Chapter 9: Not Hard, But Hard Life
The first class on Monday is Chinese, and the results are not out yet.
The math class next door, Class 2, had probably just handed out their papers. You could hear the screams of Class 2 through the wall, and the people in Class 1 were really scared.
In the second class, Brother Xiong finally appeared in the classroom amid the expectant gazes of the entire class.
She came in holding the test paper and said simply: "Talk about the test paper."
Lin Chongyang couldn't help but ask: "Teacher, did anyone get full marks?"
Wang Guoxiong nodded, looked around, and said, "I didn't expect that someone in our class could score 150 in math this time. That's great."
"I'll call out the name and come up to receive it. Chen Bailing, 91."
Guoxiong was caught off guard when his grades were read out, and the class screamed in fear that their embarrassing scores would be read out and they would be embarrassed.
Wang Guoxiong hissed, "Alright, I'll just give you a score above 90 to save some face."
When Chen Bailing went up, Wang Guoxiong encouraged her, "That's good."
Chen Bailing returned to his seat and patted his chest in relief: "I actually passed!"
"Lin Chongyang, 142."
Lin Chongyang originally thought that he had only gotten the third question of the first question wrong, but he didn't expect that he had also gotten a fill-in-the-blank question wrong.
It was still very basic, and he omitted the minus sign when writing the answer.
"Jiang Shengnan, 130"
Jiang Shengnan took the test paper and walked down quickly.
"Yang Ziwen, 140."
Yang Ziwen is Lin Chongyang's deskmate. He is fat and was admitted to Mingyuan from a school in another city.
"Xiang Xingzhi, 126."
…
Wang Guoxiong called out the names of several people in a row, but none of them reached 150.
Now we have started to use the method of elimination to discuss which immortal can escape from Brother Xiong’s Five Finger Mountain.
"Luo Yan, 147, second in grade."
Luo Yan was the predicted favorite, but he didn't even get full marks.
But 147 is also very high, and the whole class exclaimed in surprise.
Luo Yan himself was very calm. After he got the test paper, he saw Jiang Zhao clapping slightly.
While Wang Guoxiong was reading out his grades, Jiang Zhao was buried in her tutoring books, as if she was certain that she would not read out her name.
Wang Guoxiong whetted everyone's appetite: "Now there are only those who failed and those who got full marks. If anyone thinks they got full marks, please come up."
Jiang Zhao was originally applauding Luo Yan, but when he heard Wang Guoxiong's words, he sighed.
How come she doesn’t remember that Brother Xiong used to have so many tricks?
After the test, everyone may not be sure whether they can pass, but based on the large blank areas on the test paper, they will have a rough idea whether they can get full marks.
So for a moment, the classroom was silent.
Jiang Zhao hesitated for a moment and stood up.
The chair made a creaking sound, and in an instant, everyone's eyes fell on Jiang Zhao.
Wang Guoxiong corrected the papers in the first examination room first. Luo Yan's paper was the first one. The difficulty of this set of questions was extremely high. Wang Guoxiong was already satisfied if someone could score 147. He didn't expect that when he went to the second examination room, there was still someone who scored 150.
She immediately checked the test number and found that the first paper in the second examination room was written by her class representative.
Wang Guoxiong had spotted Jiang Zhao, a math prodigy, right at the start of the school year and was in high spirits. "Come up, class representative, 150 points."
She handed the remaining papers to Jiang Zhao and said, "Distribute the remaining papers."
"Our class ranked first and second in math this time, but there were only eighteen students in our class who scored above 90, and twenty-one in Class 2."
The gap in math scores alone is terrifying, but Wang Guoxiong wants this differentiation. If he doesn't let them experience the power of high school math, how can they value math in the future? He's torturing the students and satisfying himself.
She assigned Jiang Zhao a task: "I won't teach you about question 17. This was the last question in last year's competition. If you're interested in the competition, go ask your class representative after class."
As soon as he returned to his seat, he was stared at again. Jiang Zhao could only smile in response.
