Chapter 902 Refusing to Stay

These people found a cave to stay in temporarily, not far from the city gate. They were lucky; the cave they found was large, and there was water and wild vegetables where they came out.

There are traces of human activity, suggesting that people may have lived here temporarily before.

They boldly settled in, and there was some firewood in the cave, probably leftovers from the people who came before them.

It was because they left early and found a good place that those who followed them struggled for a long time and found it difficult to find a place to settle down.

Many people, like before, camped in the open space, thinking that the time would pass quickly, so they made do and were unwilling to find a wife.

Having come this far, I suppose they've gotten used to this lifestyle and don't see anything wrong with it.

A large group of people stopped nearby for a rest, and the once quiet place became lively.

Some people saw Su Nanxi and his group's cave and were filled with envy, regretting that they hadn't come looking for them sooner.

Some people even tried to squeeze in, but the village chief refused them all.

There were already a lot of them, and the cave was quite large, but once they settled in, it wasn't very big; you could only say it wasn't crowded.

We're all acquaintances, part of the same group, with shared interests and able to advance and retreat together. If outsiders suddenly arrive, they'll not only be uncomfortable, but they'll also have to be highly vigilant, and conflicts might even arise!

Why bother!

Everyone has come a long way, it hasn't been easy, and everyone's exhausted. Now that we have the means to be more relaxed and comfortable, why make ourselves live such a tense life?

If strangers have malicious intentions, their personal safety and property cannot be guaranteed!

It's not that they're petty or that they see everyone as bad, but they know the situation best. It's not a time for excessive kindness; everyone is looking out for themselves!

Human nature is at its ugliest at times like these; you can encounter its ugliest side without even realizing it!

They are unwilling to uncover the truth, unwilling to see it!

Those people were angry when they were rejected, but they didn't dare to do anything because when they saw Xiao Wu and Xiao Han standing quietly to the side with their swords, all their imposing manner vanished instantly.

One group left dejectedly, and another group arrived.

Without exception, they were all rejected.

Sorry, first come, first served!

No matter what I say, it's no use!

Who isn't pitiful?

If they sympathize with others, then who will sympathize with them?

Those people were actually drawn to Su Nanxi and his group because they saw they had a lot of things, including oxcarts and donkey carts, so they must not be a poor family!

At this point in time, if someone still has so many bags and packages, they must be a wealthy person!

If you can freeload a meal, you'll get one; as long as you're shameless, you won't go hungry!

At worst, let the child cry and fuss; they won't go too far!

That's what these people thought, and they planned to do it, but unfortunately, none of them succeeded!

They dared not cause trouble, for there were knives and swords, and several dogs that looked menacing!

Where can you possibly win a fight?

Su Nanxi hummed to herself. They didn't always have this much stuff. They picked up whatever they could along the way. In this day and age, having something is better than having nothing!

If you don't want to starve to death, you can't be too lazy!

Go wherever you want, grab whatever you can!

There will be plenty if you just pick them up!

It's hard to say exactly how much of it is actually useful.

Even though the people have been driven away, we still need to be vigilant.

The village chief warned everyone to remain highly vigilant and not to let their guard down!

After making the arrangements, everyone got busy.

Everyone was familiar with the process, so there was no need to ask many questions; they quickly divided the work and cooperated.

Unlike before, there are now people guarding the entrance to the cave.

Xiao Han leaned against the cave entrance, looking quite casual. Fu Mingchuan was a little further out, able to see people further away and ensure that everyone was within his line of sight.

Su Nanxi led a group of people to cut down trees. At first, the people who went with him didn't understand what they were going to do with such thick branches, since they hadn't even started cutting them yet!

"It's not safe to use it as a door at night!"

Su Nanxi gave a brief explanation without stopping her work.

oh!

Everyone understood; this was to protect against those people!

After listening, he didn't ask any more questions, picked up his machete and got to work. He really needed a sturdy and reliable door, otherwise he wouldn't be able to sleep soundly at night!

In the past, when there were few people outside, they could leave the door open. But now it's different. There are quite a few people camping not far away, which looks very unsafe!

Let's just go through the time and effort to build a door with defensive features!

The door that Su Nanxi was going to build was not a simple door in the conventional sense; it had a mechanism!

When they dragged the timber back, the others were puzzled, but they didn't explain.

The village chief came over and looked for a while, then looked at the cave entrance again, and suddenly understood.

I can't help but admire how thoughtful young people are!

You're quite clever; you even managed to come up with this!

He's getting old; he doesn't have the brains to think of such ingenious and clever ideas anymore.

The porridge was cooking, and its aroma wafted out, causing those outside to swallow hard.

They were all puzzled. What was this thing? Why did it smell so much better than what they had in their hands?

Suddenly, I realized that the food I was eating had no taste at all. This was something they were so proud of. No matter what, at least I still had something to eat!

As a result, nothing tasted good anymore!

The air was filled with a sweet aroma, making my stomach rumble!

They really wanted to ask what exactly was put in to simmer, or what kind of water was used to boil it.
