Chapter 88 Playing the violin for him

Shen Bai took the towel and wiped his face haphazardly.

"Young Master Bai, wake up. You have class this afternoon."

Chen Jiao quickly tied up Shen Bai's hair and then gave him water.

Shen Bai nodded.

Yes, you really need to go to class. Little White needs to study hard so that he can play the violin for the giant squid when he's done.

With this in mind, Shen Bai cheered himself up and then took his cup and went upstairs.

Upon arriving at this spot, Qi Mu was already waiting for them.

"Xiaobai, let's continue the lesson."

As he spoke, he glanced subtly at Chen Jiao and Wang Meng, who were dressed as maids.

Chen Jiao met his gaze and felt a little strange.

But Qi Mu quickly smiled and nodded at them, his smile very gentle, and Chen Jiao thought she must have seen wrong.

However, she remained cautious and pulled Wang Meng aside, and the two of them watched for a while.

Finding nothing amiss, the two left.

Qi Mu walked up to Shen Bai.

"Let's review what we learned this morning."

He opened the book.

Then they started talking.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened that afternoon.

Qi Mu finished get off work at four o'clock in the afternoon, packed his things, and then glanced at the door.

At that moment, two figures were lurking suspiciously outside the door.

Chen Jiao and Wang Meng quickly went downstairs.

"Nothing's wrong. He's been paying attention in class the whole time. Maybe we're seeing things."

Wang Meng said in a low voice.

Chen Jiao looked conflicted:

"But I find him very strange. I always feel that his eyes are weird."

"But nothing happened all afternoon, and he's a university professor, handsome, and probably from a wealthy family. He wouldn't do anything bad, would he?"

Chen Jiao glanced at her helplessly.

Wang Meng is only nineteen years old this year, so she must be a blockhead. Chen Jiao silently forgave her in her heart.

She still earnestly told Wang Meng:

"Xiaomeng, you can't judge a person by their profession, or you'll easily be deceived."

Wang Meng nodded with an awkward smile:

"Okay, okay."

Then he took a rag and helped the others clean.

Chen Jiao shook her head helplessly and followed along to get busy.

The Song residence was very large, and their daily work consisted of cleaning. Everyone else did the same. Sometimes, when they did a thorough cleaning, Butler Li would hire day laborers to help.

But that usually happens during holidays like Chinese New Year; now, it's just these women doing the work on a regular basis.

Upstairs, Qi Mu finished packing his things and said goodbye to Shen Bai:

"See you tomorrow, Xiaobai."

Shen Bai kept her head down, fiddling with her violin, ignoring him.

Qi Mu walked towards him helplessly:

"Xiaobai has been naughty and should say goodbye to the teacher."

"Oh, I forgot, Little White can't talk, so just wave goodbye to the teacher, okay?"

He deliberately leaned closer when he spoke.

Shen Bai quickly stepped back.

"Hehe, okay, then I won't come any closer. See you tomorrow."

Qi Mu stared intently at Shen Bai's face for a long while before turning and leaving.

Shen Bai pursed his lips, picked up the violin on the table, and continued playing.

He liked the sound and wanted to practice it more.

Looking at the sheet music on the shelf, Chen Bai practiced that short section repeatedly.

He could only remember this short section of the piece, so he practiced it continuously, ignoring Qi Mu all afternoon.

Unless he's explaining the content of the score.

Yes, Shen Bai started learning from the simplest scores; he hasn't yet mastered fixed keys or movable keys.

But he was very serious; even though he didn't remember much, he still practiced diligently.

This was the thing he studied most diligently besides magic spells, and it was also one of the few things that Shen Bai was interested in.

Five o'clock.

Song Yun returned home on time and immediately spoke to Butler Li upon entering:

Where's Xiaobai?

Butler Li looked pleased:

"Young Master is still practicing the piano upstairs."

Upon hearing this, Song Yun raised an eyebrow:

"So serious?"

Without waiting for Butler Li's reply, he threw down his briefcase and went upstairs.

As soon as I arrived at the entrance of the music room, I could hear the intermittent sound of a violin inside.

Song Yun stopped at the door and saw the child standing by the French windows, practicing in the sunset.

The afterglow of the setting sun shone on him, and in Song Yun's eyes, he looked radiant.

I vaguely remember Uncle Shen standing outside the lattice gate, looking at Aunt Bai, under the rose bushes.

He was too young to understand the look in Uncle Shen's eyes when he looked at Aunt Bai.

Now, he seems to understand.

The deep, white music stopped at some point.

[It's not like that, you're a beginner and can't pull it right.]

Upon hearing the child's words, Song Yun immediately pushed open the door and went inside.

"Baby, I'm home."

Upon hearing his voice, Shen Bai's eyes lit up. He put down his zither and ran towards Song Yun.

He threw himself into Song Yun's arms, and Song Yun caught him and gently kissed the top of his head.

Song Yun had already started missing him after just one day apart.

She silently berated herself for being so pathetic, but she couldn't stop thinking about him.

"Haven't seen you all day, have you missed me? Baby?"

Shen Bai nodded in his arms.

I really miss giant squid.

I wanted a hug because I missed him.

In Song Yun's arms, Shen Bai felt incredibly safe, unlike before when her heart was constantly in her throat, but Shen Bai didn't understand why.

The moment he saw Song Yun, he knew he must have missed her.

Sure enough, I felt relieved after the hug.
