Chapter 54 A Young Wife Arrives

Although the night was hazy, the moonlight was good tonight, enough to see things up close.

He closed his eyes tightly, scrambled to his feet in a panic, but the image kept replaying in his mind; the more he tried to forget it, the clearer the memory became!

Finally, I got up and walked around the wall countless times, sweating profusely, before I could finally suppress the heat inside my body.

Su Nanxi had no idea what had happened during the night. When she got up and saw that Mo Qinghe was still ignoring her, she simply stopped approaching him and went about her business.

Wouldn't it be more fun to play with a group of lively and adorable children?

Her sweet, clear voice, innocent smile, and adorable actions are so healing!

As soon as she goes out, her tail follows her without her consent, crossing fields and forests, making quite a grand entrance!

Su Nanxi let loose among these children, no longer restraining herself, chasing and playing, jumping around, she really blended in!

"Third Aunt, is it almost cooked?"

Mo Qiushuang stared intently at the roasted bird on the shelf without blinking.

Mo Jiarong stared back, laughing as she said, "You little glutton! There's no way you can be that fast! Be patient, and keep an eye on yourself!"

Mo Dongmei chimed in, "Third Aunt just brushed on the seasoning, it smells so good! Watch how Third Aunt makes it, it's time to take a look around."

Mo Dongcheng came along this time too. He didn't know how to grill, so he could only watch Su Nanxi grill for him. He huddled up in front of the grill, watching the bird being grilled with great interest.

Su Nanxi roasted two birds, checking on the children's roasted birds from time to time, worried that they would burn them and cry if they didn't get any.

To be honest, she was exhausted. She should have just done all the baking herself; it would have been so much easier.

Finally, they could eat. The group was so excited they almost danced for joy. Worried that the roasted bird might fly away, they could only laugh to express their feelings.

Now they're familiar with the mountain, knowing where to dig for wild vegetables and where to gather firewood. They're not in such a rush anymore, and after leisurely finishing their roasted bird, they continue working.

Su Nanxi was in a good mood and felt that roasting a bird wasn't enough, as it was too small. She suggested that she might get a roasted chicken next time.

So, in a moment of joy, he released a lot more chickens and rabbits.

The group returned home laden with their spoils, humming songs and walking with an air of nonchalance, seemingly oblivious to their surroundings.

In a good mood, Su Nanxi forgot that Mo Qinghe was ignoring her. She came back, washed her hands, cleaned the fruit, put it in a bamboo basket and handed it to him, while she took one and started eating it herself.

Mo Qinghe looked at the fruit in his hand, lowered his head and remained silent. After a while, he placed it on the wooden stool next to him and continued weaving his bamboo strips.

Su Nanxi saw it, paused for a moment, then returned to normal, continuing to eat her fruit, but no longer looking at Mo Qinghe.

A young woman from the village approached Su Nanxi, saying she wanted to learn how to make rice noodles and asked if he could teach her.

Su Nanxi didn't recognize the person who came; he looked to be a few years older than her. They spoke through the fence, and she didn't dare to come in.

Su Nanxi shook her head and told her to learn from those who had already learned it; she would not teach her again, as she had said before.

Whether she couldn't understand or not, the young woman continued talking to herself, "I will learn very hard. I learn things quickly and it won't take me too long. I'm usually quite free, so you can teach me anytime!"

Tsk! I have to teach you whenever you have time!

Su Nanxi didn't want to pay attention to her. When she saw Zhao enter the room, she pulled Zhao over and handed her over to handle the situation before leaving.

As soon as Zhao returned to her doorstep, she was pulled over. Still bewildered, she looked at the unfamiliar face outside the fence and refused after hearing what the person said.

“I don’t know how to address you, and you look unfamiliar, but that won’t stop me from speaking. The village chief made it very clear under the old tree before that we will only teach the first group of people who want to learn how to make rice noodles. Those who want to learn later can only learn from those who have already learned. They are still practicing now. You can go and take a look, and then go back and practice. We will no longer teach them individually.”

The young woman lowered her head and pursed her lips. Just as Zhao was about to leave, she spoke again, "I don't want to learn with so many people. I want to learn by myself. I'm very smart, I can learn quickly, it won't take too long. Just two hours, just two hours, do you think that's okay?"

Zhao was taken aback. Hadn't she already made herself clear? Why was she still asking?

“I’m not targeting you, but girl, we’ve already made our point clear. If we keep changing it, everyone will be like this, and we’ll all be exhausted! Even if I agree, the mute girl won’t agree.”

The young woman was still not giving up, "How do you know she doesn't want to do it without even asking her?"

Zhao was too lazy to argue with her. She had just returned from a busy day and hadn't even had a sip of water. She was dying of thirst. She waved her hand and said, "If the mute girl wanted to, she wouldn't have dragged me here. Go on, go to the village chief's house and learn."

After saying that, he turned around and went back to get some water.

The young woman bit her lip, and seeing that no one was paying attention to her anymore, she stomped her foot and ran away.

When Grandma Mo returned and heard about it, she thought for a moment and told them, "That might be Cao San Niang's niece-in-law. People in the village mentioned it yesterday. Someone from Cao San Niang's family came to see her. She's quite young, but we don't know who she is. Cao San Niang hasn't mentioned it to anyone."

Old Mo nodded in agreement, "In this village, it's impossible to keep quiet about who comes to visit. We haven't heard of anyone else coming, so we guess the one looking for the mute woman is Cao San Niang's niece-in-law."

Qin was puzzled, "Cao San Niang never came to learn before, so why is she letting her nephew's wife come to learn now, and even wants to learn alone?"

Zhao always gets straight to the point: "Cao San Niang's family is very poor. This time she came and saw an opportunity, so she had to try it! Maybe it was her nephew's wife who wanted to learn it herself. I didn't even see Cao San Niang come with her."

Everyone suddenly realized that this made sense; otherwise, it wouldn't have been so easy to get rid of her. However, no one understood why the young wife insisted on learning by herself. What was she afraid of?

It was over and done with, and no one took it to heart. Everyone went about their business.

The Mo family lived a good life, occasionally buying some meat to eat and selling some tofu to stew; they were quite peaceful.

"Old man! Where are Laifu and Meimei?!"

Grandma Mo's shout broke the silence.

Not long after the four-person breakfast group left, Old Man Mo, who was squatting in the outhouse, was so startled by a shout that he almost fell in.

"What's wrong? Why are you yelling so loudly? You can't even sit still on the toilet!"

Old Mo walked out with his pants still fastened, and as soon as he came out, he was dragged away.

"What?! Where are Laifu and Meimei?!" Old Man Mo didn't even bother to fasten his belt.

At that shout, everyone in the room jumped up and rushed to see what was happening.

Su Nanxi got up too. She casually tied her hair up and ran over in her slippers.

She didn't hear anything last night, and Laifu didn't call out either, so how did a thief break in?

That thief is amazing! His thieving skills are so high, he didn't make a sound at all!

The children cried their eyes out when they found out their dog and sheep had been stolen, and they cursed the thief as a bastard!

Su Nanxi looked around and thought, "Hmm, this thing looks familiar."