Wang Guoxiong's appearance is actually very inconsistent with her name.
She has a gentle appearance and when she doesn't speak, she looks like a Jiangnan woman in a book.
Being able to speak with full energy and act like a loudspeaker is a very valuable and necessary skill for math teachers, and it effectively prevents students from falling asleep in class.
"This question is only worth three points. I don't know how many of you didn't finish the test just to get those three points."
"Through this exam, I want to tell you that when you encounter a difficult question, don't let it affect your mentality! Okay, now let's look at the first multiple-choice question. If you get the first one wrong, slap yourself first..."
As soon as the morning exercises were over, Jiang Zhao's position was surrounded. Even people from Class 2 came over and said that Brother Xiong said that if you have any questions about question 17, you should come to Jiang Zhao from Class 1.
Jiang Zhao successfully became famous with the help of Brother Xiong.
The break time was really short, and Jiang Zhao was so exhausted from talking that he didn't finish the first two questions until the bell rang.
The good students around him dispersed, and Jiang Zhao knocked his head on the table.
Luo Yan helped her get some water.
Jiang Zhao turned his head and said, "Thank you, deskmate."
"Thank you for your hard work, Teacher Jiang." Luo Yan joked.
"It's not hard, but working for Xiong is hard."
The students in their class really love learning. Even though Brother Xiong said that the questions were beyond the syllabus, they still wanted to get to the bottom of them.
The third period was physics. Kong Yi didn't read out the results first. He just randomly gave the papers to a few students in the front row and said indifferently, "Give it out."
"The physics test wasn't difficult. Seven people in our class got full marks. Those of you who are called upon, please stand up."
"Luo Yan."
"Lin Chongyang."
"Jiang Zhao."
…
Kong Yi finished ordering first and asked them to sit down. He then said, "I heard from Teacher Wang that a classmate in your class got a perfect score on math. Which classmate would you like to stand up so I can see?"
As soon as Jiang Zhao's butt touched the stool, he stood up again.
Kong Yixian often saw Jiang Zhao in the office: "Classmate Jiang Zhao, you are really as good as men. The boys should work hard."
As soon as the get out of class was over, Jiang Zhao was surrounded again.
She surrendered: "I'm going to the bathroom. If you have any questions, I'll come back after lunch."
When Jiang Zhao came back from the cafeteria at noon, five or six people had already gathered at the classroom door.
Lin Chongyang saw her running over and said, "Let me introduce you to our class math representative, Jiang Zhao."
He pointed at several people in Class 2: "Chen Huaiyu, the younger brother of Chen Huaijin from our class; Su Chen, and..." He pointed at the boy in the middle: "Pei Zhiyu."
Su Chen greeted Jiang Zhao with a smile.
Su Chen is thin and small, with a fair face under his side bangs. The long sleeves of his school uniform only reveal his fingers, which are folded in front of him, making him look very obedient.
Pei Zhiyu wore a pair of slightly thick half-frame glasses, had a crew cut, thick eyebrows and big eyes, and had a face that looked like a natural science genius.
Chen Huaiyu next to him was very tall, with messy hair and a loose school uniform. He stood there in a nonchalant manner, completely opposite to Pei Zhiyu.
Lin Chongyang said, "It's lunchtime soon, let's go next door."
There are four classrooms on the first floor of the teaching building, and there are only two classes on the third floor, Class 1 and Class 2. The remaining two classrooms are empty, which are usually used as study rooms.
"Okay, I'll take the paper." Jiang Zhao said.
Lin Chongyang: "Call Brother Yang."
Jiang Zhao returned to the classroom and didn't see Luo Yan.
She called Yang Ziwen and when she passed by Jiang Shengnan, she remembered that Jiang Shengnan had been asking her questions that morning, so she asked, "Shengnan, let's go to the next classroom to discuss the math test. Do you want to come?"
Jiang Shengnan raised her head from her tutorial book: "Come, come."
