luo Yan got into the car and closed the door.
The driver was a talkative middle-aged man. As soon as the two of them got in the car and checked their phone numbers and destinations, he asked, "Classmates, are you from Mingyuan No. 1 Middle School?"
"Yes." Jiang Zhao said.
"What grade?"
Jiang Zhao: "First year of high school."
The driver continued to ask: "Which class are you from?"
Jiang Zhao didn't say anything, and the driver hurriedly explained, "My son also studies at your school. I just dropped him off when I received this order. He's also in the first year of high school, in Class 9."
"Oh." Jiang Zhao said, "We are both in the same class."
"Oh, I heard from my son that Class 1 is a key class, right? Don't you have classes today?"
Jiang Zhao: "We have a math competition today."
Moreover, their school does not have make-up classes on Saturdays during the first year of high school.
But before Jiang Zhao could finish, the driver said cheerfully, "Then you must have studied well and can participate in the competition. Oh, my son is not like that. In the last joint exam, he only ranked around 300th. I heard that you have to be in the top 100 to get into the key class. Oh, my god, I'm so worried..."
The driver kept talking, and Jiang Zhao smiled helplessly. She turned to look at Luo Yan, who pursed his lips and said nothing.
Luo Yan felt a little regretful. It was inevitable that he would meet classmates on the bus, and he didn't want to be disturbed.
He just doesn't use the taxi app much, and he's wondering why it doesn't have options for ride preferences, like not wanting drivers to talk too much...
Just as he was about to speak, he felt someone fiddling with the little finger of his left hand, which was hanging on the seat.
His gaze fell on Jiang Zhao's face. She looked straight ahead and replied to the driver in a normal tone, "That's good too. Besides, you're only in the first year of high school, so there's no need to be too anxious."
As she spoke, her nails scratched lightly along the sides of his fingers, causing a slight itch.
If she hadn't been able to suppress the smile on her face, one would have thought she had bumped into him unintentionally.
The driver complained, "He scored over 200 on the exam right after the semester started. He's dropped so much in just one month. He only got over 90 on math, and last time he only got over 60. He said only one classmate got a perfect score, and the average score was only over 70. Was it really that difficult? How did you guys do on the exam?"
Jiang Zhao smiled and said frankly, "I am first and he is second."
Noticing Luo Yan looking at her, Jiang Zhao stuck out her tongue, as if to say: He didn't ask about which exam.
The driver suddenly became excited. "So amazing? Then can you two add me and give me your contact information? I want my son to learn from you. Do you have any tips on how to learn..."
"No." Luo Yan pressed his fingers on Jiang Zhao's restless fingertips.
The driver finally realized he had offended him and said quickly, "I'm sorry, you get worried when I talk about him studying."
Jiang Zhao raised his fingertips slightly: "You can ask the teacher. I'm sure I can't explain it as well as the teacher, and no teacher understands him. If that doesn't work, you can ask him to come to the class during self-study and ask me."
"Okay, okay." The driver was very satisfied. "Oh, girl, you are such a good classmate. You are a good student and a good person. You are also beautiful. Thank you, uncle."
Jiang Zhao smiled and said nothing.
The driver was driving when he suddenly asked out of nowhere, "Are you two in a relationship?"
"ah?"
Perhaps the driver misunderstood something about their clothes. Jiang Zhao turned her head and saw Luo Yan looking at her with a bit of teasing. She glared at him without giving in.
Jiang Zhao made up his mind and looked up and said, "Yes, we are in a premature love relationship."
After saying that, she looked at Luo Yan. As expected, he was stunned, and then his ears turned pink at a speed visible to the naked eye, and even his hands curled up unnaturally.
The driver was completely oblivious: "Don't worry, I'm not a conservative person. I won't tell your teacher. As long as it doesn't affect your studies, it's okay."
Jiang Zhao was just about to explain that he was just joking when he heard Luo Yan say, "I think so too."
Now it was Jiang Zhao's turn to be stunned.
Fortunately, the elementary school was not far from the school, so the embarrassment did not last long and the car stopped.
The two got out of the car, and the driver waved reluctantly: "Thank you, little girl."
Jiang Zhao felt her face flush as she recalled her previous argument. She sighed exaggeratedly and changed the subject: "Now I know why we ran away from the parent-teacher conference."
She rolled the tip of her shoe over a small stone on the ground and asked, "Do you want to buy some water?"
"good."
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Luo Yan noticed her embarrassment and said, "I was just...joking."
Jiang Zhao licked his lips: "Me too, who told you to look at me like that?"
Luo Yan smiled and said, "Are you in the same examination room?"
"Um, an exam room?"
Luo Yan nodded: "Then please keep my phone for me."
Jiang Zhao agreed.
Luo Yan took out his cell phone and remembered that he had not confirmed the fare yet. He opened the app but paused.
"What's the matter?"
"He returned the money." Luo Yan handed the phone to Jiang Zhao.
Jiang Zhao took it and took a look. On the screen, the refund note read: Good luck on the exam.
