Chapter 40 Numb.40 You Want to Kiss Me

On Wednesday evening, Xu Wu arrived at the club room first. She casually put her tote bag in her usual corner spot, then pulled out a red plastic chair and sat down.

No one has come yet.

Xu Wu laid the script out on his lap, looked down, and turned the pages: "Did you bring the camera?"

"I brought it, I brought it, I brought it."

A hesitant, stuttering voice came through.

Xu Wu looked up and glanced around, but didn't see anyone. He frowned and asked, "What are you hiding for?"

"Because...because..." Jie Ying's figure peeked out from outside the door, her hands clutching the camera, her fingers gripping so tightly they turned white unconsciously. Her face flushed, she lowered her head, unable to look directly at him, and stammered, "Because...this is the first time...the first time, the first time that Wu has been willing to let me..."

"Can you stop being so ambiguous?" Xu Wu slammed the script shut and looked at him. "Besides, we're not filming just me today."

Upon hearing this, Jie Ying's shoulders visibly trembled, and his grip on the camera loosened and tightened again, as if he wanted to say something, but he swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

He looked gloomy all over, as if he had grown two ears on his head, which were drooping listlessly.

"But I'm still very happy." After a long while, he muttered to himself.

"What's making you happy?" Xu Wu asked.

“Fog, new photos of fog, and things like that,” he said.

"You're going to use my photos to do disgusting things again," Xu Wu said maliciously, stabbing him.

Jie Ying, who understood the meaning behind Xu Wu's words, was practically burning with embarrassment. His crimes, which he had committed more than once, were now being laid bare before the person involved.

"You're not allowed to do that, do you understand?"

Jie Ying reflexively raised her head. Although she pursed her lips and didn't say anything, her slightly disappointed eyes said a lot, and even vaguely revealed her accusation against Xu Wu's words.

"...Fine, just don't let me know." She was the first to back down, then turned her head away and refused to look at him anymore.

What's wrong with this person? Like a listless black cat rejected by its owner, even when huddled in a corner, it still wags its tail unconsciously when it sees its owner.

Xu Wu suddenly felt a tickle on her fingertips. She rubbed them, but it obviously didn't help.

She wouldn't resist at all. She clearly wanted to do that kind of thing, but on the surface, she had to suppress her desire because of what she said.

Or rather—

He willingly handed over the switch to control his desires to her.

What she had to do was, when the cat was at his most confused and infatuated, pull back the leash hanging around his neck, and then, as if to appease him, reach out and wipe away the tears that were still hanging precariously from the corners of his eyes, caused by the sudden feeling of suffocation and the torment of lust.

"Come here." Xu Wu calmly watched as Jie Ying slowly walked towards her step by step.

He wasn't walking fast, perhaps intentionally delaying, but of course, there was also the embarrassment of his bad deed being exposed.

Fifteen seconds later, Jie Ying stopped in front of her, behaving unusually obediently, even her hair was hanging down obediently and close to her eyebrows and eyes.

"Take the picture."

A soft voice reached his ears, striking his heart like a sharp blow along the path of his blood flow. Jie Ying's brow twitched, and he looked up.

"Don't you like taking pictures?" Xu Wu said. "Now you can take your picture."

"I..." Jie Ying began in a hoarse voice, "I don't... I don't like filming..."

His photography wasn't really a hobby; at best, it was a convenient way to record Xu Wu's image, and this way he could capture her appearance to the greatest extent possible, making it as close as possible to her real-life appearance.

"I don't like taking pictures"

"Uh-huh......"

“Jieying,” Xu Wu looked at him and asked calmly, “Those photos you sent me before, were they from you?”

She didn't believe there were so many coincidences in the world. One stalker wasn't enough, there was another one around her. Besides, do dead people send packages now? When did the underworld become so advanced?

It's better to convince her that Jieying is no longer interested in her than to convince her that the message came from the dead Ji Lin.

The fact that a stunningly beautiful photo is mixed in with a bunch of poorly taken photos speaks volumes.

—A straightforward contrast.

Xu Wu frowned, looking at Jie Ying, whose face was filled with shock and on the verge of tears, her lips trembling, as if she wanted to explain or was simply unable to refute the argument.

“I…I swear I only filmed those few times.”

He panicked and tried desperately to explain, but the more nervous he became, the more he stammered.

Xu Wu, however, showed no sympathy and interrupted him directly: "You took those awful photos too."

"No, no, it's not." He shook his head and denied it: "That is, it's Ji Lin."

"What?" Xu Wu doubted her ears for a moment.

“Yes…” Jie Ying lowered her head: “Ji Lin.”

