Chapter Seventy: Does He Eat Children?

Lu Yao exhaled a smoke ring, her bright red lips imprinted on the cigarette, like a red rose in full bloom.

But her words weren't so gentle; they were rather nonchalant and indifferent: "Who knows? After all, he went mad overnight."

"You know, this person is so strange. He's not even married, yet he claims to have a child and wants to steal someone else's child."

Lu Lin didn't have a very good impression of the Si family member either.

When Lu Ze was five years old, the way that young master of the Si family looked at Lu Ze was not exactly kind.

In particular, the Si family's education, with its inherent indifference and arrogance, is something that most people cannot tolerate.

The entire Si family was like a silent monster; no one knew what they were thinking.

All we know is that they quietly did good deeds, but we never heard them speak.

There are some similarities between her and Tang Wan, who cannot speak.

Lu Yao stared at Lu Lin, lost in thought, and sighed.

If she could, she wouldn't want her son to have any contact with that young master Si.

Aunt Kesi is so pitiful.

Her husband died young, and she single-handedly shouldered the burden of the Si family.

Her best friend passed away young, leaving her with a daughter to raise. However, the girl was bedridden for many years and few people had seen her. It was said that she also passed away a few years ago because her body reached its limit.

The only son lost both legs in a car accident, which drastically changed his personality, making him unpredictable and moody.

If it weren't for his keen business acumen, he probably wouldn't have been able to handle the enormous Si family business.

Aunt Si finally found a child she liked, so we couldn't let her down.

Moreover, perhaps it was because her life was full of suffering that she liked Tang Wan, who was also a bitter girl like her.

Lu Lin did not immediately agree.

He called out to the little brat downstairs, "Tangtang!"

Tang Wan, who looked like a little red envelope, suddenly turned around and looked at Lu Lin waving at her from the second floor. Her eyes slowly lit up, and she waved her short arm in imitation of Lu Lin.

He was still shouting excitedly.

"ah!"

Lu Lin continued, "Would you like to go to Aunt Si's house to play?"

Aunt Si?

Tang Wan searched through her memories and found the grandmother who seemed difficult to get along with.

Did she invite me to her house?

Tang Wan tilted her head, somewhat hesitant.

That grandmother didn't seem like someone who enjoyed crowds.

But perhaps because the colors on her clothes were too thin, she looked particularly cold and desolate.

She looked down and tugged at her red coat, wondering if such a bright color could be considered warm.

Would that grandma be a little happier?

Tang Wan nodded after thinking about this.

She still liked that grandmother.

That grandmother had no bad intentions; she was just not good with words.

Lu Lin looked at Tang Wan's actions, gave her an "OK" sign, then turned to look at Lu Yao, reverting to his lazy demeanor.

"Alright, let's go."

Lu Yao looked at her usually unruly younger brother, who had changed so drastically, and clicked her tongue in amazement.

She extinguished her cigarette, looked at the two little ones playing below, and her usually sharp features softened considerably: "This is fine too."

"Marriage is rarely smooth sailing."

Lu Ze pulled Tang Wan aside and told her about going to see Gou Xi and Chen Shuo in a few days. After receiving a positive reply, he reluctantly said goodbye to Tang Wan and his mother.

As he walked, he tapped his wrist, shook it, and shouted, "Call me if you need anything!"

Lu Yao, who was walking beside him, raised her hand and slapped Lu Ze on the back of the head, saying, "You think you're so capable?"

Lu Ze was used to his mother patting his head. He covered his head, which was sore from the pat, and looked at Lu Yao with a somewhat disapproving expression, saying, "Mom, please stop smoking."

Lu Yao was slightly taken aback. Just as she was about to say something, she heard Lu Ze's voice again.

"I will grow up quickly and help you manage the Lu family business."

It was clear that Lu Ze knew about the Si family's situation, which was why he said those words to comfort Lu Yao.

Lu Yao rubbed Lu Ze's head, smiled, and left without saying a word, leading Lu Ze away.

The Lu family members at the Lu family's old residence prepared many gifts for Tang Wan.

They probably knew that Tang Wan was a sensible child, so the gifts they gave her were quite practical.

Tang Wan looked at the gifts piled up like a small mountain, her dark grape-like eyes seeming to be filled with stars.

This was the first time she had received so many gifts.

There were so many that they almost overwhelmed Tangwan.

Seeing that Tang Wan still wanted to open the gift, Lu Lin took two pairs of scissors and sat down next to her to keep her company.

The figures of a large and a small figure landed in the spacious room, and the butler quietly closed the door.

During such heartwarming moments, it's best not to disturb them with trivial matters.

Tang Wan and Lu Lin spent a long time unwrapping the gifts, and then late at night, Lu Lin and Tang Wan put the gifts back in their places.

Finally, as the stars twinkled, the two finished washing up, and Lu Lin carried the drowsy Tang Wan back to the bedroom prepared for her in the old house.

The ceiling can be opened; there's a layer of glass hidden in the roof, and you can see the starry sky when you open it.

The stars are within reach.

The same will be true in the future.

Tang Wan glanced at the door closing out of the corner of her eye and quietly opened her eyes.

She actually couldn't sleep, but thinking that Lu Lin was too tired, she pretended to be very sleepy.

Tang Wan knew that adults needed to save face.

She quietly pressed the button on the bedside table, listened to the soft sound, and saw the ceiling above her head open.

The stars in the sky looked at Tang Wan and winked at her.

Tang Wan lay on the soft bed and made a wish to the bright moon.

She thought she should be a materialist.

But at this moment, she wanted to be a believer for once.

If God can hear my voice, then I must thank Him properly.

It gave her a warm home.

That's enough.

The stars in the sky accompanied Tang Wan as she fell asleep, and the darkness no longer seemed to frighten her.

A few days later, Tang Wan, wearing a blue dress in the same color scheme as Lu Lin, went to the Si family together.

Throughout the journey, Lu Lin kept telling Tang Wan not to get close to the young master of the Si family.

At this point, Lu Lin paused for a moment, then said, "You just need to stay by my side."

Tang Wan obeyed, nodding vigorously, and then held up the tablet with pink fuzzy edges, on which was written.

Does he eat children?

Lu Lin burst out laughing.

Just imagining Si Huai's deadpan face as he eats children is incredibly comedic.

So he just nodded, picked up the sweet and soft Tang Wan, and said, "Yes, he eats children, Tang Tang should stay away from him."

Tang Wan blinked, knowing that Lu Lin was joking again.

In today's society, who would still eat children?

He's clearly just scaring himself.

But Tang Wan has always cooperated with Lu Lin.

Life requires playing dumb occasionally; that's how you find moments of joy.
