Chapter 1

Tang Wan looked at the news broadcasting about the hottest celebrity, Su Jiajia, on the building across the street, curled her lips into a smile, and then jumped down.

Her body shattered in the pitch-black night, while across from her stood a bright lighthouse.

Those lights did not favor her, nor did they take her away from the darkness out of pity.

The news headlines were overwhelmingly about Su Jiajia winning the Best Actress award, while only in a very small corner were there tributes to Tang Wan's death.

And the malice that never left was fully embodied in her.

Although I hate her, I don't want her to die.

[But she's really unlikable; she always tries to take everything from others. Jiajia is so cute, yet she bullies Jiajia on set.]

[Good riddance! Such an evil person shouldn't live in this world. Her death is a service to the people!]

Regardless of what others said, Tang Wan had already jumped off the cliff, ending it all and knowing nothing about it.

...

Xin Xin Orphanage.

In the far corner of the room, a little girl in a faded white dress suddenly woke up.

Her eyes widened, she jumped out of bed, ran to the mirror, and looked at her shrunken self with a hint of panic in her eyes.

On her chest, a crooked name was embroidered in black thread, which looked quite unsightly.

——Tangwan.

Tang Wan reached out and touched her face.

Then he slapped himself hard.

A crisp sound rang out in the room, causing the children around to move further and further away from Tang Wan.

"Why is she hitting herself?"

"Is he sick?"

"Stay away from her, she's always been weird."

As Tang Wan heard these familiar words, the corners of her mouth curled up, revealing an expression that was neither a smile nor a cry.

What's this?

Even if I want to die, does God not want me to?

Tang Wan knew from a young age that she was not a likable child.

As a child, I was unable to speak a word due to psychological issues.

There were so many children in the orphanage that everyone was eager to show themselves off and let the families who came to adopt them see them.

Tang Wan is very beautiful. At such a young age, she has a delicate face, and many families want to adopt her.

However, when they learned that Tang Wan was unable to speak due to psychological problems, they all gave up on her.

Over time, Tang Wan became increasingly silent.

People came and went at Xin Xin Orphanage, and in the end, only she remained, growing up there in loneliness and boredom.

Tang Wan still remembers that when she was a child, she was approached by a director who was filming a variety show because she was good-looking. But in the end, because she couldn't speak, she was replaced by Su Jiajia, the director's daughter.

Yes.

Su Jiajia.

As Tang Wan thought about this, she felt her fingertips grow cold.

Tang Wan never understood why Su Jiajia always disliked her, even until her death. In her past life, Su Jiajia had made her already unfortunate life even worse.

She clenched her fingers, her two thin, bony hands slowly tightening.

Since God allowed me to be reborn, is it because He couldn't bear to see me suffer anymore?

Do you want to change your way of life?

Suddenly, a commotion arose at the courtyard gate, and Tang Wan subconsciously looked out the window.

It was a very large vehicle, and a man with a round belly got out.

Tang Wan's eyes lit up as she recognized him.

He is the director of the "New Dad" program, which changed his and Su Jiajia's fate!

She made the decision almost instantly, turned around and started running outside.

This time, just this once!

She must seize this opportunity!

She no longer wanted to be like a fragile flower, a neglected gust of wind, carelessly wasted, and then die alone.

She just wanted to live.

From the moment I was deprived of my first steps in life, I wanted to reclaim the life that belonged to me!

However, at the very moment Tang Wan turned around, her memories of her previous life began to fade.

Finally, she used all her strength to seize the last moment and emphasized one thing to her younger self.

—I need to leave here! I need to find my family!

Tang Wan ran towards the stairwell.

She didn't know why she was running, but a thought kept reminding her.

Hurry, hurry!

Go and reclaim the opportunity that belongs to you!

Run!

Suddenly, a chubby little boy stumbled and tumbled down from the second floor.

With a "thud," the frail Tang Wan was knocked down.

Tang Wan opened her eyes wide, looked at the dozen or so steps left, and fell face down.

Tang Wan was so frightened that she closed her eyes in fear, bracing herself for the pain.

But his body hadn't completely lost consciousness; he raised his thin arms, trying to protect his head.

However, the expected pain did not come; instead, she fell into a slightly cold embrace.

The embrace carried the scent of cedar, much like the old paper Tang Wan usually used, which gave her a sense of security.

"Be careful." Although the person's voice was tinged with displeasure, their actions in helping Tang Wan up were very gentle. "What if you fall?"

Tang Wan couldn't speak, so she could only look at the man in front of her with her big eyes, then tilt her head and gesture with her hands.

[Thanks]

Upon seeing this, a staff member wearing a work badge volunteered to translate for the man: "Brother Lu Lin, she is saying 'thank you'."

Lu Lin paused for a moment, but quickly regained his composure, reaching out his large hands to ruffle Tang Wan's hair: "Can't you talk? Why?"
