Chapter 16

Since that day, Lin Xie never came again. At first, Shen was still worried and tossed and turned every night, but later, when she saw that he didn't show up for a long time, she couldn't help but feel a little lucky.

The assassins kept their identities secret and always took on tough jobs, and every time they went out, they would face a high risk of death.

What if he died in an accident someday...

It was the first time in his life that Shen wished someone a short life.

Unfortunately, things went against his wishes. That night, the person he least wanted to see showed up.

When Lin Xie arrived, Chen was sitting beside a few low candles making a small padded jacket for the child. He was always frugal, and would patch up his clothes and quilts when they were torn and reuse them.

But mending is different from making a whole piece of clothing. You will realize it when you start doing it. It takes both time and effort. Shen found time to work on it for several days before this padded jacket took shape.

Lin Xie didn't say anything either, just leaned against the window and watched him quietly.

Maybe it was because his gaze was too scorching, but after standing there for a while, the man in the room looked out. Their eyes met, and Shen's hand trembled, and the silver needle accidentally pierced his finger.

A drop of blood seeped out, but Chen didn't bother to wipe it off. He hurriedly dropped the almost finished jacket and ran over to close the window.

Just as the small window was closed, someone from outside pushed the door bolt with something, and it fell to the ground with a "click". Then a figure flashed in. The man was wearing a dark green round-necked shirt, and there was a chill in his sleeves.

In the dim candlelight, he looked at Chen Que, his eyebrows curved, and said frivolously: "Knowing that I would come at any time, why did you lock the door?"

Chen Que leaned against the window that had just been closed, lowered his head and thought for a while, then raised his hand with difficulty to gesture: "Let me go, except for the things that are not good for His Highness, and those things... I will do whatever you want."

Lin Xie leaned forward slightly and picked up the jacket that he had just thrown on the table. It was made of plain silk with neat stitching and delicate embroidery. "You can make clothes?"

He deliberately ignored his sign language, tilted his head to see him still standing there, and then laughed again: "You were standing in the dark, I couldn't even see your face clearly, let alone the movements of your hands, did you think I was a night owl?"

Shen Que then slowly moved over, his front body immersed in the candlelight. He was about to raise his hand again, but Lin Xie suddenly grabbed his palm and interlaced their fingers.

He smiled and imitated his expression just now: "Those things...what are they about? I don't understand, tell me about it."

Chen Que's face immediately turned red, and he glared at the man angrily and anxiously. Normally, he was a person who never got angry at all, but when he met Lin Xie, a fire of rage rose in his heart, almost burning him through.

He clearly saw everything and understood what he meant, but she deliberately lied to him that it was too dark to see clearly and called him over just to get closer and humiliate him.

Lin Xie looked at him with a smile.

The eyes staring at him were as black as ink, which reminded Lin Xie of the black grapes growing on bamboo vines in summer, and the cotton-ball-like beast in the residence of Master Man. Even when it was staring at people, it only had a hint of ferocity and could not scare anyone.

Lin Xie couldn't help but reach out his hand to check his eyebrows, but Chen immediately closed half of his eyes. The former smiled and rubbed his eyelashes with his thumb.

"If you keep glaring at me," Lin Xie suddenly said, "I'm going to get hard."

Shen, however, seemed to be greatly frightened. He struggled to pull his hand out, then retreated a few steps in panic, with a bitter face and signed: "I am a man just like you!"

"So what?" Lin Xie followed step by step, "I only love Yu Tao, not Ruan Yu. Besides, there is no man like you in the world. How can a man have two penises..."

Shen was almost going crazy. He rushed forward like a bull and butted his head against his heart. He didn't dare to listen to him anymore. This madman was talking nonsense!

Lin Xie didn't expect him to suddenly rush up, and he didn't expect him to butt him with his head. He leaned to the side but didn't avoid it completely, and was hit hard in the side.

The abdomen is the softest place, and Lin Xie almost couldn't catch his breath. After the pain, Lin Xie's face finally sank.

He grabbed Shen Que's thin coat with one hand, and pinched his Adam's apple with the other hand, pushing him against the bed frame. This pinch was not meant to kill him, Shen Que was still able to breathe, but he felt humiliated.

The wooden bed shook uncontrollably, and the gauze curtains hanging on the bed frame swayed with it.

"Vile thing!" Shen heard him curse.

He raised his head slightly, unable to stop feeling nervous, fearing that the little servant who lived in the back room would hear the noise in the room.

Shen, however, resisted the discomfort of being strangled by someone, and hurriedly reminded him: "There are people living in the back room! If someone hears..."

“So what if someone hears me?” Lin Xie sneered, “I’m all alone, and I might die in this business someday. It’s not a loss to drag you down with me to hell.”

Chen only felt that the strength between his fingers was getting tighter and tighter, forcing him to breathe in less and out more. Seeing his face getting redder and redder, Lin Xie did not show any mercy.

"My requirements for you are not high," Lin Xie said calmly, "only three: first, don't hit me again; second, you must answer whatever I ask, and you are not allowed to be disrespectful; third, you must do whatever I ask you to do, and you are not allowed to say no."

He pressed his legs and gently stroked his chin with his fingertips: "If you make me unhappy, I will expose your affairs to the public and ask them to take off your pants so that everyone in this mansion can see your mutilated body!"

He said such cruel words so nonchalantly, with a look of frivolity and cruelty that made people believe that he would definitely keep his word.

Lin Xie is definitely not a good person, begging for mercy or resisting is useless.

