Chapter 833 The Sensible and Content Tie Dan

Tie Dan shook his head. "I won't go with you. My grandpa and mom are still here! They can't travel easily, so I don't want to trouble you."

He knew his family's situation very well. If they could have taken them with them, they would have done so long ago!

One is bedridden and the other is mentally unstable. Who has the energy to take care of them all? It's impossible to abandon them. He understands that!

The reason he was allowed to stay was because he was sick, and the doctor said he wouldn't live much longer. Otherwise, given his family's preference for sons over daughters, he wouldn't have been allowed to stay.

He was heartbroken watching his family leave; they were so heartless to abandon them!

But later he realized that with a large family but limited food, he couldn't travel far and would face the same situation of having no food or water. They were all in the same boat, just in different locations!

Taking the three of them along will only limit our distance, and if something unexpected happens, we might not have a chance at all.

It would be better for everyone to fend for themselves, relying on their own abilities and luck, and then leave the rest to fate.

Tie Dan understood things very well, so he had no complaints and tried his best to live.

He rarely met such a kind person. He knew that what he had done was excessive, but he thought that he was not the only one who needed to eat and drink. He also had his grandparents. So, he finally mustered up the courage to come and give it a try.

How will you know if it will work or not if you don't try?

He had tried, and no matter the outcome, he felt at ease.

Once you leave this village, you'll never find such a wonderful older sister again!

My sister is a good person; she gave him so much food!

He couldn't find water even the locals couldn't find, but his sister found it easily and even filled several buckets with it!

This is something not everyone can do!

My sister is amazing!

He did consider going with them, but when he thought about the two other people who needed his care, he immediately dismissed the idea.

Let the three of them continue to depend on each other for survival.

Maybe it won't be long. His grandfather's condition isn't very good, and his mother is always sleepy!

Su Nanxi understood perfectly well that she should respect Tie Dan's choice; she couldn't stop others from fulfilling their filial duties!

"No problem, I can give it to you. Just wait a moment. Oh, by the way, you need to pack something in it, you can't take water in your pocket!"

Tie Dan was very happy to see that Su Nanxi had agreed. He said thank you and then turned and ran away.

I guess he went home to get something.

Sure enough, not long after, Tiedan came over carrying a basket and a bucket.

Everyone looked at Tiedan and, knowing that Su Nanxi was going to give Tiedan food and drink, had no objections.

It's not their property, so what right do they have to complain?

They don't even have a say. It's the Mo family's property. How the Mo family handles it is their business!

I'm a little envious of this kid, though, he managed to get the Mo family's stuff so easily!

Those are all good things!

They all saw it; the basket was right there, and they could see everything clearly at a glance!

However, the basket was quite small and couldn't hold much; even if it were full, it wouldn't be much.

It looks like the kind of basket that kids use to play with.

Su Nanxi noticed it too, and she wondered why they didn't take a bigger one, since this basket really couldn't hold much.

Tie Dan took it on purpose. He has a big basket at home, but he didn't want to take it. What would it look like if he took it? It's so big!

It would make me seem unreasonable and ungrateful, and if I don't receive enough, I'll feel embarrassed!

Who has that much stuff to give? It's obvious!

Seeing that the food wouldn't last long, and looking at such a sensible child, Su Nanxi felt a surge of sympathy and gave him another cloth bag.

Tie Dan didn't want it at first, but Su Nanxi just stuffed the bag rope into his hands, saying, "Take it. There's not much food, so eat it sparingly."

As she said this, Su Nanxi choked up, because she thought of their ending.

She probably won't last many more days if she stays, and she can't be of much help anyway, so she'll help out as much as she can!

She wouldn't feel good if she just left.

No matter how much we give, it's useless. Nobody knows how long this situation will last, or how much will be enough.

Besides, if we give too much, with so many people watching, it's hard to say what will happen.

Tie Dan was already very content; he felt that there were still people in this world who genuinely cared for and loved him!

It was worth the trip!

No matter how reluctant we are, we still have to say goodbye in the end.

Su Nanxi told Tie Dan to hurry back, as they were also leaving.

Tie Dan originally wanted to watch them leave before leaving himself, but he was also very sad and didn't want to keep reliving this scene in his mind, so he gritted his teeth, turned around, and ran away.

At this moment, everyone guessed the child's fate, and their hearts suddenly felt heavy.

They were quite fortunate; they had plenty to eat and drink, and even some meat. They didn't feel like they were fleeing famine at all!

And their families are all here; no one abandoned anyone!

The elderly can still walk, albeit slowly, and we still have to carry them for a while, but at least the family isn't separated!

This separation might be forever!

So everyone quietly packed their things, counted the number of people in each family, and continued walking forward with somewhat heavy steps.

Passing through the mountains, they saw that the grass growing by the roadside was quite good, but now it had turned yellow and withered. Su Nanxi pulled up a large handful, and everyone was puzzled as to what she wanted to do with it.

As Su Nanxi worked, she replied, "This grass looks pretty good, we can't waste it. We're just passing by anyway, so we'll pick some and make a few pairs of straw sandals. They're lightweight and cool, perfect for this kind of weather. If they wear out, we can make another pair. It won't cost any money!"

When everyone heard this, they perked up. They wanted to learn anything that didn't cost them money!

They're idle anyway, so learning that skill would be a great asset. At the very least, it would solve their own family's shoe problem!

They're more than willing to do things that don't cost them money!

So a group of women squeezed over, pushing all the men aside, and kept shouting that they wanted to learn too, asking Su Nanxi if he could teach them.

Su Nanxi was taken aback by this scene. This was too crazy! The enthusiasm was incredible! But the problem was, she was also a beginner. She had only seen how to make it, but she had no hands-on experience!

"It's alright, it's alright, mute lady. You're very skillful, you'll master it quickly. We can teach you slowly later!"

All they wanted was a promise from Su Nanxi: that he would teach them!

Su Nanxi thought it was a good idea. She had memorized it all. With her intelligence, she should be able to master it after a few more practice sessions.

Having received the answers they wanted, everyone dispersed and returned to their families.

"Honey, do you need my help?"

Mo Qinghe came closer, looking around and asking questions.

Su Nanxi didn't even look up. "It would be best if I could help!"

Working together, men and women, makes the work easier!

Mo Qinghe smiled; he was overjoyed!

The other members of the Mo family craned their necks to watch, wanting to learn as well.

Suddenly, a commotion broke out at the back of the main force.

What happened?

"That Iron Egg followed us!"
