Chapter 158 Reciprocity

Chen Shuo saw the look of surprise in Tang Wan's eyes, a tenderness he himself was unaware of.

In their home, such gadgets are considered unpresentable.

They won't allow themselves to do it, nor will they allow themselves to do it.

Chen Shuo just thought that Tang Wan was different from those people.

She probably wouldn't laugh at herself for doing these low-class things.

As expected, Chen Shuo breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the genuine surprise in Tang Wan's eyes.

The corners of his mouth were slightly upturned, giving him a somewhat smiling look.

This is the scene that Fu Wenzhi saw when he came down.

But he didn't do anything special; he simply walked over to Tang Wan's side and went to class with her.

Looking at the mechanical bird in Tang Wan's hand, he asked, "What is this?"

Chen Shuo answered in a completely flat voice, "It's a mechanical bird, made of copper sheets."

The mechanical bird has a bright green head and its overall shape resembles a kingfisher.

The mechanical bird's body parts have exposed mechanical gears, which look very intricate.

It's definitely a little gadget that girls would really like.

But Tang Wan only glanced at it before returning the mechanical bird to Chen Shuo.

Chen Shuo must have put a lot of thought and time into such an exquisite item.

I cannot accept it myself.

When Chen Shuo saw Tang Wan hand the mechanical bird back, his expression, hidden behind his glasses, was somewhat surprised.

Clearly, Tang Wan hadn't expected that he would refuse this "gift".

After all, Tang Wan is the kind of person who almost never refuses other people's kindness.

But she rejected him.

Chen Shuo couldn't quite describe how he felt, but he was definitely unhappy.

But Chen Shuo was used to not revealing himself, so he didn't say a word, didn't take the mechanical bird from Tang Wan's hand, straightened his clothes, and walked out.

Lu Ze and Gou Xi didn't go the same way as them, so they didn't go back with them.

Many classmates stared at Tang Wan and her group along the way.

After all, Chen Shuo was a celebrity on the school's honor roll, and they recognized him.

And all three of them are very good-looking.

Tang Wan didn't understand why Chen Shuo suddenly got angry.

She just felt that the gift was a bit too expensive.

Tang Wan subconsciously raised the mechanical bird in her hand, feeling that she might have gone a bit too far.

So she quickened her pace, walked up to Chen Shuo, and tugged at his sleeve.

Chen Shuo turned around and saw Tang Wan standing behind him. Suppressing the strange emotions in his heart, he asked, "What's wrong?"

Tang Wan tilted her head, like a little cat, and took out a large bag of cookies from her pocket, and then took out a handwritten coupon.

Chen Shuo picked it up and saw what was written on it.

[Snack voucher (one month)]

Chen Shuo had seen all kinds of membership cards since he was a child, but this was the first time he had ever seen such a simple supply coupon.

But the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, though the curve was small, it was definitely there.

Her voice carried a hint of gentleness: "Then I'll accept it."

"Reciprocity is key."

The students around them whispered among themselves, some not understanding what they were doing.

Surely it's not like they're handing out love letters?

Who writes a love letter on a blank sheet of paper?

And the classmate they were with looked really bad...

Tang Wan nodded, agreeing that this is how friends should be.

She shouldn't have refused Chen Shuo's gift.

That's how friendships should be—gradually getting to know each other and growing stronger together.

I can't always be in a state of rejection.

Tang Wan, being in a lower grade, quickly reached the classroom door, while Chen Shuo and Fu Wenzhi, being in higher grades, still needed to walk a distance.

After Tang Wan left their sight, Fu Wenzhi and Chen Shuo simultaneously looked away and walked back to their own classroom.

However, the relatively harmonious atmosphere between them vanished like smoke, leaving them somewhat tense.

When Tang Wan returned to the classroom, Ji Helin was already sitting in his seat.

But his expression was very unpleasant, as if he was angry.

Tang Wan didn't waste any more words with him. She simply braced herself on the table with her hand, flipped over, and returned to her seat.

Her movements were so fluid and graceful that Ji Helin didn't get a chance to speak to her.

Of course, that made them even angrier.

No one dared to provoke him, but Ji Helin insisted on provoking Tang Wan.

He nudged Tang Wan's elbow and asked, "Hey, what's that in your hand?"

Tang Wan dislikes Ji Helin and is unwilling to pay attention to him.

So he put the mechanical bird he was holding inside his backpack.

Of course, she only made a gesture; in reality, the mechanical bird was still on Tang Wan's body, just placed inside her school uniform.

Tang Wan does not trust Ji Helin.

What if Ji Helin sees that I left the mechanical bird there and can't control his curiosity, and deliberately goes to look at it?

Tang Wan didn't want the things her friends gave her to break because of some possible things that might happen.

She really cherishes these gifts.

Even after Tang Wan packed up her things in front of Ji Helin, he didn't look away.

He wanted to say something more, but the teacher had already entered the classroom, and he immediately stopped talking.

Tang Wan doesn't like me anyway, so I shouldn't bother her while she's in class.

Otherwise, she'll dislike herself even more.

Ji Helin had never felt so wronged, so much so that his gaze towards Tang Wan was filled with resentment.
