Chapter 24 Escaping the Song Family Manor

Shen Bai didn't know who the man he was talking about was, but he wanted to go out tonight and go back to the Taoist temple. He didn't want to stay here anymore.

'I want to get out before dawn; I don't want to stay here.'

"Alright then, I know a place where there's a tree next to the wall; you should be able to get out from there."

The kid often plays around here, and I once saw a cat climb a tree and come in.

Shen Bai is bigger than a cat, so he can definitely climb the tree and get out.

Before leaving, Shen Bai placed a few red banknotes on the bedside table, as his master had said that even staying in a hotel required money.

He's been staying here for several days, so he should be paid, right?

After packing his belongings into a small bundle, Chen Bai quietly went downstairs.

The two, one human and one ghost, carrying a small bundle, evaded the bodyguards' sight and crept to the corner of the backyard wall.

"This is it. Just step on the branches to get up."

The little imp floated to a tree branch and gestured for Shen Bai to follow.

Shen Bai looked around. This was a corner hidden by some bushes and flowers, and no one could see him.

So he climbed up the tree, but the tree was still a short distance from the wall, and his pale legs couldn't cross it at all.

He gripped the branch and slowly moved outwards, but as he approached the wall, the branch became thinner and thinner.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by, and the branches began to sway. Seeing that the branches might break, Chen Bai jumped onto the wall.

Then he lost his footing and fell straight down.

Fortunately, there were some weeds and bushes outside, but his knee was still scraped.

It was too dark for Shen Bai to see his surroundings clearly, so he could only look down for his phone.

When I fell, my phone flew off with me.

With no other option, Chen Bai could only grope his way along the ground.

After finding his phone, he turned on his flashlight and shone it on his knee; it was slightly scraped.

Remembering Song Yun's words about breaking his legs, the scraped knee didn't seem to hurt so much anymore.

He looked around, and the little devil followed him out.

“Follow this road, there are still bodyguards in this manor.”

The little devil pointed to the road over there.

Yes, this entire estate belongs to Song Yun, and Shen Bai only found out about the villa just now.

So he continued to evade the bodyguards, sneaking out of the manor under cover of darkness.

Fortunately, the little devil was there to help him.

“My name is Xiao Nian. You can come to me if you need anything in the future. I know this place very well.”

Shen Bai nodded: 'Okay, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I probably won't be coming back.'

Shen Bai looked outside, hands on his hips, as if he had done something of great importance.

"Oh well."

Seeing that he was just a child, Shen Bai felt sorry for him and took out a stick of incense from his bundle.

Light the incense and stick it into the ground in one direction.

"Consider this incense offering as a thank you, Little New Year."

Xiao Nian was immediately overjoyed. He had been wandering here for over a hundred years, and this was the first time he had ever received incense offerings.

"Thank you, Master. I'll take you out now."

Shen Bai had always heard people call his master "Master", but this was the first time someone had ever called him that.

Shen Bai was a little happy and slowly followed Xiao Nian to another corner of the manor.

"This is where you exit."

Xiao Nian pointed to a wall over there, which was covered with ivy, and there was a row of trees next to the wall.

Shen Bai climbed up just like before, only this time the wall was higher.

Shen Bai wondered what would happen if he fell again while climbing up like this.

But before he could think, he heard footsteps coming from the other side.

It looked like there were bodyguards patrolling.

Without further hesitation, Shen Bai climbed up the tree.

The sound grew closer and closer, and Shen Bai could only cling tightly to the tree branch, not daring to move an inch.

[Hurry, hurry, don't get spotted!]

The bodyguards below quickly passed under the tree.

Shen Bai watched the bodyguards disappear into the distance before he felt relieved.

Then they quickly moved away from the branches.

The trees here are quite large, and the branches are thick, so Shen Bai can reach the wall in one step.

This time, he went out even faster before the New Year. He pointed out a place with thick grass to Shen Bai, and Shen Bai jumped down.

This time, he was not injured.

"Alright, just keep walking down this road and you'll get to the city."

Xiao Nian heard it from other ghosts; he couldn't get out of this place, he only knew that the city was just beyond that direction.

'Alright, if I can get back to the Taoist temple, I'll find a way to send you to reincarnation. You stay here for now.'

Shen Bai needs to leave quickly; he needs to get back to the Taoist temple as soon as possible.

Xiao Nian looked at him with his gray eyes and a smile on his face.

"I had forgotten that it's actually okay whether or not you go into reincarnation."

Xiao Nian had never done anything immoral, so the ghost messengers wouldn't come to arrest him. He had long been used to wandering around and could occasionally find some enjoyment in it.

Shen Bai nodded and followed the path he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Song Yun arrived at the company early.

Assistant Xu delivered a delicious breakfast.

Looking at the pig-shaped buns and rabbit-shaped steamed buns in the lunchbox, Song Yun gave Assistant Xu a cold look.

What did you buy?

Assistant Xu could only say:

"Yes, Uncle Li said that Young Master Bai likes to eat these. I thought Young Master Bai had come to the company too. I'm sorry, President Song."

Song Yun waved his hand, dismissing him.

That little fool is quite good at winning people over; he's gotten them all to know his preferences so quickly. Ha.

I wonder if that silly boy has gotten up yet, and I wonder if Uncle Li has prepared his favorite breakfast for him.

After thinking about it, he still sent a message to Butler Li.

Butler Li replied that Young Master Bai had not yet gotten up.

Not up yet? Yeah, that guy's super lazy.

Song Yun didn't think much of it and went back to work.

Around noon, Butler Li hurriedly called him, saying that Shen Bai was missing.

"What? Explain yourself! When did you disappear?"

Song Yun was still in a meeting, and before anyone else could react, he left.

When they returned to the Song residence, everyone was busy looking for Shen Bai.

"Have you found it? Have you checked the surveillance footage?"

Butler Li wiped the sweat from his forehead and shook his head.

"We've searched the entire manor, but we still can't find Young Master Bai."

Song Yun frowned and opened her phone to check the location.

However, the location is getting closer and closer to him.

Then he saw a bodyguard walking over with a card and a stack of red banknotes.

"Young master, we found this outside the villa's wall."

Song Yun stared at the object with murderous intent, gritting his teeth: "Chen, Bai."

Achoo!

Chen Bai sat on the steps in front of a breakfast shop and sneezed violently.

He held the small bundle in his arms and watched the people eating breakfast in the breakfast shop.

The soup dumplings look delicious.

But his money was gone, and there was no money in his phone either.