"You don't have to stare at me like that." Lin Xie slowly loosened his hand and watched Chen Que slide down to his knees with his back against the bed frame, lying on the ground in a mess, gasping for breath.

He was very tall, standing up straight, he was half a head taller than Shen Que. In the candlelight, he lowered his eyes, his pupils reflected orange-gold light, looking down at Shen Que's hair whorls, "You have a secret that cannot be seen in the light, and I am a soldier who cannot be seen in the light. Besides, I am a romantic and suave man, which is more than enough for you."

Shen gradually recovered, but still kept his head down.

The two had only met three times, but his face had been deeply imprinted in Shen Que's mind. As long as he recalled the slightest bit of it, Shen Que would feel deep hatred and pain.

After hearing Lin Xie's words, he could not think of anything else but that this man was so shameless. He was clearly plain-looking and not handsome at all. How dare he say that he was suave?

In Shen Que's opinion, he was not even one-tenth as handsome as the prince, nor one-thousandth as romantic as him.

No, he is not worthy to be compared with his Highness!

"Okay," Lin Xie was relieved and in a good mood. He bent down and helped him up from the ground. "The ground is so cold and you are wearing so little. If you catch a cold, I will be very sad."

He seemed like a different person. She helped him to the edge of the bed and asked him to sit down.

The red marks from his pinching on his neck had not yet faded, his threatening words were still ringing in his ears, and sweat was still running down his spine. He didn't dare to sit down, and stood there like a piece of wood, motionless.

"My words were harsh just now," Lin Xie said softly, but he didn't sound like he was trying to coax anyone, "You don't have to take it too seriously."

Shen, however, got goose bumps for no apparent reason, thinking, what a lunatic.

Lin Xie smiled and lay down on the bed, with most of his legs exposed outside the bed, and said arrogantly: "I'm tired, take off my boots for me."

Shen was stunned for a moment, but remembering his threat just now, he had to step forward reluctantly and help him take off his boots.

Lin Xie leaned on his square pillow, and glanced at the small jacket that fell on the ground. He seemed to have thought of something, so he asked him again: "Who is this dress made for?"

Shen didn't dare not answer, so he raised his hand and gestured: "Little slave Yuanzhi."

The names given by the opera troupe were all common names. For a minor official like that little slave who had no master, the adults usually called him "Dog Egg" casually. But when Chen asked about it, the boy just said that Sixian usually called him Dingxiang'er.

Shen frowned. Such a boy had such a feminine name. He wanted to give him a new name, but unfortunately he was illiterate and could not read poetry. He racked his brains before coming up with "Yuanzhi".

"You really are raising him as your son," Lin Xie commented coldly, "He's only seven or eight years old, and he came from a lowly family of actors. I'm afraid he's already been infected with their habits. What kind of person can he be?"

Shen Que's heart sank. This person was so familiar with Yuan Zhi's background, he was probably monitoring him day and night.

How could he still be so foolish as to hope that he might never come to see him again?

Suddenly, Lin Xie patted the spot next to him and ordered him, "Come up."

Shen didn't move.

"It's not good for me to occupy your bed alone," Lin Xie smiled, "You forgot that I am a very good and kind person. I would be angry if I saw you standing there."

As for what would happen if he got angry, Lin Xie didn't say anything, but Chen had no choice but to take off his shoes and socks and sit next to him.

"Lie down." Lin Xie said again.

Chen took a deep breath and then lay down obediently. He curled up his body and lay with his back to Lin Xie, his whole body full of defensiveness.

Lin Xie seemed still unsatisfied. He turned over slightly and put his arm around his waist: "Why aren't you facing me?"

However, Chen refused to move. Lin Xie did not embarrass him any more. Even a rabbit will jump over the wall when it is forced into a corner. The night was long and tomorrow was a day off, so he was not in a hurry.

But the hand that was covering Shen Que's waist was not very obedient. It slithered across his waist like a snake and got into the thin outer shirt.

Just like what I saw that night, Shen Que had almost no fat on his body, just a thin layer of texture, which was not hard and felt soft.

Chen Quede's ears turned red. He reached down to grab his restless hands and moved to the side with great resistance.

Lin Xie exerted force on his hands and pulled him back, hugged him in his arms, buried his head in his neck, sniffed, and asked him in a low voice: "What kind of fragrance is on your clothes?"

However, Shen Luo was stunned by his question. He almost never burned incense or applied scented oil. Even the sachet around his waist was bought by Shen Luo because he thought he was too simple.

He was indeed different from other men. Even when practicing in the summer, he sweated very little, and he did not have the peculiar smell that other men had.

"Like musk," Lin Xie sniffed again, and then said, "With a hint of medicine."

His sense of smell was indeed very keen, but because of the two long nails hammered into his shoulder bones in prison, he always felt a stabbing pain in the wound whenever it snowed at night. The pain was not fatal, but it was still unbearable to suffer such torment at night.

When Eleven heard about it, he went outside and bought him some medicine to dispel dampness and cold. After it warmed his body, the pain was less severe.

Lin Xie seemed to like this smell very much. His breath brushed against the back of his neck, making half of his body itchy.

Before he took the next step, Shen naively thought that he would stop there.

He thought that he had an unremarkable face and was taller than ordinary people, but he was not outstanding. He was not good at literature and science, and was not good at playing chess and music. What's more, he was a mute and had such an ugly body.

In his heart, no matter what others covet from him, they should not covet his body.

But the person hugging him from behind seemed to be really unpicky. Shen only heard his breathing gradually becoming heavier, and then it seemed like something... touched him.