I'm so jealous. That awful person was so close to Xu Wu before he died, and she still remembers him for so long after he's gone.

Even just mentioning his name... Jie Ying clenched her hands, suppressing the resentment born from jealousy.

Why not just die cleanly? Why did you have to talk to Xu Wu?

Why should Xu Wu think highly of him just because of a few trivial common topics?

Why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why did they die so easily?

"You mean, he took all those photos?" Xu Wu laughed in anger. She suddenly began to doubt her own constitution, as she was always surrounded by stalkers or paparazzi.

“Hmm… I saw him jump before he jumped,” Jie Ying replied softly.

He had been observing Ji Lin ever since the first words Ji Lin said to Xu Wu; you could call it stalking.

It was no coincidence that he found the photos of Xu Wu that he had secretly taken in his drawer; he had specifically gone to look for them.

He tore up some of the less-than-perfect photos on the spot, harboring this dark thought: how could such a cheap camera possibly capture Xu Wu's image?

He kept the worse photos and, when sending them to Xu Wu, cleverly added a photo he had taken himself for comparison.

look-

Only I can capture the true fog in this world.

These people can't be photographed, and they don't deserve to touch you.

"And also, where did you get that video of me applying medicine that you sent me from an unknown number?"

Xu Wu was referring to the time she fell and hurt her knee, and Jie Ying knelt down to apply medicine for her. After returning home, she received a video with a caption telling Jie Ying to die.

“Well, that…” Jie Ying stammered.

"Do you really enjoy cursing yourself?" Xu Wu raised an eyebrow.

"No...no." He turned his head away awkwardly, his heart clenching.

Rather than calling it a curse, it's more accurate to say that's exactly what he thought.

How could someone as insecure and ugly as him be worthy of being next to someone as glamorous as Xu Wu? He would be burned even if he accidentally glanced at her.

He was unworthy, and dared not even dream of possessing her, even if everything seemed like a fleeting moment.

If it was divine mercy that granted him this beautiful dream, then he would dedicate his life to worshiping it.

But this kind of happiness is unsettling; you never know when it might be mercilessly taken away by the gods.

"So let's film it." Xu Wu didn't want to delve into his strange fantasies, her voice languid.

Upon hearing this, Jie Ying stared blankly at her.

Xu Wu remained unfazed.

Take pictures, the more the better.

She recalled the first time she saw the photo Jie Ying had taken of her, the stunning, dreamlike visual impact.

She had no idea that she would look like that in front of the camera.

She was melancholic, yet always wore a smiling face when not in front of strangers; that was her, yet it wasn't like her.

So let's just shoot it like this.

Take more photos, capture all the sides of her that she doesn't know.

"I..." Jie Ying opened her mouth with difficulty, her fingertips trembling with excitement, her pupils wide open: "I really can..."

"Hmm." Xu Wu raised an eyebrow and deliberately said, "If you don't want it, then forget it."

"Haha," he chuckled dryly, his lips parched, "Yeah, you know it if you think about it..."

Just as Jie Ying was feeling lost, a beautiful hand reached out. His gaze fell on the rosy fingertips, then rose to meet the girl's dark but bright eyes, which held a hint of stiffness.

Jie Ying looked up at Xu Wu expectantly, as if begging for her consent.

Xu Wu averted her gaze.

Was it a prank or something genuine, or just something said offhand, and I was foolish enough to believe it?

Jie Ying thought to himself with self-deprecation, even though he had long been a fool. Whether Xu Wu offered him poison or honey, he had long since run out of options.

Liking something is irrational; he can only choose to accept it entirely.

The moment his stiff, trembling fingers touched Xu Wu's fingertips, the slender fingers seemed like a magnet, drawing him irresistibly closer—

He then stepped forward and intertwined his fingers with hers.

It was cool and soft, yet you could clearly feel the bones beneath the skin.

Jie Ying could clearly see that Xu Wu's index finger trembled slightly because of his movement, but he did not dodge or reject him.

As their fingertips brushed against each other, it felt as if a faint electric current was passing between them, making the commands issued by their brains become chaotic.

Just a hair's breadth away, Jie Ying's eyes gradually deepened, and with a slight exertion, he gripped her fingers.

"Can I really...do this to the fog, to the fog?" Jieying asked cautiously, her eyes reddening as they held hands.

"Didn't you already do it?"

Xu Wu glanced at him with a look that said, "What are you talking about?"

It's like watching a spendthrift dog.

Jie Ying took a shallow breath.

so.......

So it feels good.

He calmed his racing heart.

"However, Jieying." The sudden shout brought him back to his senses.

Jie Ying subconsciously looked up, only to hear Xu Wu ask him with a half-smile—

You want to kiss me.
