Chapter Sixty-Four: Where Did I Come From?

Tang Wan had never hated her inability to speak as much as she did now.

Pei Yunzhou looked at the disheveled little brat, who exuded an aura of despair, and the smile that was always on his lips vanished.

He knew that Tang Wan was a sensible child.

She cries, but not often.

But now, even though she couldn't utter a single sad sound, it was as if a tsunami was crashing down on her, engulfing her.

Tang Wan covered her dirty hands with her bunny costume, patted Pei Yunzhou's hand, pointed into the distance, and anxiously made "ah ah ah" sounds.

However, Pei Yunzhou is not Fu Wenzhi; he cannot understand sign language.

All he knew was that the child was in a hurry.

But they didn't know what she was trying to express.

But his upbringing taught Pei Yunzhou that he must not lose his composure, especially in situations like this.

So he picked up Tang Wan and carried her toward Fu Wenzhi, saying, "Take your time to figure out how to tell us, don't panic."

Don't panic, we're all here for you.

Tang Wan seemed to realize the unspoken words Pei Yunzhou had said.

She suddenly realized something, took out her tablet from her pocket, and started writing and drawing on it with her finger.

But she was too flustered, and the dirt on her hands fell onto the clean screen, leaving dark marks that looked very unsightly.

Tang Wan's tears fell drop by drop onto the tablet, and then she wiped them away with the back of her hand.

With trembling hands, she wrote each word carefully.

[They pointed the brother to the wrong place; Su Jiajia wasn't there.]

[Su Jiajia was kidnapped by her mother. Those bad guys are following her brother; they want to hurt him!]

[The place where Su Jiajia was tied up was a large, flat area. The people there spoke with heavy accents; they were all locals!]

[They're bad guys, they're bringing a lot of people with them, we need to call the police!]

Tang Wan's handwriting was a bit crooked, and because she wrote it too fast, some parts were missing, but Pei Yunzhou could tell at a glance.

His eyes darkened; he knew this was not a matter that could be easily resolved.

At that moment, Pei Yunzhou happened to walk up to Fu Wenzhi's house.

Fu Wenzhi, dressed in black pajamas, looked at Tang Wan, who was covered in dirt and had tears in her eyes, and was slightly taken aback. He then asked, "What's wrong?"

Pei Yunzhou, determined not to worry the children too much, simply shook his head, placed Tang Wan in front of Fu Wenzhi, and said, "Can you stay with Tang Tang for a while? I need to go find your dad."

Fu Wenzhi nodded, watched Pei Yunzhou go upstairs, then turned around, looked at Tang Wan who looked uneasy, took out a handkerchief from his pocket, and wiped Tang Wan's face.

With that wipe, his hand was covered in mud.

Tang Wan didn't have time to feel embarrassed; her gaze was fixed on Pei Yunzhou, and she looked very anxious.

Fu Wenzhi simply stood in front of her, asking in a manner unusually calm for a child, "Can you tell me what happened?"

Tang Wan's gaze fell on Fu Wenzhi, then she raised her hand and quickly made hand gestures.

Fu Wenzhi nodded as he repeated the story.

"They have a base where many people are imprisoned."

"There are signs of abuse, there is a pregnant woman, and it is suspected to be illegal imprisonment."

"Su Jiajia was put in solitary confinement by her mother. Lu Lin and the production team received incorrect information."

“The people around here have a close relationship with Dean Su and his group, and the surrounding residents may be covering for them.”

"They were accomplices, and they all seemed to be from the same hometown."

"It's very dangerous, we need to call the police, and we need a lot of people."

Tang Wan finally stopped moving. Fu Wenzhi raised his wrist, and the children's watch on it was still lit up, flashing the light of a call in progress.

He said in a voice that still sounded like a child, "That's the whole report. Father, please be careful."

Tang Wan had never seen Fu Wenzhi like this before.

It is calm and composed.

This version of Fu Wenzhi felt somewhat familiar to her, but this familiarity didn't come from the people she had met recently.

It was the shadow in her dream.

Gentle yet strong.

Tang Wan wanted to go with Pei Yunzhou to save Lu Lin.

However, she had just taken a step when Fu Wenzhi stopped her, and then she heard Fu Wenzhi say, "That's an adult's business."

"Tangtang, you haven't grown up yet."

"Children have the right to hide in safe rooms."

Tang Wan blinked, and dirty water dripped from her eyelashes, leaving two deep marks on her fair face, which looked somewhat comical.

But no one can laugh.

Fu Wenzhi took Tang Wan's scarred hand and led her into the warm house.

Tang Wan looked at the clean ground and subconsciously withdrew her foot.

She was very dirty.

However, Fu Wenzhi disregarded Tang Wan's refusal.

He picked Tang Wan up and carried her to the restroom.

Fu Wenzhi rubbed the dirty handkerchief clean and then gently wiped Tang Wan's face.

Warm water was used to wash Tang Wan's hands clean.

Finally, Fu Wenzhi took out a white garment that he had never worn from his room and handed it to Tang Wan.

"Rest here today, you can change your clothes."

Fu Wenzhi has always been precocious. He also has other younger brothers and sisters in his family, and he takes good care of these children.

It's just that her younger siblings weren't as well-behaved and obedient as Tang Wan.

Tang Wan hadn't actually settled down yet; she was just being pushed around by Fu Wenzhi like a puppet on a string.

She blankly picked up the clean clothes, then went into the bathroom, took off the dirty bunny costume, and stepped into the bathtub that was already filled with water.

Then it slowly, gradually sank down.

The water gradually spread into my nasal cavity, and my breath brought the water into my body, causing a feeling of suffocation.

The familiar pain triggered a rejection reaction in her body, jolting the numb Tang Wan awake.

She struggled to hold onto the edge of the bathtub with both hands, then opened her eyes wide and looked around.

She, she ran back!

Tang Wan quickly washed herself clean and went out wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and shorts.

Fu Wenzhi took out a mini laptop with numbers and symbols on the screen, so densely packed that Tang Wan couldn't understand them.

She stood obediently beside Fu Wenzhi without saying a word.

Just watching quietly.

Fu Wenzhi felt the heat around him and subconsciously turned his head, only to see Tang Wan with her hair still damp.

His gaze fell on Tang Wan's arms and legs, and his eyes darkened.

As if asking casually, "Does Tangtang remember how she got to the orphanage?"

Tang Wan didn't know why Fu Wenzhi was suddenly interested in this topic. She thought for a moment, then raised her hand and made a few sign language gestures.

I can't remember.

[I only have a vague impression of it.]

I wasn't sent to an orphanage at birth.

Tang Wan paused for a moment, and her expression showed some distress.

Then he gestured again.

[It seems she was sent there by someone.]
