Chapter 11 In complete darkness

"Unpleasant to hear? Did you get permission before making this decision? Is the rabbit yours?"

Mo Yunmei didn't think she had done anything wrong at all. "This is a good thing, why does everyone need to agree?"

"Then you should pack your things and come along too." Mo Qinghe's face turned cold, unwilling to argue with Mo Yunmei. "This is a good thing, you don't need to tell your parents, they'll definitely agree!"

Mo Yunmei wanted to argue, but when she met Mo Qinghe's cold and sharp eyes, her throat seemed to be squeezed, and she couldn't make a sound. In the end, she fled in a sorry state.

I don't know how she told Chen Qiuxia when she went out, but not long after, she came back and went straight into the house.

There was nothing for dinner, so Su Nanxi washed some fruit for Mo Qinghe and then went to feed the chickens and water the vegetables. As expected, she added spiritual spring water again.

The next day, Zhao was overjoyed to see more eggs. She told everyone that she had fed the chickens well and that they were now laying eggs non-stop.

Su Nanxi let Zhao talk, thinking about her trip to town later. She usually automatically ignored what she didn't want to hear.

Early in the morning, she washed the leftover fruit from yesterday, brought a bowl of water, and made arrangements for Mo Qinghe.

When it was time to go out, Mo Yunmei stopped her, insisting on going with her, even if it meant not buying clothes, just to see the excitement.

After a series of unreasonable arguments, time was wasted, and it was already broad daylight.

Su Nanxi realized that Mo Yunmei didn't want her to go to town, so she simply decided not to go, thinking there would be plenty of opportunities in the future.

Grandma Mo asked guiltily, "Mute girl, is there anything you want to buy?"

Su Nanxi thought about it and realized there really was one. She ran over, took Mo Qinghe's hand, and started drawing.

Mo Qinghe felt as if a feather had brushed against his palm, and his heart trembled slightly, making it difficult for him to breathe. As for what was drawn on his hand, he had no idea.

Su Nanxi thought she had written too fast, and Mo Qinghe didn't understand, so she wrote it again.

"Do you want noodles?"

Mo Qinghe suppressed his emotions and tried hard to decipher the words on his palm.

Seeing that he understood, Su Nanxi's eyes lit up and she nodded vigorously.

After listening to this, Grandma Mo thought about it for a moment and then agreed. Flour was a little cheaper than rice. "I know you may not be used to eating coarse grains yet. Flour isn't very expensive, but you've seen our family's situation. We can't keep eating white flour. How about we buy a pound or two first?"

Su Nanxi nodded. It was fine as long as she had the goods. She needed to conceal it a bit and take out the flour from her spatial storage to use.

It's not good to skip breakfast every day, and it's also inconvenient for her to eat in her private space every day. If it goes on for too long, people will become suspicious and find out. It's better to make it public.

She's not good at making food, but she's quite talented at making steamed buns and other wheat-based products. Ultimately, it's because she loves to eat them, so she's put a lot of thought into it.

Grandma Mo and the three of them went out, and Mo Yunmei gave Su Nanxi a provocative look.

childish!

Su Nanxi ignored him, slung her basket over her shoulder, and followed him out.

When they arrived in the mountains, they saw many people setting traps, including Su Nanxi's simplified version of the trap.

Sigh! What can she say? This really is a trap!

She didn't plan to release anything today. She set up a trap as a formality, and then wandered around the woods to familiarize herself with the terrain and environment.

Unsurprisingly, they caught nothing today, and by noon, the Mo family returned home unwillingly.

Mo Qinghe was worried when he saw that the person was coming back so late, and he was relieved when he saw the person coming back chattering away.

It's okay if you didn't catch any wild animals, as long as you come back safely!

Mo Yunmei, however, didn't see it that way. She returned in a huff. Wasn't she good at setting traps? Wasn't she always able to catch wild animals? Why couldn't she do it today? She couldn't do anything right! She was counting on helping Sister Qiuxia catch two little rabbits!

Back in the courtyard, she still wouldn't stop talking, belittling Su Nanxi as nothing.

Mo Qinghe gave her a cold look, and Mo Yunmei fell silent. Then she started hiccuping incessantly, unable to speak.

Su Nanxi laughed unkindly.

The group that went to town returned. Old Mrs. Mo brought back a piece of light blue cloth and gave it to Qin Shi, asking her to help sew clothes, as she was old and her eyesight was not very good at seeing needle and thread.

Qin was pleased and, after taking the cloth, pulled Su Nanxi into the house to have her measurements taken.

Su Nanxi was happy; she would finally have clothes to change into, even though the quality wasn't great. At least she would have clothes to change into.

The children looked at her with envy, which made her feel a little guilty. Mo Yunmei glared at her through gritted teeth, but she felt quite relieved.

I love the feeling of you hating me but being unable to get rid of me!

At night, Su Nanxi vaguely heard a loud "thump" and thought the house had collapsed, so she jumped up in fright.

She felt around and couldn't find Mo Qinghe. Panicked, she quickly got up to look for him. Just as she was about to step out, she tripped and fell face-first into the mud.

A faint voice came from the darkness, "It's me. Are you alright?"

Su Nanxi was stunned for a moment before she realized it was Mo Qinghe's voice. The voice sounded so faint; could he be dying? She quickly groped her way over.

Mo Qinghe was indeed very weak and unable to move. Hearing the rustling sound, he knew that Su Nanxi had come over and wanted to wait for her to get closer so that she could help him up.

Unexpectedly, she touched his thigh. She seemed unaware of what she had touched and even touched it back and forth a couple of times. He was shocked and tried to move away but couldn't. He was so angry that he couldn't say anything.

Feeling Su Nanxi's boneless little hand moving on his leg, as if carrying fire and electricity, it made him tremble slightly, and his whole body almost stiffened.

Just as he was about to touch her thigh, he gathered his strength, grabbed her hand, and pulled her towards him with a forceful tug.

Caught off guard, Su Nanxi threw herself at him, bumping into his chest, which made her cry out in pain.

What is that chest made of? Is it made of copper or iron?

This person looks aloof and has a thin appearance, but his bones are so strong!

Mo Qinghe was being pressed down and could hardly breathe. After Su Nanxi got up, it took her a while to recover.

"I accidentally tripped and fell when I got up, and I can't get up no matter what I do. Can you help me up?"

Mo Qinghe's voice still lingered in the darkness, and only he knew that his eyes were flickering uncertainly.

Su Nanxi felt sorry for him. There was no light when he got up at night, and he was also unable to move around easily, so he couldn't call her to get up. He silently endured it all.

She helped him lie down on the bed, found the bamboo jar by the bedside, opened the lid, and slowly moved it over while filling it with spiritual spring water. By the time she reached the bedside, the bamboo jar was full. She touched his hand and placed the bamboo jar in his hand.

Mo Qinghe took it and drank it down without saying a word.

I thought I could go back to sleep, but after a while I realized something was wrong with him.

Su Nanxi reached out and touched his face. His forehead was covered in sweat, and his face was tense. He seemed to be gritting his teeth and enduring it.

She nudged him and asked him what was wrong.

Did I drink too much of the spiritual spring water again?

She remembered giving it to him at dinner time, so it should be digested by now, right?

Don't scare her; it's dark and she can't see anything.

After a long while, Mo Qinghe slowly relaxed and softly uttered a single word, "Pain."
