Chapter 35 The Kitten in the Haunted House

Shen Bai tried hard to understand the contents of the task card.

Get out of here quickly.

The "ghosts" were chasing after the two of them, so Shen Bai pulled Song Yun to hide in a corner.

Song Yun looked down at the well-behaved and earnest boy, a fine sheen of sweat glistening on his smooth forehead.

The child is really good-looking, so good-looking that Song Yun almost couldn't control himself.

The two stayed there for a while, and then they heard the sound of a chainsaw slowly approaching.

Upon hearing this, Shen Bai pulled Song Yun along and continued running.

"Meow~".

Then I heard a kitten meow.

Shen Bai stopped.

Found you! So that's where you were.

Shen Bai led Song Yun toward the kitten.

It was a thin, black kitten, which looked like a stray cat from who-knows-where.

"Xiaobai, what's wrong with you...?"

Before Song Yun could finish speaking, Shen Bai instinctively reached down to hug the kitten, but Song Yun grabbed his hand.

"This cat is too dirty; you can't touch it directly."

No, it's clean.

Shen Bai frowned and shook his head, still wanting to pick up the kitten on the ground.

Song Yun still stopped him.

"If you like them, I'll buy you a few when I get back?"

Shen Bai shook his head again, frantically gesturing in sign language.

I want this one, I want it!

"Meow~".

The kitten's voice was very soft, and its drawn-out tone made it sound especially pitiful.

What Shen Bai saw were two black cats, one big and one small.

The big cat made a gesture of clasping its hands together towards Shen Bai, as if it were begging him.

In reality, it was pleading with him, because only Shen Bai could see it, and it didn't want its kitten to die.

Shen Bai was deliberately lured in by the big cat; this kitten looks to be only a few months old.

The big cat looks strange. It used to have pure black fur, but now it has several ugly, centipede-like things on its fur, as if it had been patched up with colorful yarn.

Shen Bai stared at the cat for a long time before he could see clearly that the cat seemed to have been dismembered before it died.

How pitiful.

Shen Bai thought of the spirit cat on the mountain, but unfortunately it belonged to his master. He also wanted to raise a kitten like that.

Seeing that the child was determined to take the kitten home, Song Yun glanced at the staff member who was rushing over from the other side with a chainsaw.

This person originally intended to scare the two of them, but instead met Song Yun's cold gaze.

He was instantly startled; the man exuded an overwhelming sense of oppression.

"You, is there something you need?"

He instantly lost his nerve and dared not bring the chainsaw forward, feeling that if he dared to lift it up, the tall man in front of him would kick him away.

Song Yun didn't waste any words with him and pointed to the kitten huddled in the corner.

"Is this your kitten? Can I take it with me?"

"this……"

"Oh, so you're here, Mimi. What are you doing here?"

A clean-cut young man walked over. He looked about the same age as Song Yun, wearing a clean white shirt and jeans, and he gave off a gentle and warm vibe.

"Oh, it's you, Xiao Xu. Is this your kitten?"

The staff asked him.

Xu Xiaoxiang's eyes darted away for a moment, then he nodded with a smile.

"Yes, as you know, I'm a student at Kyoto University. This kitten is a stray cat on campus, and I've been feeding it all this time. It even secretly followed me here."

After saying that, he seemed to have just noticed Song Yun, and his expression instantly lit up with surprise:

"Senior Song, you're here to hang out too? What a coincidence!"

"You two know each other?"

The staff members next to him were slightly surprised to see that Xu Xiaoxiang recognized the man in front of him.

Xu Xiaoxiang was an outstanding student at Peking University. He was kind-hearted and had excellent grades. Although his family was not well-off, he attended the same primary and secondary schools as Song Yun.

Later, Song Yun was directly admitted to Peking University, and Xu Xiaoxiang had few opportunities to see Song Yun anymore.

Having finally seen a familiar face today, Xu Xiaoxiang couldn't help but come over and talk to Song Yun.

Shen Bai blinked at the person, then glanced at Song Yun.

"Meow~~".

The two cats started hissing as soon as Xu Xiaoxiang appeared, and their fur stood on end.

The kitten kept backing away, trying to hide in the big cat's arms, but the big cat was already dead and could no longer stand in front of the kitten.

Shen Bai put his hands behind his back and quietly drew a talisman in the air.

"Please, please save my child... Meow~."

"He is a demon..."

Shen Bai heard the big cat's voice and looked towards Xu Xiaoxiang.

At this moment, Xu Xiaoxiang was talking to Song Yun.

"Senior, this kitten is one I'm raising. Do you like kittens too?"

Do they know each other?

"Yes, we plan to adopt this cat."

Song Yun's answer was lukewarm. He wasn't familiar with Xu Xiaoxiang; they had only played games together when they were on the basketball team.

However, this person was a substitute, and he really didn't have much interaction with him.

"You? This is your brother?"

Xu Xiaoxiang seems to have only just discovered Shen Bai's existence.

Shen Bai always felt that this person was strange, and the kitten was clearly afraid of him, so how could he be the one feeding it?

"He is my partner."

Song Yun never intended to hide Shen Bai's identity, so he revealed it.

Shen Bai only remembered after hearing this.

Yes, I'm his partner.

Then, Shen Bai moved closer to Song Yun and stood in front of him.

Shen Bai simply wanted to prove that the two knew each other.

However, in Xu Xiaoxiang's eyes, Shen Bai was asserting his dominance and even provoking him.

Xu Xiaoxiang liked Song Yun from the first moment he saw him in junior high school, but he never expected that Song Yun also liked boys.

And surprisingly, he found a partner so quickly.

Xu Xiaoxiang's right hand was tightly gripping the side of his clothes, and his face was slightly pale.

They look a little pitiful.

He wasn't ugly, and with his clean and tidy clothes, he looked like a resilient little white flower.

"Oh, congratulations! I didn't know you liked boys too. If I had known back in school, you would have been pursued by many people."

He laughed easily, as if they were talking about something only the two of them would understand, his gaze intentionally or unintentionally glancing at Shen Bai.

"Meow~".

Shen Bai ignored what the other person was saying. Taking advantage of Song Yun's momentary lapse in attention, he squatted down and hugged the kitten to his chest, rolling up his long robe to wrap the entire kitten in his arms.

"Ouch, why are you disobeying me again?"

Song Yun stepped forward and reached out to throw the dirty little cat out of Shen Bai's arms.

But Shen Bai protected the kitten fiercely.

[I can't let them take it away, the kitten is mine.]

Song Yun was actually worried that the kitten might have some bacteria or parasites on it, as children are weak and could easily get sick.

However, Xu Xiaoxiang thought that Song Yun wanted to take the cat back and return it to him.
