Mo Yunmei certainly wouldn't miss such a good opportunity, and Zhao Jinhua wouldn't miss such a fat sheep either. The two of them each had their own plans, and they were making a lot of noise!
Su Nanxi was outside and didn't go in. She heard Zhao Ziqi mutter curses from time to time. He didn't name names, but she could tell that he was cursing Zhao Jinhua.
It seems the siblings don't get along very well. You don't like me, so I look down on you. Tsk, they really are siblings!
On the surface, Zhao Ziqi seems unaffected by the Chen Qiuxia incident, but upon closer inspection, she is indeed affected!
Zhao Ziqi seems to have become a bit more irritable, losing her former gentle and easygoing demeanor. Perhaps it's because she stays at home and doesn't go out in public.
Mo Yunmei came out not long after, smiling radiantly, her eyes revealing shyness and excitement.
No need to ask, it's definitely because the dream is about to come true.
Fortunately, the person knew the way home and ran back.
Grandma Mo saw it but didn't say much. She saw Su Nanxi follow her out, so she assumed nothing had happened.
"Grab your things and get to work!"
Grandma Mo simply said one sentence, tidied up her tools, and left the courtyard.
Seeing this, Mo Yunmei thought that her mother was no longer making her work, and she was overjoyed. She slowly touched the ground, thinking that she would sneak out after her mother had gone far away.
That's great, she won't have to do any more work now. She should take good care of her skin and make sure it's not too rough. She's going to be a young mistress, and her hands shouldn't have calluses or other signs of her past hard labor.
Just as she was lost in her daydreams, Old Lady Mo lashed out with a bamboo whip, striking her feet and startling her so much that she jumped aside and screamed.
"How long are you going to keep touching me! Do I have to buy things to get them? Hurry up, grab them and leave! You've made me wait so long!"
Old Lady Mo lashed out with the whip again.
Mo Yunmei screamed and jumped up and down, all the beautiful moments in her mind vanished, she quickly found the tools, picked them up and ran out.
She thought she wouldn't have to do any more work. Didn't her mother already go out? Why did she come back?
It would have been better if she hadn't come back! She could have rested and wouldn't have gotten so tanned!
Grandma Mo didn't care what she was thinking. "Just do what you're supposed to do, and stop thinking about slacking off all day long! If you don't want to work, that's fine, but you'll have to take care of your own meals from now on!"
Mo Yunmei's eyes lit up at the first part of the story—no work, great! But when she heard the second part, her spirits immediately dampened. How was she supposed to manage? She didn't know how to do anything; wouldn't she starve to death?
Just bear with it a little longer; once these days are over, she'll be able to live a good life.
No one paid any attention to Mo Yunmei's bizarre ideas.
Su Nanxi met up with the children and released a flock of ducks on her way back. The Mo family members were busy catching the ducks, and they caught eight in total. One of them escaped and was hit by a small stone from Su Nanxi and fell down.
Since it was still edible, I picked it up and took it home.
They returned with a full load, reaping a great harvest. They dug up plenty of mushrooms, carrots, and corn.
Of course, Su Nanxi picked the corn herself and then brought it out to put in baskets for everyone.
Everyone's hands were full, and even though they were tired, they were very happy because all of this was delicious food! Others might want to be tired, but they didn't even get a chance to be!
Even Mo Yunmei was carrying half a basket of corn on her back. It was so heavy that she cried out in pain, complaining about how tired and heavy it was, but no one paid any attention to her. If she didn't carry it back, she wouldn't have anything to eat.
Mo Yunmei could only grit her teeth and carry it back. It wasn't actually that heavy, but she had gotten used to calling out to it so that the weight would be reduced and she wouldn't have to work so hard.
She'd done this a lot before, but now everyone's deaf, no one hears her shouts, no one tells her to take something or make things easier for her.
Back home, Mo Yunmei acted as if she had accomplished something great, clamoring for delicious food, and then lay down on the deck chair under the tree, refusing to move.
Su Nanxi didn't even glance at her, nor did she hear what she was yelling about.
Just as everyone had finished tidying up and was preparing to cook, Mrs. Luo arrived at the Mo family's house.
The people didn't react much; they just said hello and then went back to their own business.
Luo's forced smile froze. Why were the Mo family members so cold to her? They didn't even bother to make tea, pour water, or serve fruit!
The Mo family was very busy. This wasn't the first time Mrs. Luo had come. So what if she came? She could just find a place to sit.
When Luo came, she always came empty-handed, clearly there to have fun, yes, to play with Zhao.
But Zhao Shi didn't have as much free time as her. She had a lot of things to do and was always busy.
Therefore, Zhao was the last person who wanted to see Luo, because Luo would not usually come to her. She would only pretend to be on good terms with her sister-in-law and try to get close to her when she needed her help.
"Sister-in-law, what brings you here? Don't you have anything to do at home? I'm very busy. If you have something to say, say it quickly; otherwise, go home!"
Luo's face fell; this sister-in-law was trying to kick her out!
How dare she kick her sister-in-law out!
Zhao didn't have time to argue with her or care about her feelings. This sister-in-law from her maternal family was only in a good mood when there was something to gain!
Luo pulled Zhao aside, looked around to make sure no one was coming, and then whispered to Zhao, "I'm your sister-in-law, how can you kick me out like this? Can't I come to see you if I have nothing to do? You've really gotten yourself into a bad situation, now that you're living a good life, you're looking down on your own family, aren't you?"
Zhao didn't want to listen to Luo's scolding, so she interrupted her, "Did I say you couldn't come to see me? If I said you couldn't come, would you stop coming? I don't look down on my family. If you come, just say what you need. Don't beat around the bush. I'm really busy. Just say what you need to say!"
Luo was interrupted and choked for a moment, her train of thought interrupted. It took her a while to remember the purpose of her visit to the Mo family, and she coughed lightly twice.
"Well, I'll tell you then! I heard that the Mo family is doing very well in the breakfast business now, is that true? I don't think too much about it. You know the Zhao family is also very poor. Now that you have money, why don't you help your family out? See if you can tell us how, so we can sell some too, and we can all make money together!"
Zhao was right; nothing good ever came of it. Hadn't she ever helped her family?
I invited my two sisters-in-law to come and learn how to make rice noodles because I wanted to give my family an extra source of income and make life a little easier. But look at them, have they actually learned anything?
Another young man who came to learn at the same time studied diligently and mastered the skill. His rice noodles were very popular with the buyers, who would buy all of his products! He's made a fortune!
My two sisters-in-law are women, so they should be more skillful, but they didn't learn how to do it and didn't earn a single penny!
Now that she sees the Mo family has a profitable business, she's envious and has the idea to try and make some money too. But is that something she can decide?
If she tells her family the method and steals all the business, what will the Mo family earn? Wouldn't she become a traitor to the Mo family?
Heh! The Mo family will definitely divorce her then!
